From my point of view, this is the best wine bar in the world; Of course, they serve some great ordinary wines from the Cape region, but also the group of people creates quite a unique familiar atmosphere.

Excellent wine experience - something you wouldn’t get in the more traditional winelands of South Africa. Recommend asking lots of questions - you’ll be introduced to lots of small, independent wineries and the sommelier took the time to explain the complexities and what may stand out on our palate. Great space and location. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area (or not).

First Experience and it was amazing....the white wine selection last night made it so difficult for me to choose 😍 the staff is so knowledgeable and very visible. its just too small a space with minimal ventilation and a crappy view. their Duck and Beets dish is the best thing Ive tasted this year. big ups!also happy to hear about their plans for extending premises.

Highly recommended. Excellent wines, wonderful experience and fantastic ambience. Intimate “smaller” space in a buzzing neighbourhood. Great service and very knowledgeable and welcoming staff. A cozy wine bar to go to for a few drinks - whether you’re catching up with friends or enjoying a date night.

Highly recommend going to Publik! My wife and I went while on our honeymoon In Cape Town. Dominic allowed us to try several wines before choosing which we wanted to drink. We each had a couple of different wines and they all were delicious. We also ordered the rosemary nuts, which changed our lives! We had such a great experience that we went back again the next night! Dominic and the rest of the staff were so welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable. If we’re ever back in Cape Town, we will absolutely go back to Publik!

The go to place in CT for unique wines, friendly service and great vibes. Love this place. The small plates (try the meatballs) are just as good as the excellent wines. The staff are knowledgeable about the local wine scene, which makes for a great experience trying new glasses (or bottles) 😉

A wonderful venue with an awesome Cape Town ambiance. The cheese and meat platters are delicious and the wine selection is vast. This is a pricey restaurant, but its worth treating yourself. The service is excellent.

Ive lived around the corner from Publik for a few months now and have always wanted to go in. Last night I finally got the chance and Im so happy I did! The wine selection was vast and everything we had was delicious (particularly the red wine selection). We didnt have mains but the tapas were incredible - perfect amounts and flavours. The atmosphere was relaxed and intimate, perfect for big drinks thing or date.

Its nice that they offer you wines to taste before you buy. Bartenders are awesome. However, their wine glasses dont have stems! Also seems to be just the bar section of the Ash restaurant. A little pricey.

A little gem that just replaced the previous little restaurant that was there. Publik have recently moved into this space. A selection of boutique wines nothing mainstream here with snack options. Chat to the owner Chris behind the bar great guy.

Amazing wine, cool company. Ask Chris behind the bar (the guy in the hat) for recommendations as the wine list is extensive and quite eclectic. The charcuterie is also incredible.

Good wine, but very cramped and uncomfortable seating. Also, the oven had broken down so very limited food options. Very expensive.

Very pricey for what you get in terms of cuisine. Not bad at all, just not as good as youd expect for R900 for two. Pretty small menu with some very unusual items so not a good place for a fussy diner.

As yearly Cape Town visitors Publik used to be our favorite place to go for wine and cheese. We were dissappointed to see them dissapear from Church Street but happy to rond they are still around at Tamboerskloof. However, we were faced with our own overpromise. In our minds this was still the same place but with a new location the concept changes as well. The overall vibe is more intimate, more like a wine pub. Still great wines - great platters, just a bit different. Go here, its awesome. If you ever been to publik at church street, don’t go here. Your previous experience might influence your judgement.
