I visited this dealership with my wife to look at and test drive a new vehicle I was interested in. From arrival at reception to being introduced to the sales person I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing the staff. It admittedly was a public holiday - 24/9/21 - but they had advertised that they were open. I asked for a printed price list which they could not give me and was told a test drive wasn’t possible because the workshop was closed. After my visit I emailed the sales person - Moray Grobler twice with queries - neither email was responded to. They claim they’ll come to you for test drives… this was never offered to me.I then visited Williams Hunt Isuzu N1 City who went out of their way to assist me with excellent service and I bought my new Isuzu 250 X Rider D/C A/T. The customer experience between the two dealerships was the complete opposite.

While Ive been going to Thorp Plumstead for some time and having been happy with the service Ive received in the past, Im extremely disappointed in the level of customer service over the past 4 working days.Ive been trying to get a provisional quote and book my car in for service since Thursday the 19th. Ive called back numerous times each day and often get pushed back and forth between the parts department and reception.Ive now found a mechanic who values my business and wants to offer good customer service. I would suggest management address their telephonic customer service as who knows what other business theyve lost.

The service from the team was the thing that made all the difference. Constant communication and excellent turn around times. 10/10 would recommend.

I was looking to purchase a new vehicle and trade in my old one and came across Thorp Haval. I met up with the sales consultant Juan Quantoi who was absolutely fantastic!!! He talked me through the car and did an unbiased comparison between other vehicles I was considering and I left knowing without a doubt that I was choosing Haval. After exactly a week I drove out with my new H2 and I couldnt be more happier. Thank you Juan for your amazing commendable service!!! My engine management light was on/flickered and the car had loss of power for more than a week. Eventually booked my car in at Thorp Plumbstead, but on the day the light miraculously disappeared and the car’s power was back. Still I had the agency do fault finding. They couldn’t detect any problem and subsequently did not charge me. I like their honesty and their service was good. I was always informed of what was happening with my car. Desperately needed a Subaru Forester Oil Filler cap after losing mine. A call to Yusuf (spares manager) highlighted bad news as there was no stock of the item. He asked for 5 min and came back with a plan to resolve my problem. Exceptionally grateful for his willingness to go the extra mile for a client. Kudos to you my man. I highly recommend the Thorp service team in Plumstead. They keep you informed whats happening with the car during the service throughout the day. Ive received sms too informing whether the car is going for wash or the service is done.

A disappointing process from start to finish. Thorp werent transparent regarding when the vehicle would be delivered. However, my biggest issue was this: when I viewed the vehicle, there were scratches, dents and nicks as the car was second hand. I was promised by Brad, the salesperson, that everything would be made perfect before I received the vehicle. Sadly and after much delay, this was not done. The car arrived and only the front door had been sorted out. The car had to go back to the panel beaters. A week later, Thorp came to collect the car from me and it was at the panel beaters for a week. When I handed my vehicle over, it had a full tank of petrol and I knew the mileage on the clock. When I received my vehicle back, there was only half a tank of petrol and an extra 170 kms on my clock!!!I am absolutely furious. Although, the manager did fill my tank when I informed him of the situation, he does not have an explanation for me regarding the extra kilometers.Where has my car been??? Maybe I will receive a fine of some sort in the coming weeks which will alert me to that fact as Thorp cannot explain to me where my vehicle was whilst in their care, supposedly not driving anywhere

Staff at Haval very cold, was not interested in my visit. Not sure if it depends on who enters their premises. Want to buy a Haval double cab. But will look for another dealer.

The team at Thorp kept me updated throughout my service and consulted on extra jobs that needed attention. The parts department were very helpful in providing information that assisted me in making a decision.

Very good service and communication

Just had the 80 000km service done on my Subaru Outback and the car came back as dirty as when I dropped it off – inside and out. Some excuse was made about a relationship breakdown with an external contractor, but as a consumer I actually dont care. When you spend R6K+ on a service, you expect a clean car. Simple as that. Or – if you really cant offer a wash – then at least offer a discount on the service fee. A huge fuss was made of sanitising the car key! Please do better next time, Thorp.

Had my 1st encounter today with Thorp Plumstead. Reception and service intake was great, client delivery was out right pathetic and needs loads of work. Got their at 06h55 and was checked in and ready to leave at 07h05... But the drivers didnt look like they knew what they were doing and when I was eventually helped (last) even though I got their 3rd. Client who arrived at 07h50 was taken first with a number of other clients who also got there after 07h30.. I only got taken from service centre at 08h15

Great staff. On further inspection after payment found that the price of the parts were marked up threefold. Will not recommend. Wont use them when our Chevrolet arrives from Australia. Quotes for other work was also multiplied by three.

Trying to deal with these people seem more like a burden to them. Unless you follow up, you dont get any info from them. Even then, you still either hear nothing or wait and wait... and wait.

We are extremely happy with Thorp Haval Plumsteads service experience. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, communication is prompt and thorough, and the dealership really went to great lengths to accommodate our specific situation and requirements. Most importantly, however, we absolutely love our beautiful new Haval H1. Not only does the car look great but it also drives very quietly and smoothly. And we know that we have an excellent dealership behind us when the day comes that our car requires repairs or maintenance. And from very recent personal experience, I can promise you that this is not something to be taken for granted. You absolutely need to support a dealership that you can trust to support you right back. For us, this is Thorp Haval Plumstead.

Thorp Plumstead F&I gave us the worse ever service, after we left tge finance lady we never heard from her ever again. I eventually had to act as the dealer phoning the client. No effort was put into signing any deal as if they have enough business already, also cannot produce a clear and proper quotation which made me very sceptical in doing business with them. I wish i can get a call from the director or owner from THORP PLUNSTEAD as his buisness are not well taken care of. After a approved deal in the table i eventually ancelled the deal. When i phoned in the F&I did not even bother to show interest by asking if i maybe would like another vehicle. People if this is my experience with THORP PLUMSTEAD i believe there has been alot more of these situations. Rather try other dealership.

Lies lies lies. Ive only experienced lies from the service agents at this establishment. They forget to sign your service book happened to me 2 years in a row with them. And when one asks for the old parts back they say its in the boot trust me check, u will find nothing. Lies upon lies upon lies. Had both my chev cruze and chev sonic there and only have this feeling they not carrying out the service truthfully....

What does one have to do to get your service manager to return a call?

I would not recommend servicing a Subaru at this service centre. After two abysmal experiences in the last 6 months, I would suggest taking yoir Subaru elsewhere; yes I am recommendomg driving the hour to Table View or Somerset West

The staff here are very friendly and keeps u up to date with the happenings of your vehicle . Like every other dealer the parts are way over priced. Will recommend this place for anyone with a service plan though

Poor service and extremely over priced. Quoted over R6000 for work that another company quoted just over R2000 to do (which after getting a few more opinions was not necessary anyway), this was some tappet cover replacement. They hide behind jargon on paper that they do not explain in normal human terms.Was also quoted over R500 for a plastic button replacement which, again after going elsewhere, was ordered from JHB for me for only R300.These people even tried to tell me my tires were worn out and when I went to tiger wheel as well as hi-Q they said there is still plenty of life in them.Would recommend almost anywhere else.

Worst customer care I have ever come across. From staff assuring me they will get back to me and never doing so to senior management assuring me a courtesy vehicle and going back on his word and infact being and then blatantly lying saying they never said that just to cover himself This company has no corporate integrity nor values.

The Workshop deserves 0 stars for customer service. Absolutely pathetic! Dont try speak to one of the workshop staff over the phone because they are NEVER available and NEVER phone you back either. The only way to get any type of service from them is to go there in person and cause a scene in front of other would-be customers.

In fact 2 stars is being generous. No follow up no return callas, switchboard abysmal. Unfortunately they the only Havel agents and I want one! Now I’m nervous if their vehicle after sales care will be as bad!!

Took out Subaru XV for a service. The service reception is in need of a bit of TLC. Instant coffee is provided but not offered and little dirty bits in the sugar. Reminds me of a real workshop. Car was serviced but not cleaned inside or out. I suggest go and have a look Volkwagen service centre down the road.

Disappointed beyond explanation. Replacing the seals and yet there is still leakage in my Chev Cruize. I emailed and no body has responded to my complaint...

The worst experience out of all the groups. Told parts will take 5 working days and its been almost 2 months. If I could give them a negative rating I would give them negative infinity. Stay away from Thorpe Plumstead at all costs rather drive to Namibia if you need something done it will be faster and less stressfull

I bought a car through Thorp in October last year. There were minor dents that needed to be fixed by Thorp but had not been done. Made an appointment, the panel beating team hadnt pitched. Mailed the sales guy a few times, he was shocked that this didnt happen even though he knew it didnt happen yet. Mailed him 5 months later, he didnt respond. Mailed him again, still no response. So, I literally bought a car from Thorp Plumstead with dents & scratches which they promised to fix but didnt do. This is completely unprofessional. Do not ever purchase a vehicle before they see through these issues.

Friendly efficient staff, and coffee while you wait. Owned GM vehicles, just wish the parts cost will age with the vehicle. Very costly compared to Japanese

I take back my review for my wifes carIt came in cause of service and failed roadworthy one of the reasons was a leaking exhaustIt went in today and turns it same issue never changed and there is oil leak they never fixed it. You cant tell me you fixed it and it wore off in short few months like that. Even Peugeot Tygervalley could not do such a stuff up.Very bad never will we ever buy a car or service a car from them they are over priced and terrible st their job. Cant pay so much for such nonsense I would accept it if it was a back yard mechanic but it wasnt.You guys made me completely loose faith in Opel or chevy for that matter cause your servicing is terrible.

Unacceptable service. Car went in for a service, was returned dirty. Oil marks all over my door. Also asked to check my wheel, wheel clearly wasnt checked as I need to pump the wheel every second day. Will definitely not be going back.

Guys please stay very far away from Thorp plumstead! Just had the worst service ever! I got told on the phone they would be changing plugs today with my major service only to get there at 4pm having no update on service throughout the day for them to tell me that they just busy taking out the new plugs and putting my old ones back because apparently its not included in my major service 🤔 and waited till 5pm to get told the light bulbs they were meant to have changed, worked but now all of a sudden dont anymore so took about 4 guys to try and get my lights working again. Not one phone call from them throughout the day, I had to call and ask for the final price which was not what I was told on the day I booked the car in for a service. And I was definitely not the only unhappy client you could definitely see others were not happy and some complaining about the same lack of service. Please share far and wide!!! So they know they cant get away with such terrible service.
