Great service and dog friendly!

10 Days ago I went to Caltex Sea Point to put in R1000 of petrol in my Prado - as I always do. I popped in to the cafe to get a Coke while the petrol was being put in. When I came out , Patrick the attendant handed me the petrol slip - it reflected 2 amounts - first was R725.20 - and below it R275.25. The explanation was that the hose had jumped and so automatically switched off - and was then restarted to put in the balance still due. When I looked at my petrol gauge it seemed as thought the needle was sitting lower than usual ( I always put in R1000 at a time) - but hard to tell as it sits somewhere in the middle (I have 2 x 90 lire tanks) I then took it up with the owner Burgert Kloppers - who confusingly first backed up his attendants version of things - but then when I said that the attendant should have come inside the cafe and alerted me that he had to restart the pump - Burgert changed his tune and told me he would be firing the attendant. I told him that was extremely harsh - but he would not back down - saying that his attendants had a duty to deliver excellent service and that this one had not. I paid and drove away feeling awful. However something was niggling me - I realised that the amount showing on the tank was the FIRST amount on my slip - and not the second as it should have been. Furthermore I did the calc of range plus average consumption showing on my car display - and realised that indeed only the first amount had been put in. I turned around and went back to the station - where I found Burgert - who was busy emailing me. He said that after I left , the attendant came and told him it was an honest mistake that he had not put in the second amount. Burgert offered to then put in the missing petrol - but I was too angry and asked for the R275.25 to be refunded to me. He had said he would email me the back office report after cashing up for the day - which he never did. I mailed him and asked him to do so - but he declined - saying that the matter had been handled internally. When I asked for details thereof he would not give me any. I am disgusted at the whole episode - from a possible scam running there - to the bad PR from Burgert. I want to warn all motorists about this - and will definitely not support this petrol station again.
