Well from the Staff Service was Overally Good, from the Door and the Consultant wasVery good . She didnt seem bored to assist me , she happily answerd all my Questions.Waiting time was too long, too short staffed for the number of people who turn up to be assisted. Which simply explaìns why i have waited for almost 4 months and my Application is not yet processed.

The long line is those they come to check after submitting the documents, some they have Case Nr which says they have to wait for 35 days like mine. While the massage didnt show that I have to have ather document must be sign by the doctor. Thats make a delay .

I arrived at 7:40 and was registered by 9:40. Having your paperwork 100% sorted is essential! Make sure your employer does their side properly issuing you with a U19 form and that you have your bank fill in the UI 2.8 form. Take your ID.

No stars for any government department. its like they are in competition to be the worst servicing department. The phones will ring for hours before anyone answers and when they do eventually answer you get transferred to another line where the chances of your call being answered ...lets just say you have a better chance winning the lottery.

Even after doing an online application you have to hand in documentation at their offices. You wait an entire day in line, just to be told to go home because they are under staffed. Why can’t we attach our documentation to our online application? If people chat to each other less here, lines will go faster..Understaffed should not be public’s problem? We pay their salaries!

As some one said, it is easy to complain, but all I can say is that I had a wonderful experience at Dept of Labour, UIF offices in Cape Town at their Parade St. office and at their Riebeeck Street office as well. The staff were friendly and professional. I can easily give them a 5 star rating.Roy Page

Mothers with their babies goes to the Dept of Labour for their maternity benefits, I strongly feel that the dept/government could at least cater for them by having a baby changing station in the ladies toilet. I mean you sit so long waiting to be helped and ur baby needs to be changed as well.

Was easy to find. Parking is a problem, since its in middle of town. My visit took all of 20 minutes. 15 minutes spent unnecessarily in a queue at a counter with no signage for information. Was directed to 2 counters for maternity UIF. The consultation took all of 5 minutes .It helped that I had all my paperwork. That was my 1st visit to the Labour department.

It is so easy to complain and much more difficult to commend when you receive a good service. I visited Dpt of Labour Cape Town for the 1st time on the 2nd of July, having already heard all the horror stories of bad service at government departments I really lowered my expectation. To my surprise I was attended by a lady called Nomawonga, she was welcoming and professional, she made me feel cared for. Even when there were issues with my bank form she directed me to the nearest bank and told me to come back straight to her and not queue when I get back. She kept asking if I understood the next steps as she explained to me. I have not experienced this kind of service in a long time.I commend you sisi Nomawonga , you gave me hope that there are still people who care and do their jobs diligently regardless of who they serve. Keep up the good work, your employer is lucky to have you. Thank you very much.

Officials dont work. Only 3 people doing things very slowly. Today someone arrived at 8:20 got served at 13:25.Edit: That was in March. I never got served (they stop working at 15:30). The problem is that people are let in but not told that there is no hope of them being served!I went again in May at 07:00 (queue all the way down the block), the doors opened at 7:30 and the officials started working at 8:00. There seemed to be more of them and I was done by 10. They were very polite in my interactions with them.

Went to apply for maternity uif 2 weeks before baby was due (18 Feb) and have been sent up and down at least 6 times because every time I go back theres new forms to be completed or something isnt to their liking... Ive now been there at least another 5 times or of my own to check up and everytime they promise me a new payment date.. Baby is almost two months old and still no payout!!!Also one afternoon when I went to check, while I was still pregnant on my last (39 weeks) they put me at the back of the normal massive queue to stand for almost an hour and when I got to the front of the line the one lady who works there asked her colleague why did you let more maternity through, you said youd only help 5 for today and now theres 7 of themWtf??? I mean we are mothers that need to look after our babies and we are treated like this its disgusting !!

I went to the UIF offices and was helped immediately by the enquiries desk. My forms were filled in an was told they were perfect, but the person serving me said I had to get a UI 19 form from someone I had never heard of and I should come back, so never submitted my claim. I was told I could go to the Simons town branch which opens every 2nd Wednesday which I have done twice now and was told to go back to Capetown, which I did and was met with the deadly snake queue! I decided to try and go back, but coming from Simons town to Capetown is a almost impossible task for me at the moment, so I guess I shouldnt bother cos I know that once I make it to one of the booths eventually they are going to want me to go to another place and queue again, I emailed the documents through but they want printed copies, blah blah blah.....

In one word,PATHETIC! No wonder their rating is as bad as it is. They have no respect for the women with baby’s waiting to be assisted. One person on duty and yet has the audacity to take a tea break (which is understandable), however no one to relieve her. No one coming around to check if you have the correct documents/ paperwork and each staff member is nonchalant about what’s happening. They can’t do their job but expect a full salary end of month. Absolutely worst place I’ve ever experienced in terms of waiting time. Well done city of CPT. If I could I’d rate it 0 stars but it wouldn’t allow me to post this.

My trip here was not terrible at all. That might have something to do with my having printed out the forms and filling them in before I got there. Its conveniently located near enough to Eastern Bazaar so I could get a soul-restoring lunch afterwards but thats for another review.I walked in, asked where I must go to drop off completed forms, and was told to join the queue. The queue that snaked around and out of the UIF offices. No, I insisted, I was told telephonically I didnt have to join a queue. The chap says hes worked there three years and I have to join the queue. I say no, and walk inside to the Help Desk; the Help Desk consists of two polite gentlemen attending to every sort of query under the sun for the people in the snaking queue. I look around the room and there are benches of around 40 people (who have already been to the Help Desk) waiting to be served at one of the 18 or so stations. Problem is, I could make out one (yes, one) person at one station, so the 18 stations were more for show than anything else. Nonetheless, I plucked up the courage to ask one of the Help Desk people (who was busy with someone else) if I could just drop off completed forms here, half expecting to be shouted at jumping the queue. Instead, he paused, asked his colleague, and they decided it was correct, and took my form and off I went.Relieved to not have to wait more than five minutes to do the drop-off, as opposed to waiting in the queue for probably an hour at least. Nice service, but come prepared! Having said all of that, and I will probably regret saying this, its not a bad Labour Department office to go to.PS - I went Monday 18 July at 1pm.
