Wonderful library in downtown, inside you can feel a special vibe. Authentic place full of culture and history where you can find new book and second hand ones about several topics! The library is on two floors and its amazing, armchair everywhere, you can sit down and read and consult books, take your time and decide! Go there early so you have all the time to decide!

This is a lovely place to browse and look for treasures. It stocks mostly South African, African, academic, historical and art books. They also sell antique prints. A lovely place to spend an afternoon. The staff is exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable.

The kind of bookshop you see in NY movies. Quaint and loaded with books. Judges and Lawyers from the nearby High court get their books from this shop

What an amazing bookstore. Be sure to go upstairs where the out of print and older books are kept. Engage with the staff who are exceptionally knowledgeable of what they have and where it is likely to be. I found such amazing books that I did not even know I wanted 😁

This bookstore is surrounded by many bars and is easy to be ignored. I like this place. The service of this bookstore is great. I asked the staff about books related to South African tales and symbols. She searched and provided me many useful suggestions. I did appreciated. I bought these two books. Especially the Myths and Legends is the first edition (1979) and the price is for me. Please come and take an advanced in the bookstore.

I have been buying books from here since the early 80s - an iconic and historical presence in Long Street. Believe it or not, there was a time that upper Long Street was something much more palatable - before the rot and sleaze set in...

When I walked in I was greeted with the beautiful sight of organized chaos of books. If you are not an experience campaigner in bookstores, you will spend quite some time searching among the thousands of titles. The shelves are labeled clearly so one can detect the attempt to create order among the chaos. The service was superb though and after being silently investigated with wondering eyes by employees you feel more welcome as you spend more hours there.

Wonderful book store located on Cape Towns famous (infamous?) Long Street. Great selection of Local fiction and non-fiction, as well as antique and collectors items. Unfortunately there is no indication that this establishment is contributing to social welfare.

Great old style bookshop. As a visitor to Cape Town the staff made some great suggestions on contemporary South African fiction. This bookshop was also established by the guy who saved Piero della Francescas painting The Resurrection by refusing to shell the Itallian town of Sancepolcro. His name was Anthony Clarke a war hero.
