I was very impressed. Staff very helpful, right down to the security guys directing us where to go next. Their monitoring of social distancing and spraying down of counters after each customer is really impressive. They lose a star because of a number of staff wearing masks under their nose.

What a pleasure! I went to renew my drivers. The whole process took 20 minutes. The staff are organised and have a pleasant attitude, things are done with a sense of urgency, and management keeps things moving. Very impressed.

Lovely personnel... We must admit as South Africans this covid pandemic other taught us to be efficient, customer care and service deliveryVery happy with service and where there were delays they come out of their comfort chair and explain ( for example the eye test machines one was working )

One of the 2 Traffic departments in the Ottery area. The staff is professional. Most times there are long queus and waiting periods but its expected. Have all the required documents when going there.

Very poor service in making an appointment and being old they dont have a date to accommodate u with a drivers appointment when ur learners is expiring next month and on top of it they close very early and telling the people they will see if they can help u with a lot of other things happening at the new lottery trafic department

The person that assisted me was not friendly at all. I dont know what was wrong with having a certified copy of my identity document and not my original. People get robbed and there goes the original document. I went to get a re issue of my licence and the gentleman behind the counter was rude. Im a police official and a certified copy is as good as the original. Pathetic service fronts the traffic department and then people want to criticize the police!!!

Very unprofessional. Incorrect info given, spent time at department from 7 this morning till 1:15 this afternoon and had to run for sn affidavit which at the end of the day was unnecessary. Considering covid time should be cut down.

I passed my drivers test in October last year and I still havent received my license card. Phoned and went there to find out whats happening and they told me that they have to retake my picture and everything because a batch of licenses didnt arrive. 😑

D1: Due to load shedding only collection were being done on Saturday. Normally they have license renewals on Saturdays.D2: Mid week arrived at 11.50, walked out about an hour later. System was experiencing issues, which slowed down the process. Friendly staff though.PS. Bring your own hand sanitiser

About as good an experience as renewing a drivers license can be. A bit out of the way (rating based on my experience there and not the geographical location) but in and out within 30 minutes, and staff who engage with you and know what theyre doing.

Was there 4 days ago, took me an hour to renew my drivers licence. Would have been much quicker if there were more cashiers avaible. Took longer to pay than to fill in application form and do eye test. Staff very friendly. Take a pen with.

Been here for about 3 hours just trying to make a learner license appointment. One person by the information desk which takes up most of your time here because there are people in the line for collect of drivers, driving permits. They NEED to make a separate desk for collections and definitely need more offices.

My experience at New Ottery TSDL is excellent. Office is well staffed, professional, efficient and above all not stressed, very friendly and helpful. I recommend arriving before 7:30 and you’re guaranteed to leave at most within an hour, depending on complexity of your case. Experience is multiple times better than at Hillstar.

The staff at this traffic department is an ABSOLUTE JOKE!!!!! After paying for the issue of my learners lisence I was told to wait outside... I waited about an hour before I started asking around for assistance and I was rudely told If the cashier told you to wait outside, then you must wait outside. I found the cashier who assisted me sitting in his car. He told me the matter is out of my hands now... I was the only person still waiting for my learners lisence document almost 2 hours after I wrote my test. Eventually a lady told me well fetch it now neh. I watched her casually walk to her locker and fiddle in her hand bag. I shook my head and she laughed at me and said it was my own fault because my first attempt making a payment failed. (So if a payment is declined on 1st attempt be ready to wait 2 hours to receive your document). I am completely and utterly disgusted with the service of the staff at this place. a donkey could do a better job

This centre is totally disorganised with no info system in place. long qs only to be told what infonis required once you reach the front. eye testing takes up to 15 mins pp and payment even longer. no clear indication of services, ppl in wrong qs with very unfriendly and unhelpful staff. And this is actually a paying service. The City needs better planning to serve the ppl. You do us ho favours.

Applied for my drivers licence renewal, and was in and out after 30 or so minutes (thanks to going early in the morning and on a VERY rainy day)However, the staff are, gosh, sad! Only person with some semblance of etiquette or plain humanity was the lady at the information desk who managed to crack the tiniest smile i have seen gloss over the face of a human being. Eye test took over 15 minutes as staff are too busy talking to each other about their social lives and about what they did the last weekend and what they going to do the coming weekend (and gossiping) than actually FOCUSING on what they are paid to do. Cashier was ok, though I dont think he has smiled in over 5 years (or maybe his entire life, who knows). And I am yet to receive my drivers licence 4 months later thanks to the strike of the staff/company that makes the actual drivers licence cards, talk about efficiency.UPDATE : Feb 2019 : seems that you cant even rely on the SMS to inform you that your Drivers Licence is available for collection. Went to enquire and was told oh your licence is here, but the SMSes are not going to everyone as there is still a backlog. And that after waiting in the information queue for 30 minutes (and i hear they dont allow collections on a Saturday!!!)Sad thing is I have to go through this again in 5 years time... oh the joy.

Ive previously given this centre 5 stars. Unfortunately, today I went to renew my license and was told they were closed for license renewals because their eye testing machine isnt working. When I asked if I could do the eye test at SpecSavers and bring the paperwork they said no. The queue at Hillstar goes around the building right now. Such a shame that they cant be assisted by this traffic dept.This is what I wrote five years ago. Lets hope they can get back to this level of service: Dont bother calling, just come through! All the requirements are available on the web for licenses etc. The queues are short, as are the waiting times for tests. I failed my test 3 times before I passed, so I got to know a fair few traffic departments! This is easily the most pleasant.

Staff are very friendly and organised. Its been definately one of the best experiences Ive had. Please remember to bring a pen and valid proof of address. My car license renewal notice did not stipulate valid proof of address but its definately required.

My experience at New Ottery is bad - a poorly run facility - a waste of taxpayers money:(1) Very long queues. Eye test took nearly 20 minutes per person whilst at Durbanville about 4 minutes.(2) Examiners have their own interpretation of K53 and it is virtually impossible to pass. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.(3) Bad and disrespectful attitude.

No signage to direct people into the correct queues (applications, eye test, payments, collections etc). Queues are inefficiently set e.g. one queue for eyetest and payments even if youre not doing an eyetest.
