I was a bit anxious when I first got on to this deal because it was pretty good. I thought the car was going to be quite old or something. I was very pleased when we were handed the keys to a near new Xtrail in great condition which drove like a dream.Very helpful service prior with good information. A few issues with the Mozambique border crossing regarding the bank letter but that may just be the dodgy border guards. Dont get me started. However I would recommend to get a bank letter to avoid this.

So I dealt with a guy named Alex and to say he is exceptionally helpful is an understatement. So Drive Africa is a rental broker and they partner with various rental companies, in our case Thrifty car rental. Alex processed all the paperwork from his side way in advance and sent through to Thrifty. On the day before our trip to Mozambique, Thrifty called me to say that the boarder letter had been declined because my licence were issued in different countries. I then called Alex with no doubt that he was going to sort my issue out as I had read nothing but positive reviews from google. He went the extra mile to ensure that we get the vehicle ready for our trip. I am very grateful to Alex and really appreciate his work ethics. At first I was a little skeptical due to Drive Africa almost having too many glowing reviews on here, but Im happy to say that skepticism was misplaced. My friend and I arrived in Cape Town with a plan to buy a motorbike and ride to Tanzania. We had little idea what would be needed in terms of documentation for crossing borders in Southern Africa. Drive Africa (do NOT confuse with similar name which includes South) has been a great company to do business with this past 7 months. I was their last buy back client. We have travelled 33,000 Kms from Cape Town to Dar es Salaam and backin the last 7 months and received our promised buy back price with no quibbles. I personally know 1 of their clients who returns every year - because the service is that good. If you are under 21, I bet you cant get a better car rental deal than with Drive Africa.

My husband and I will be visiting South Africa later this year and used our Google internet search engine to source car rental companies. We came across Drive Africa (Pty) Limited and then bombarded the Company with many, many questions. We are retired and needed a lot of information regarding our trip. We wanted car hire in two stages - one with a cross-boarder trip and a one way drop-off from Johannesburg to Cape Town. This was accomplished after a lot of patience from Alex, answering a myriad of questions from us. I rented a 4x4 vehicle for my two week roundtrip from Cape Town to Northern Namibia.It was already the 2nd time that I had a car from Drive Africa and the service was always great. They patiently answered all my questions, especially before my first trip to South Africa two years ago.I had a flat tyre, luckily in Windhoek. I got a new used spare tyre from a local car garage. I was really surprised that they didnt charge me for the broken tyre. Altogether a great service!!

I can recommend 100% Drive Africa.Have lived for 4 months in Cape Town and made at the same time a few trips through the country, for example, off-road in the Cederberg, Karoo (including Swartberg Pass), etc., Accordingly, I had rented a four-wheel pick-up and was in the 4 Months over 6000km long not disappointed. Top maintained vehicle, faster us very good service, because: I was additionally supplied with insider tips that are not in any travel guide. Great car in top condition and a very nice, attentive, round-the-clock reachable team. Gladly again!PS: as I discovered, you can rent cars for all other countries via the website. So I have just booked a cheaper offer for Sweden than the usual websites in Germany offer.

Why you should choose DriveAfricaFrom October 2002 to February 2003, together with my girlfriend, I spent five months vacationing in southern Africa (South Africa, Botswana and Namibia). We wanted a vehicle of our own for that time and we were looking for a suitable company to sell cars with a buyback guarantee to tourists. With the help of the travel agency Globetrotter, we came across DriveAfrica, based in Cape Town.We were picked up at the airport in Cape Town by DriveAfrica and were able to take over our vehicle (Toyota Hilux, fully equipped) in perfect condition. We started our journey and could always rely on our vehicle. At the end of November 2002 we reached Durban and planned to spend the night in a backpacker hotel for two nights. In the early evening of the second day our car was stolen in front of the hotel. The car was parked in a driveway, barely visible from the street! Immediately we activated the Bandit Intertrac, but the car was never found again. Of course, we immediately contacted Alex Jochheim, CEO of DriveAfrica.He suggested we return to Cape Town and he would see that we would get a new vehicle immediately. The next day we flew from Durban to Cape Town and were received by Alex Jochheim at the airport. He offered us that we could live at his home for 4-5 days until our new car would be ready! Very uncomplicated we could work on the whole incident and after five days we continued our journey!
