Dear ReaderI find it hard to phantom how any patient can register a One Star rating here. (Or even Four Stars for that matter.)Dr Martin Jacobson did not only saved me from a diagnoses of Alzheimers, and/or Parkinsons, but offered me a totally new life by way of applying a shunt for NPH, which went undiagnosed for some time. And that at a few years short of moving into my ninth decade.A special thanks too to Dr Johan Badenhorst who first saw the latter probability when I landend unconscious in Vergelegen Hospital after falling and landing slam-bang head first on my kitchen floor. My life has changed so drastically for the better, that if there were more stars to be given, I would have marked as many as possible, at least right up to Alpha Centaurus, if only to indicate how strange a one star rating seemed to me.I am not a medical doctor and speak only from my own experience, but personally, I would not give any rating below 5 Stars a second glance if Dr Jacobson is ever again to operate on me.Prof Arrie de BeerStellenbosch
Dr Jacobsohn has been fantastic with regards to my case. He has e-mailed me with any questions I have needed to be answered and explained all to me whenever needed as my case is a complicated one not something one deals with on a daily basis. He deals with far more traumatic cases every day but has time for my health too and that just proves to us what a amazing compassionate Dr he truly is!!!! Thankyou Dr Jacobsohn for being so true to what you do as a Neurosurgeon. Truly your calling.
Got a sms 3 months after surgery saying I was handed over for an unpaid account which my medical aid had paid for. I never received an account or statment from the Dr and then still got handed over even though this account was fully paid. Definitely needs new accounta people.
I had a fusion of my L4 and L5 vertebrae. The disc between was completely gone and the vertebrae about a cm out of line, resulting in permanent pain in my back, bum and back of legs down to my knees. When Dr Jacobsohn saw my condition on first visit he suggested surgery as an option. We first did an epidural procedure with a corto/steroid injection. This helped 50% for less than a week. Waste of money in my mind. I had the surgery a month later - as I write - just 3 weeks ago. I am sitting in a pub having a drink and watching rugby. I walked here in about 10 minutes without any pain, except the normal back pain from the op, which is obviously still healing. The operation took about 90 minutes and I was in that fantastic hospital Vergelegen Mediclinic for 5 days. Then I went for a last X-ray and Dr Jacobsohn could show me what was done. He placed a spacer between the vertebrae, moved them just about in line, and then screwed them together. It took just 90 minutes. I must ad that I am fit and not obese. A fantastic job and I recommend the guy to all. He did charge about 30% above my medical scheme rate, but you can pay this off by arrangement. I am extremely happy. It will take between 3 and 6 months for the fusion to be completed. A life changer.
Was satisfied with his quick and honest approach to my health situation -and referral.
Very impressed. Calm and knowledgable. Definately going back!
This is ridicules. Having been in the ER and the doctor has no time ..... it is weekend. Then calling his office, you have to wait for more than 1/23 month.Such a service is not acceptable.
