Starlings is one of my absolute favourite Places to meet Friends & share a Meal. Its the most cosy old House with an enchanting Garden. The Meals & Service are always fabulous. It has the most welcoming & tranquil Atmosphere. It has the most delightful Toilet, Ive ever come across! Everyone that Ive introduced Starlings to, also loves it.

I am now sorry that I left it so long to visit this spot. As well as a cosy rustic interior there is a spacious outdoor area which makes it a great spot for summer meetups. We arrived with a party of 11 and they accommodated us in their stride. Coffee were great, cakes were delicious and service was efficient and friendly. Highly recommended.

Quirky little local coffee shop and cafe. Rather a small menu but full of healthy salads and interesting options. I had chicken Caesar salad which was very tasty.It was too hot to sit outside and unfortunately the ceiling fan was broken where we sat inside. Otherwise 5 stars.

This is my favorite cafe in Cape Town. The interior is flawless. Its beautiful whether you sit inside or outside. My friends and I would go weekly and had an amazing server, I wished I remembered his name. I am really hoping to go back post pandemic. I loved everything I tried on the menu and the coffee was always delicious.

Service is great, servers are warm and efficient, and the overall ambience is unmatched - particularly lovely in warm weather for the garden sitting.

Starlings. More than the breakfast menu items, which are good, I enjoy the ambience. Its like having breakfast in a garden, and if you dont have one of those, its even more delightful.

I had a vegan wrap(I’m not vegan) and it was pleasantly good.

Popular little coffee shop that seems to focus on breakfast as almost everything has an egg in/on it. There are a few things without and I ended up having a burger which was good.I didnt particularly like their coffee-its a darker roast than I prefer but if thats your thing then youll enjoy it.Its tucked away behind a nice big hedge so keep your eyes open when going past.

Very cool spot. Was super chilled and the coffee was great! Food was very good. Decent portions and not unnecessarily expensive. Service was a bit sketchy in the beginning, but then a sharp waitress took our table and then things were perfect. Overall, we were not in a hurry and it was a pretty good breakfast experience.

Hey guys. Im disappointed with the experience at Starlings today. We spent 3hrs with them and it was not enjoyable at all. The potential for a great experience is there, however their service really let them down. I understand that it is a public holiday and that the turn around time is slower than usual, however, I saw my waitress 3 times during my time there. The first was to take my coffee order, the second was to remove my coffee cup and take my meal order, and the third was as we were walking out because the food took 1hr 25mins to arrive. We left our table because a couple who were next to us, arriving 1hr after us, had their food delivered too them before us. The excuse when our food came was that they had disorder in the kitchen, however, the couple next door had the exact same order as us, the only difference being the scrambled eggs. I do not believe that scrambled eggs takes that much longer than a poached egg does. When our coffee cups were removed, there was no offer if we wanted a replacement, our waitress just walked off. Now I understand that the restaurant was full, but the other waiter serving the table opposite us presented himself 7 times to his clients when I started counting (well done to him - youngster with the buzz cut). Now the food that came out the kitchen smelt amazing, its just a pity the service let them down. Another thing, there is a clear distinction between how regulars are treated compared to others - not cool. Its noticeable, and as a service orientated business, I suggest this be looked at. Your clients can feel this. We werent the only ones disappointed this morning. I wish Starlings well and I hope these issues get turned around. We wont be returning.

It’s an experience unlike anywhere else. As tourist, I’d strongly recommend this place for a breakfast. Despite the slightly long wait or the short menu, it’s worth it!Great food quality and seating areas, all with reasonable prices.Thank you to Starlings and staff for mornings like this.

We used to live nearby and visited the place regularly. It has been 2 years we have not been here, nothing changed, which is great in this case! Consistency is a major issue with restaurants. This place has very good food (simple menu!) Excellent coffee (there is almond milk) and great young staff. The ambience is one of my favorite, homely and beautiful tacked away little garden at the back with a European atmosphere...u can work/ read here and great for friends to catch up. Thanks!

A lovely little cafe restaurant discretely tucked away deep in the southern suburbs. Starlings offers high quality light meals, delicious freshly baked treats and excellent coffee. Guests can either sit in the beautifully decorated front rooms, out on the covered patio, or get some fresh air and dappled sunlight out in the garden. Service is warm and friendly.

Never again, very disappointed to say the least. I was issued with a letter of house rules on sitting with my laptop. A so called staff member asked if she can get me coffee? Not may I get you something to drink? Same staff member told the patrons to my left, that they need to move as she has a bigger table to accommodate in that space.. Not, pls may I ask you to move??? I left, having lost my sense of humor and appetite. Didnt eat my lunch, which arrived, cold, to which I requested it to be warmed up, still cold?? What a terrible experience in what was once a lovely establishment. IN RESPONSE TO YOU, regarding your video footage, one always sees what they want to see and there is always 2 sides to a story. The ladies to my left that very nicely moved to another table, found your wonderful Daphne, to be rude too, as we had spoken before they removed themselves. I didnt move because I was asked to, I did because I felt that I wanted to give the bigger group the extra space, no other reason! At no point did I use your plug point, your wifi, I came equipped! When Daphne abruptly asked if I wanted coffee, I responded that I didnt want anything at the time as I wasnt happy with her tone and was hoping another waiter wld come my way, and this is exactly what happened! A young man, very polite whom then, after me not having ordered anything yet because I wasnt keen to order from Daphne, issued me with house rules.. Not on! And I dont care if the dish is ordered cold, hot, I asked for it to be warned, I am the customer, Im paying for the meal, if I want it warm, I shld be able to request warm! By the time the meal came back and was still cold, Id had enough and left. No way was I going to pay for a meal I never ate, most definitely not after the terrible service!

Very nice place to hang out and work, they offer great fresh juices. You must be careful you may miss the entrance, its small door covered with trees.

Hidden treasure! The large green hedge hides it from view, but also adds to the atmosphere of the place. Good coffee, red capacino & cheesecake!Some large tables on the back veranda would be good for larger groups.Parking for 7 cars through the arch way (off street).Worth looking for.

We went for a birthday breakfast after reading the great reviews.We arrive and its really busy and we love the vibe and the setup.We order drinks and food,30 mins later the waiter comes to confirm my order,15 mins after that she brings the tables order except mine, she then proceeds to clear the table as everyone has finished eating and then says to me my food is on its way, this is after everyone else at the table has finished. Just a simple sorry was all i got and this was now more than an hour after the original order. I eventually ate while everyone sat around and watched. This was meant to be a nice breakfast together and ended up just being awkward and very annoying. At the end of the meal no1 apologized for the wait or the inconvenience they just took our money and that was it. Never have i been more disappointed with service or lack thereof.I would never recommend it to anyone.Do better with your service and take note of your customers.

Nothing beats a Starlings Brekkie! I went this morning and, despite it being super busy, received excellent, friendly service. As always, the food was incredible too (I highly recommend the bacon benedict!!). If youre looking for a bite in the burbs, Starlings is your best bet!

Amazing in and out door venue. I really enjoyed to sit in the garden and have my breakfast there. Food was great, service friendly and fast. There a little park at the back if youre lucky enough to find a spot😄...otherwise you can park along the street, there is a very friendly security guard to help you. I did enjoy my time there. The french toast just delicious 👌🏼☕

A chilled place to enjoy a chat with some friends, there is an indoor and outdoor section and each as equally lovely. If you need a calm environment this is the place to go. The baked goods are amazing are amazing and well worth a try. The coffee and green juice are top standard as well. If you are a café lover, or on a date, or just want to catch up with some friends, or enjoy a treat alone... this is definitely a place to go to!

I love this place. Parking is a problem, and they are often very full. The service can be quite slow. The decor and ambience are fantastic though, and the food is great (albeit not cheap). They dont have many small tables outside, which is a problem if youre two people who really want to sit outside. Also, I really wish they would be open on a Sunday!

Have been before but service was ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! Waiter took our order for a cup of tea then we kept trying to get his attention to order breakfast but he never took any notice of us. After an hour of just chatting we asked for our bill and left. Never again will I go there!

Waited one hour for a piece of French toast. Not a great place if you want to work or have a conversation as the music blasts at such a high volume you can feel it vibrating in your seat. This used to be a lovely spot, such a shame it’s declined so badly. Rather try the Bootleggers in Kenilworth.

Lovely little garden cafe. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and beautiful garden. I recommend sitting outside. Generally on the pricey side though, not the place to go if you need a cheap drink. Can get quite busy, especially on weekends (its a popular place) and service can get quite slow. Having said that, the food is delicious and their fresh juices are really nice if you enjoy that kind of thing.

Starlings is a lovely, leafy hidden gem within the suburbs. The service is always superb, the environment tranquil and the food delicious. Its a particularly gorgeous breakfast or brunch spot but likewise a lovely tea or coffee spot. The coffee and freshly baked goods are a particular treat.

It was a disaster, we waited 2hours for our breakfast. The staff were nowhere to be seen. We wanted to walk out. By the time the food arrived my appetite was gone. The food was mediocre, the service disgusting. Not going back there ever again.

Did a breakfast for wifes bday.Worst ever !!!will never go back.Arrived at 9:30 and ordered,10:05 waitress asked one of my friends what her order was.10:10 our food arrived but not my friends...we had finished eating when her food arrived at 10:30.If we had known her food would take so long we would of gotten up and left when our food came.Was extremely disappointing!!!
