What a great place. The only entrance is a side street. The show room is not packed as it was. Maybe it is because of the upgrade of the store. This is the only place that really specialize in wood. I have tried other stores for wood ceilings but they only sell one size. This place even cut wood to your specifications. I saw 2 massive stores. This is fully packed with products. They are really cheap with there wood products. Make a effort to see for yourself. Friendly staff. Very helpful. They really know what they are doing

I spent thousands of Rands and they gave me the wrong boards and refused to refund me for their mishap.I purchased boards and I asked for a specific size, but they gave me and made me pay for the wrong size.When I made the order I was very specific of the size, and when I got a higher quote than expected I asked if the details were correct and the clerk confirmed that they were. I paid, fetched my boards and then went to hand them over to my contractor. Minutes later (after already having started work), we realised that the boards were too thick.I went to Somerset Timbers, they confirmed that the issue was on their side - that they were responsible for giving me boards that were too thick... however they refused to compensate for the fault that was their doing.Ultimately they tried to flip the blame on the customer, and said that it was my fault that I did not check the boards when I collected them - this logic doesnt make sense because nobody checks a 2L bottle of milk before they leave the store.I am so disappointed in these people and hope that others learn from my (expensive) experience with them.

I live in Simons Town and have purchased from them twice in the last 18 months - I have had excellent service from the sales guy ( sorry cannot remember his name) and the delivery team has been excellent as well. Their prices for wood and delivery is less than what it would cost me to buy locally. Will always recommend them and I am going to be using them again next week.

I ordered and paid for material to be delivered, and they have completely left me hanging. Theyve missed 2 delivery dates and I have labour on site doing nothing.

Been trying to get hold of them for weeks now, but to no avail. No messages on their website that theyve closed over the holiday period, no automatic return messages on their emails to say theyve closed for the holidays, and Google says theyre currently open, yet no one ever answers the phone.If youre that good at customer service, you should let the public know that youve closed for the holidays. Or answer your phones if youre open.

Ordering from Somerset Timbers has been a pleasant experience. Ive ordered from them three times now and every time they have been friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The wood arrived quickly and was neatly bundled. I live in Cape Town, not Somerset West. There are closer places to buy wood, but its just easier to order from Somerset Timbers. I love the fact they have a price list that lists all their products so you can easily work out how much your project will cost without having to call or email for quotes.

Every aspect of my dealings with Somerset Timbers has been so professional and efficient, from the tricky question about whether to use wood or concrete to dealing with a return. I wish every aspect of my renovation had been such a pleasant experience. A lot of suppliers could learn about customer service from Somerset Timbers. Thanks guys.
