I didnt know this was actually inside a hotel, in fact, the Hyatt Hotel in Cape Town CBD. My wife and I were strolling in the area and searched Google for Halaal breakfast spots... Nonetheless, great setup, loved the ambience, the above the norm welcoming and friendly service and I dont even have to mention the food, that in itself was a bonus. Had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back to try dinner.

The decor and layout of the restaurant is ideal for interpersonal dining, however was somewhat disappointed with the overall quality of food, of service and delivery. The rib-eye steak was average, maybe 5/10, not flame grilled but on a flat plan. Side dish was served cold, sent back for reheating.Service was average but slower than expected at such an expensive looking venue. The room was cold and we asked to turn up the heat slightly. Try settling R90 for a 1litre bottle of table water, hugely overpriced for any thirsty local. Overall too expensive if you expecting a dinner night out, especially if the quality is not 10/10.

Prices are very steep for small portions (probably to be expected from a fine dining restaurant), but we were surprised by the lack of flavour and substance of the main courses. We ordered saj breads (basically naan breads with a filling). The taste was good but the bread wasnt properly fried/cooked so the edges were raw dough.3 of the dishes we wanted were not available. So we took the roast chicken (title: home away from home) and the duck duo. No flavour or seasoning in either main course. Also, the menu description including items that were not served in the dish. The tea and iced coffee were really good, and the deconstructed carrot cake dessert was amazing. The meringue dessert was just okay. Desserts were well priced though. The table next to us ordered steaks and immediately asked for a salt shaker, so Im assuming it also lacked a bit of flavour. The hostess became our waitress and offered exceptional service. Our actual waitress had an intern badge, and definitely wasnt trained because she claimed she had no idea what the dishes tasted like, nor how they were made or looked. If you go, they validate your parking so no need to park outside.MIGHT go back for dessert and coffee, but not for a meal.

Had my sisters 50th Birthday dinner here with just get closest foot and friends, we had our own section with one very long table and our own buffet section, the decor, ambiance was stunning and all the staff was on point, all the food/ desserts was delightful and a satisfying variety of dishes, its an Halaal 5 star fine dining experience and one I wont forget soon, thanks to Janne and her team that helped me with the planning and arranging the birthday dinner and to Chef Jonathan for his beautiful menu and the delicious food prepared for us

Pretty slick service, chic and modern decor and a very relaxed atmosphere make for a really enjoyable dining experience. The menu is very eclectic and varied, so if burgers, fish & chips or pizza are your thing, this isnt for you. The dessert options were with limited and unusual, but giving a nod to the traditional, like crème brulee out chocolate mousse wouldnt hurt. Its also halaal, therefore no alcohol is served. It was quite pricey, but thats fully expected given its CBD location.

Just returned from this restaurant with my family and wasted no time to pen my absolute dissapointment. The executive chef has no idea of Indian foodButter chicken with drumstick and wings and not a single piece of breast and lacked flavour and was diluted. There was nothing on this menu bar the lentil soup that had any flavour. We truly looked forward to this well advertised Ramadaan menu which is very confusing when explained at the restaurant .Not even dates to break our fast at the table, only a glass of normal tap water.Only upon asking did the waitress scurry around and appeared some 10min later with dates. The food was beyond bland,it was sheer unappetising . Marvin displayed a very pleasant demeanour fully aware that not only our table but the one next to us celebrating someones birthday were even more dissapointed. They like us also called the chef to their table and I must have heard the word tasteless at least 8 times.I noticed upon leaving that their table had also not indulged in the items ordered with full servings visible .Whilst the restaurant was relatively quiet The staff seemed absolutely clueless with our waitress even asking can I leave this extra butter chicken here to improve the ambience.PLEASE FIX AND VERY QUICKLY TOO if you truly want to attract patrons to this restaurant.Nothing wrong with the ambience itself. We even cancelled the fruit platter at the end which is part of the paid menu as we could not face further dissapointments and ended up taking the kids to McDs straight afterwards.I have Hyatt memebership and urge the Hotel Group to investigate immediately. One again I must state that the staff especially Marvin was open to the criticism and truly put up a brave front fully cognizant that there are problems to deal with..My worst dining experience ever

Absolutely the worst experience. Im writing this review while I await my dessert which will probably take a while like the rest of the courses. We booked for the set menu a few days ago only to be told after a 15min wait that they had run out of samoosas. There were only about 5 other people in the restaurant. My soup was cold and had a hair in it.Appetite gone after that lovely surprise. The waiter although very sweet was extremely inexperienced. He kept forgetting our orders which is shocking considering its a set menu. The butter chicken arrived after another 30min wait and Lo and behold was cold and the roti and naan was forgotten. It was at this point that I decided to complain onto to he told they were understaffed and no apology offered.Worst experience and terribly overpriced.

If I could give zero stars I wouldFirstly the menu is terribly confusing but thats least of the problems- the soup looked like dish washing liquid and lacked taste and flavour- the veda was terribly cooked. The pea dhall had not been cleaned and grinded and the taste was horrible- the salad looked like a dogs breakfastMains:- the roti was thick. Floury. Stale. Hard and no tasteThe mutton (few pieces in there) was hard. Lacked tasteThe butter chicken has skin on and bones. And was rawWe had to ask 3 times for cutlery and plates!Pathetic service and foodDont waste your time going there

The establishment is located at the Hyatt hotel in the Cape Town CBD. Food was a bit under whelming. Made a booking for breakfast. Had the Eggs royal. The hollandaise sauce was thick and not that tasty. Eggs were over cooked. My partner requested a dish with grilled halloumi only to be told even though it was on the menu, they did not have halloumi in stock. All in all not a wonderful experience. On another note, be prepared to pay for parking at the hotel. The staff refused to validate our parking ticket.

We celebrated a birthday dinner and had an awesome time. We were a group of 14. The food was amazing, just the right amount of spice in the curry and I also recommend their beef fillet. From making the reservation through to the evening everything was very easy. When we arrived the staff was very friendly and helpful and advised what would work best to ensure we didn’t wait to long for our food and to ensure we all got our food at the same time.We enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. Setting and decor of high standards. Thank you for making our evening. Will definitely return.

We were very much looking forward to the experience at the restaurant, given the all halal concept. We arrived to a very quiet seated area and the menu didn’t offer too much in a way of variety. When our food arrived it looked good, however it underwhelmed. The meat (for all present) wasn’t cooked as requested and was wholly inconsistent. I definitely will not be returning to explore anything else on their menu.

The 1 star is for the decor. Sevice at a snail pace in an almost empty restaurant. Sticky cutlery . 3/5 at our table were disappointed with their main course lack of flavour. There seems to be limited halaal fine dining options so its understandable that a certain group might find this place appealing. Sub-standard.

Service was pathetic so was the food. Waiter kept on getting the order wrong. Food came almost an hour later. When we finally started eating, everyone kept on coming to ask how the food was. Tables were dirty and sticky. Glasses chipped. Billed us for a 300g fillet instead of 200g. Then had to wait again because they at first didnt want to refund me and only afterwards decided to charge the proper price. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ‘Ž

So went here for a date night with the wife. Made a booking which was so not required as the place was empty! Then got a call 30 minutes later asking if Im coming through... Mains was fair, they had a menu change like 3 weeks before. New and old menus were given to us and the difference in the 2 menus was extreme. We ordered a total of 5 mains before we eventually got what they had available. Dessert... run away run far away. Bruléé good gracious all of 0 bruléé was more of a mousse. Panna cotta.... after asking how it is served and told on a plate with loads of wobble it arrived in a glass... the glass was softer to chew through! Way too much gelatine and actually inedible. Fine dinning... hell no. Over priced... YES. Service....sub standard. Do not waste your time

It took too long for us to be waited on once we were seated. My wife ordered a lamb wrap. The lamb was somewhat tough.I order the Rib-eye steak which is 1 of the most expensive dishes on the menu. It arrived and it was the dryest, toughest piece of meat Id ever seen. Sent it back and, after a wait they sent me another. This time it was tough and raw inside. I cut the meat and there would be a pool of red liquid oozing out. Sent it back again and the chef came to speak to us saying that thats how med-well generally is(pff), but he was quite apologetic.I wasnt prepared to wait for another failed attempt, so I asked for the bill, and they tried charged me for the failed steak, when I had no more than 2 forks of either plate. I sent the bill back as well.So 1 mediocre meal and 3 returns. Says a lot.

This is NOT a gourmet restaurant and it is also open for lunch, apparently it has been mixed up with Hiltons evening restaurant. Rating: Unfortunately not possible! Went here for lunch and neglected to read the reviews on tripadvisor, gross mistake. The music was too loud (the staff had fun), the steak had not the promised 300g but 200g and was almost through instead of as ordered medium, the Thai Green Chicken Curry was a red curry, it did not come with roti as intended on the menu AND Poppadum, but without the latter, whenever you asked about it, the waitress was irritated, strange too, so international guests in Cape Town ... But the worst thing is that the bank with which the credit card payment is made apparently asks whether it is debited in ZAR or in EUR the waitress chose EUR without asking us, with the effect of a bad exchange rate AND 3.5% commission for Reuters, unbelievable .... Stay away! Definitely not worthy of a Hilton hotel. For information: The restaurant is halal, so it does not offer alcohol, with its location on the Bo-Kaap perhaps corresponding to the majority of the clientele.
