I am a student hobbyist learning so much under the tutelage of the experiened carpenters and growing in confidence, to the extent where I am making my ideas a reality. When I arrive at workshop there is a new product/item they have worked on and it always looks really good. I just hope one day that I would reach that sort of standard in my projects.

In 2018 they came up with a brilliant carpentry solution at my house. I was so glad they survived 2020 and could help me again. They built a staircase for me this time. The terms and quote were clear and detailed, the craftmanship outstanding and the installation was very thorough. All in all very professional and friendly. It was worth ever cent.

SILVERMINE GATE 2....free entry with plenty of parking takes u on a mountain walk offering many walks off into the mountain, rock pools, waterfall and amphitheatre ovetlooking amazing flora!! Be careful NOT TO GO ALONE as groups are encouraged for your safety and protection! This is nature...so as chartered as msny of the paths may seem...animals still call it home and we are not familiar with them all!! There are many.people passing on the main path leading up to and including the waterfall and i did not once feel unsafe!!

Do not do business with these people!!The staff member: Frederick Roussouw/ Fred AbbasThe owner: Neville WolhuterWhat we unfortunately found out too late was that the guy they sent to our house representing Cape Carpenters, to do the measuring and installation of cupboards was a drug user who came into our house on approximately 3 occasions and who disappeared with our money. After receiving our complaints, the owner then apologized and undertook to make good on the work his staff failed to do. He came to our house to re-take the measurements after we told him to do so as he wanted to accept the measurements taken by his staff which turned out to be incorrect. He then tried to convince my mother that the cupboards we had were fine and we did not need new ones. After confirming that the reason we paid the deposit was to have new cupboards installed, he undertook to start and complete the building and installation of our cupboards.After receiving various excuses from the owner as to his delay in commencing the work and then no response thereafter to our calls and only receiving a response from him after two months when a bad review was posted, he contacted my mother screaming at her aggressively over the phone and saying he will no longer do the cupboards. It is unclear whether this behavior was as a result of our coloured race or our female gender. Regardless, this is disgusting behavior from a so called professional and his behaviour in performing the work was no different to that of his staff member. He is now distancing himself and his company from the guy they employed and appointed to do our cupboard installation. They recently posted on Facebook that they are in no way affiliated with this staff member yet they sent him to our house representing Cape Carpenters. As we have heard from the owner himself, we are not the only people their staff member has defrauded.This company and the owner is an absolute joke. I would never recommend them to anyone unless they are looking to be messed around with and lose their money. Any further aggressive communication received from this company and the owner, will be reported to the police.

Extremely poor service. Got a quote. Paid deposit. Was told work would commence in 4 weeks. 8 weeks later with 2 missed appointments was told they wouldnt be doing the job. Wasted time when I could have got the job done by someone else. Missed 2 days of work waiting for no one to arrive. Probably the worst service I have received. I would avoid them at all costs.

I now have been dealing with Cape Carpenters for a few months for various work that we needed to get done at our different clinics. The last project was the upgrading of our kitchen facility cupboards. Not only did they commit themselves to complete the work in time for our Department of Health Inspection, they also went out their way to attend to some additional work that we required at no extra cost to us. The end result, absolutely brilliant. We are truly grateful for their expertise/dedication/professionalism to their workmanship. It is not everyday that you come across contractors with this type of attitude. I am looking forward to long standing relationship with them and is looking forward to the other projects that will be happening within the next two weeks. Towards the end of May 2017 I approached the Cape Carpenters and Woodworkers Co-operative for a quote to replace the wooden floor in one of the rooms in our house in Kenilworth. The quote I received was better than other quotes so we gave the Co-operative the go-ahead. The removal of the floor, the replacement of all the original joists with new joists, the installation of a new tongue and groove pine floor. sanding.and multiple coats of a water-based varnish took a total of five days. Neville Wolhuter of the Co-operative oversaw the entire job. The two workmen were polite and scrupulously clean - at the end of the day the work space was spotless. But perhaps it is the contact with Mr Wolhuter that was the most satisfying aspect of this transaction. He is passionate about detail, about fine workmanship and is a very generous man. He is a craftsman, a very rare thing indeed in this day of mass production and disappearing standards. The person in charge of admin, Bridget, is prompt, polite and extremely efficient. This was a very positive experience indeed.
