This is one of the best places to go when you want a relaxed romantic atmosphere in the evening. The food is amazing - I had the salami platter and homemade sweet potato gnocchi and they did not disappoint at all. The wine bar is very extensive so you will surely find something to your liking. The staff is friendly and very helpful when you need some recommendations.

Very good food. It especially hit the spot after a day of hiking. They were all out of gnocchi, but didn’t hesitate to whip up a fresh batch for my wife. Only took 30 minutes. Near the top of Kloof Street, it’s a good place to start a pub crawl through Kloof and Bree st.

Traveling all the way from the United States we weren’t sure what to expect when it came to food, but we’re so glad we stumbled upon T/W! We visited this establishment for breakfast 5 of the 9 days we stayed in Cape Town - you could say we’re obsessed! Their croissant with mashed avo and poached egg is to die for, but really everything on their menu is fantastic. Friendly staff genuinely want you to enjoy your time there. Definitely will visit again during our next stay in Cape Town.

What a great little place with a lot of warmth and great coffee. There is such a good feeling as you walk through the door. You will be easily sidetracked by the delicious baked treats like lemon meringue or rye bread. Walk further and browse the ready cooked meals all perfectly packaged and then grab a tub of ice cream for later. The coffee is best enjoyed at the bus stop. Support local! The entrance is not wheelchair friendly as there is a step up from the pavement.

I ordered a GLUTEN FREE meal, asked the waiter twice that there is no flour in the meal. He replied twice that there is no gluten in it and yet I got a normal bread. A big mistake form the waiter but the chef came to apologize and was very understanding of what had happened. More training on gluten free food, very very good customer service! Will still go again to give a second chance!

What a delightful little place with wonderful staff, a small but lovely menu (with excellent vegan options), and warm vibe. An absolute favourite of mine is their Monday night pasta and glass of wine (or any other drink if like me you dont do alcohol). And, dont leave without trying the Farinata (a chickpea omelette) - its an absolute must-have.

I have been there after their revamp, and they have kept the same charm as before, though with a neater look. The food is as great as it always was. I typically go there for a late breakfast on a Sunday after a big Saturday night out.

Service was slow, staff loud and raucous. The beer bottle that was wrongly served to me unceremoniously closed to be served to the next customer. The food, however, is stupendously good... perfect, freshly baked bread, delectable filo pies. In the whole, I understand why this place has so many good reviews.

Usually hit-and-miss, but a good place to take a chance on for breakfast if there are no other options around. Service can be non-existent, but when the food eventually arrives it is good enough. Portion sizes and quality has declined since it opened unfortunately. Rather try Manna Epicure around the corner for a better experience.

Chose here because we got ignored at Peppertree. Public holiday and clearly understaffed. The guys were honestly trying their best but needed help. Barista was clearing tables and trying to take orders as well as make the coffees. The only other team member had to try be behind the bar as well as the floor and at 1130am it was too much. We never got water for our table or wifi we requested when we ordered. Saw customers leave after waiting a while at the counter. Saw food and drinks sat waiting to be run. Liked the menu, decor and setup but on a busy day they looked to struggle. Great area of Cape Town we love to visit regularly so hope to be back next time.

Came here on a Sunday at 1. There was 2 other people in the cafe and the service was still painfully slow. After 30 minutes of waiting for our food, my husband received his pie. After another 10 minutes I went to ask about how my French toast was coming along, to which they had forgotten about it. Super disappointed and will not be back or recommend it.

Tamboerswinkel has been a local favorite for the last 5 years. I am a little biased as I lived across the road during those 5 years. That having been said there are several other options in the vicinity but Tamboerswinkel was always my first choice. It was a meeting place for a quick work meeting or even a evening of wine and gnocchi with friends. The intimate setting makes you feel like your in a farm kitchen. The staff are very friendly and super chilled and the sourdough bread Is a winner to take home.

I’ve always loved tamboerswinkel. Went there with my friends today for some birthday mimosas. The food took soooo long to arrive, had to send one meal back. Drinks were poured inconsistently, 2 of the meals looked so poor and pale and tbh not the best as I’ve had that exact meal there and it was great. Took 30mins to bring us the bill and the take-away meal that we were told would take 15-20mins, in fact took 45 mins.I’m so disappointed 😔

Was told over the phone to make my order another time as the venue was running a function. Oh well. Pick up my takeawayburgers and chips the next day and the staff member I spoke to was a lot nicer this time in oerson. Not one serviette or plastic knife or fork. Nice! Im sure the rent is high at your cramped spot but dont treat customers like they are not welcome. Burgers were tasty and healthy though.
