Quiet, pleasant atmosphere. Books a bit pricey

Super experience! Lovely bookshop and very nice that they sell books by local writers - at better prices than the big bookstores. Will definitely shop here again!

You really, really have to visit Kalk Bay Books - even if you dont purchase a book (which will be hard), youll leave feeling youve been in the presence of beautiful people and certainly, beautiful books...

A really very special book store housed in a historical building with a huge selection of books, beautifully displayed.I just attended an interesting book launch at this well stocked book store. The store was packed with a gathering of enthusiastic, well informed readers.I bought a copy of The Last Elephants, a publication filled with interesting facts an incredible photographs.

Great and variety selection of novels and books. Honestly one of my favourite book stores of all time. The owner doesnt mind if you pick up and look through the books, making the selection process for your next read even better.

Cute coastal village. The roads can get a little congested on sunny weekends. Theres a great ice cream joint and (much more) on the main road so park the car and walk it.

I have consistently been able to get great advice on a broad array of books from Kalk Bay Books. They’re moving locations within Kalk Bay soon so do look out for them near the Kalk Bay Theatre. Carmen especially has given me some marvelous recommendations over the years.

This is a really beautiful bookshop. The space is warm and inviting. There is an excellent selection of books, both local and international, and the displays make it easy to find something that you’d love to read. It is definitely worth a visit on your ramble through picturesque Kalk Bay.

Great books do stop in!!

Great selection of some more difficult to find books, reasonably priced when compared to the big chain book stores in South Africa - a must stop when in Kalk Bay even if its just to get a feel of Kalk Bay

Kalk Bay Books is a gem for readers, writers and book lovers. Cross the threshold with the spirit of an adventurer and spend time exploring the displays, enjoy the titles, notice the covers, feel the heft of a book in your hand. Kalk Bay Books is a multi sensory experience. Look out for the table with staff favourites, make yourself comfy on a couch, spend a while browsing and then only choose your purchases. Be sure to sign up for their mailing list so as not to miss any book launches or other Tuesday night functions. Of course you can just pop in and ask a staff member for the book you want and be done in a minute or two. Either way Kalk Bay Books will become a firm favourite.

I went to this shop a while back and bought my kids some books just because I loved the shop so much. Please let me know if we can buy a voucher or order on line at the moment. I want shops like this to survive.

Kalk Bay Books has a lovely selection. This cozy store has a seating area with couches making it the perfect place to stop and spend a moment choosing your books. They host lovely events from time to time and have a good selection of books by South African authors. I have found some unique books there that I have not been able to find in other stores and have found the staff friendly, welcoming and helpful. I highly reccommend visiting this store next time you are in Kalk Bay.

So relieved to find the shop still here: has just moved behind the original location. Still a great range of books.

A beautiful bookshop that smells of books. Gorgeous. Great selection and the top section has some hidden second hand gems. A must-visit in Kalk Bay after breakfast or lunch.

This is a rare gem. It has a wonderfully curated list of books, put together by people who are passionate readers. I could spend a long time choosing my next read here.

Good range of books.Difficult to leave without buying something.

Love this little bookshop! Surrounded by great coffee shops, restaurants and sea air. Tranquil and therapeutic. Be sure to go upstairs and snoop around the fantasy section!

I never leave the store without finding a great book. My dog loves this place and they love having her visit - what more can they ask for. If Main Rd is too busy on a nice day, dive into Kalk Bay Books for a few minutes of peace.

My favorite book shop in Cape Town. Great selection of authors and a decent childrens section. They have a decent selection of international magazines and newspapers. Its connected to a cafe called The Annex, making it the perfect place to pick up something to read before settling down with a coffee next door.
