Went to Checkers Plumstead to post a parcel via Aramex. The lady at Money Market said the person responsible hadnt ordered waybill bags, then told me to rather go to Pick n Pay - they will be able to help me. Despite running a small business close by, we use this Checkers branch only as a last resort, after years of bad experiences due to poor management and training.

Yesterday I bought a bottle of Bacardi which was on special, *buy a Bacardi and get a Pringle free* only to see it is expired, how do you have something expired on the shelf?

Thursday afternoon at 17h45 and queues are nearly half way down the isles. Only 4 tellers open.EDIT: I feel I owe a revision (from 3 to 4 stars) because I noticed a manager and pointed out the situation to him and he quickly sorted it out. Strangely, though, he never said a word to me, just walked off and ... well, he at least did something. This is typical of interaction with Checkers staff; they communicate quite poorly.

Large supermarket part of an established brand offering excellent prices and regular specials.Well stocked with a huge variety of products including an in-house bakery and butchery.Has a separate liquor store on the premises. Has ample shared parking but it can fill up quickly. Conveniently located with Plumstead railway station immediately behind the building.

Checkers was clean well organized and the staff was very helpful. Covid-19 regulations adhered to.

They sold me an airtime voucher which was invalid when I spoke to the manager he said there is nothing he can do, when I called the service provide (Cell C) they informed me that the voucher was used 4 days earlier. I remember a Cell C consultant gave me the number that used the voucher before I even bought it, and the manager did not even care to take that number down nor he was even willing to refund me.

I am not impressed with the service I received today. I asked to be transferred to the butchery section and no-one answered. I tried ar least 3 times. I am loyal customer and this is the service I received. Dissatisfied customers.

What a bad experience, staff have attitude.The Manager by the name of Zolani was very rude and showed unwillingness to help and dared me to complain.

Do the staff at this store understand social distancing? Three checkers workers together, behind me in the queue - one of them standing directly to my right, and the other two right behind me. This was in the space between the row of cashiers and the aisles, so the four of us clumped together meant that shoppers couldnt pass through easily. Is it because the tape lines are missing in some of the aisles? Please remind your employees about the virus, and please replace the tape lines on the floor for social distancing.

I usually go quite early in the morning, before there are many customers. Most of the floor staff and fruit dept staff are friendly. The bakery is terrible - the staff are surly, slow moving and NEVER greet. Last week, I asked for 6 rolls that were already pre-packed. The helper said there were none. When I pointed to them behind her, there was no apology for a mistake - the scowl simply deepened. Yesterday, I asked for two cakes and two pies. I received one cake and two mini pies. I repeated my order and received my second cake and a paper bag with my pies. When I got home, I found they were not pies, but sausage rolls. This is not the first time they have got my order wrong. I make a point of trying to speak loudly and clearly through my mask, so that is not an excuse. Are the staff trying to spite the customers, to irritate them, or simply incompetent? Checkers upper management should go unannounced one day and try to buy something there. But go early in the morning, so the staff cannot say they are over-worked (which they are not).

Such a popular and large store yet they never have stock! Terrible service as there is never anyone who works there present and available to help. If youre deciding between Plumstead and Constantia, definitely choose Constantia or even driving to Tokai would make more sense than going to this Checkers.

The new management team doing their best to pick up where Fathima and the old team left off. Some basic food items arent always in stock and staff mention that there is none in the storeroom. 1 big issue is not having enough cashiers on duty during very busy periods (pay day/mid to late afternoon) but other than that, the store is definitely one of the friendliest.Unfortunately their hot foods section needs some work, the staff would rather finish up the conversations than assist you, and when they do finally help you, you receive attitude with your food.Dont forget to ask for your free Xtra savings card that they just introduced,you will have great savings on certain products in store.

Water tank and pipeing system very impressive with the pipe end fitting so that your hands dont touch the spout end that fills the bottle and even sanitizer at the tank ....well done none of the shoprite stores tbought of that ......well done checkers Plumstead!!!

The place is physically cramped, and almost never has the products were looking for. Good for a quick buy if you are low on something they should stock, but dont expect them to have a lot it it. The staff are always friendly, so they have that going for them at least.

Sixty60 app, if they select an alternative for you that you dont want (like they swapped rice milk for almond milk for me...in this allergy age), you can only return it instore. No option for them to collect the item. Not ideal.

Cashiers and staff doesnt greet at all!! I gave the cashier my card( Xtra savings) and after she had swiped the card she through it back to me..I was also left to pack my last minute items in my own bag. I tried calling the store to complain but nobody bothered to answer the phones. Dont even think that anybody /management check the reviews of this store!! Unhappy customer

The people of this shop is very dishonest with the costumers. They leave the old prices on the packaging and let you pay for the price that you didnt see. And in South Africa the customers are always right. I saw a plant pot for R8 and they let me pay R29. When I said that not the price so they lady went to check and change the price. When I went with the second time so the price changed.And I think its very wrong. Just because im a teenager they can pull such a move.

Checkers claims to have the best chocolate brownies. I tried or today and at R7,99 each they are good although I think they can be a bit bigger. I would be happy to pay more. Chocolate Brownies and take away Coffee way to go🍮

One shop: Coco for sale R29:99 they charge R39.99, Lint chocolate on sale for R29:99 they charged R42:99. R23 extra they changed me. Coincidence? What about the people who dont double check their slips? They are so overpriced anyway and then they still want to lie about prices and overcharge. And still waste my time returning it. Not impressed and not fair.

It is always a pleasure shopping at Checkers Plumstead. It has everything I need and I am always satisfied with my purchases. Whats even greater is the free parking.

They often struggle to handle the rush of the day. Bit the store is big and well stocked. They regularly have sales on cheeses and put out tasters - I regularly take advantage of this to buy party favours.

Not impressed with staff at the cold meat and salads. Lady weight all my roast meats and salads. I wanted 2 hot Russian sausages, she refuse 2 get it for me told me i must go and stand in the long line of the warm foods. I refused and left

Checkers Plumstead is my best supermarket especially for its convenience in that it is right by the train station as I use public transport. Their meet is the best in town plus most things are available in store.

Fairly decent amount of parking but a bit clogged on Saturdays. Recently renovated inside. Good quality produce and decent specials almost everyday from 4:30 onwards (earlier on Saturdays, midday). Nice wide aisles. No decent bag check though. Full services for playing the lottery and collecting Computicket tickets. You can also draw money at the checkout using your credit card. Overall well recommended. Some Checkers are a bit seedy but not this one.

There is no minus star unfortunately.. shocking store. Customer service non-existent. Staff unfriendly. Overcharging on specials.. be careful to check your till slip... Manager non-involvment so evident. I keep giving them a chance..each time I go there.. but they cannot redeem themselves.. Regional Managers should pay a visit incognito ...

This is definetly one of my favourite Checkers stores. Really well stocked, except well they have specials where you wouldnt get half of the things as they fly off the shelves. This Checkers is situated in a centre setup where you would find other well-known stores including Cash Crusaders. In this centre is also where you would find the Plumstead Spur.

It was very nice. Always clean. Just wish the staff were a bit more friendly. But they are very helpful.

The most awful experience ever. Stood in line in bakery for half hour. 1 person serving going at a snails pace. I asked for the manager of the bakery and was told not here. I went to the service desk and asked for the store manager. The lady went to an internal telephone to page the manager. after much giggling on the phone she said you can wait here of you want. He will come when he is done doing what he is busy with. I waited a few minutes and then went back to the bakery. My daughter was in line and was then 2nd in line. The person serving took her time causing many to leave the line. The rest of the staff started leaving the bakery and saying the others are not there to take over. at no time were any of them concerned about the customer.

Well laid out shop, always clean. Plenty of free parking but hectic Saturdays. Good selection of fresh produce.

I am always disappointed with the service I get at Checkers Plumstead, but because I work right next to them I go there. Today was extra frustrating, as I only get 30 minutes lunch break and today after standing in a ridiculously long queue had to leave just to stand in another queue outside at the ATM as Checkers was offline and only took cash and the I had to go back inside and stand in another long queue at the Express tills that only had 2 tills to pay for one bread. Needless to say that I spent my 30 minutes lunch trying to pay for the bread and I find that totally unacceptable.

Good size supermarket. Good prices. Really nice ready-made food.

This Checkers takes the cake when it comes to customer service 😠staff just could NOT be bothered to smile. Awrr!!! However, that should NOT be your main concern. NOT ONE of the staff members in the butchery wear gloves! Not ONE! Not even the guy cutting the bones with a saw. Management should be fired for not insisting on basic health and safety precautions! Totally irresponsible!

The shop has almost every convenience you can think of. prices are quite reasonable compared to other convenience stores. lots of parking available

Sometimes they have good specials but the service is really poor. you can expect to wait a long time in the ques and feel frustrated when you leave. Shopping here is not a pleasant experience. The toys are decent. Only come here if there is no other shop open. Rarely they have a sale of the near expired goods late in the evening before they close. That is worth it, but dont expect many tellars to be open, and the ones that are, dont expect them to work quickly.

Its a standalone Checkers with a few smaller stores surrounding it. There generally tends to be a lot less foot traffic here, so for quick ins n outs, this Checker is ideal. Just beware that there tends to be inadequate parking space available, especially on weekend mornings. The best time to go is during the week, when it is quiet.

Well stocked shop where household needs are adequately met. Staff not over helpful. Parking can be problematic are times.

I find at the bussiest times,only one person at the deli and also by the coffee and returns section.Supervisors are a bit lethargic when having to deal with mistakes at tills.Overall their prices are competitive. I also find the that the staff on the floor dont know where their products are.And management should taste the foods before selling them.I complained quote a while back that their chicken pieces were too salty,and the manager at the time adressed the problem immediately, but hes not their anymore so,the chicken once again is very salty!

Very unhappy with the service, I slipped and fell in a puddle by the vegetable department, I didnt do major damage to myself just got badly bruised. I complained to one of the employees standing in the department, she rolled her eyes and went to call the cleaner. The cleaner wasnt at all happy with having to mop up the water. I phoned the manager the next day to complain about the service and she wasnt too eager to sort out the problem. Anyway they have my complaint and my number. 😒

It does what it needs to do. Its a little crazy and is not great for a quick shop. But its cheap and has all the things.

This is the worse checkers store I ever shoot in not friendly staff dont tlk about the cashiers at the till point these Americans. They either scratch their hair or their scratch in their and makes those funny snoring sound omg its grows. I am editing my review from a 5 (2 years ago) to a 3.Some staff are friendly but today at 16:45 they had 13/21 tills unoccupied and only 2 packers. The queue I was in went into the isle opposite. The teller then packs the groceries, or looks to see if you will do it for them. Also without much haste. If you dont greet, they wont greet first. Not as good as competitive shops.

Disappointingly I write this review. I have been shopping here for years and today is probably the 1st day that I actually requested help from the Branch Manager as Mr Snyders, the floor manager was not in the capacity to help me. I run a Charity Shop that actively helps the community, those living on the streets and the very poor living at the Church serving Meals on Wheels. I approached the Branch Manager asking if he would kindly sell the end of day cooked foods as we were serving the Homeless in the area as it is incredibly cold. I advised that i would PAY for the food and did not expect it for free.The community managed to donate R500 towards this initiative as the cold front grips Cape Town, we wanted to help with blankets, jackets & something warm to eat, etc. He blatantly refused and said i should go through Head Office as they work on a first come first serve basis and was not prepared to keep food aside. I was speechless...truly speechless. This was not a free by, this is for something i was willing to pay for??? Frankly I am absolutely disgusted at the callous nature displayed by Checkers Management (Not all). It must be looked into as you are supported by the greater Plumstead, Diepriver, Steurhof....Hopefully those reading this review will support stores that support the community such as Pick n Pay, Gabriel road.

I would like to commend Phumeza (on the switchboard) on the excellent service. I was looking for a certain wine and I put the phone down when there was no answer from the wine section. Phumeza phoned me back and reconnected me to the wine section. When they didnt have the wine I was looking for she phoned me again and gave me the No of blue route checkers hyper to try. Phumeza is an asset to your company and I was really impressed that she went the extra mile to help a client. Well done!
