My mother and I walked into this shop in search of a side table and we were met by a kind lady who offered to help us. We inquired about the price of one in particular that was positioned amongst other side tables for sale but lacked a price-tag. Unsure, she (gingerly) asked her boss (the owner), who told us in no uncertain terms that if an item in that shop possesses a price-tag, it is purchasable and if it does not, it is not. We proceeded to look around the shop and I came upon another promising option, this time with a tag indicating its price and a corresponding description of the table. The owner, most cantankerously, told me that this table is absolutely not for sale and that if he were to sell it, where would the bowl of coins go if someone were to buy it? How dare I ask -- although, crucially, I didnt. I showed him the tag, which he had just assured me is a surefire way to tell that something in this shop is indeed purchasable. He, now just plain rudely, insinuated, to my mother and I, that we were way out-of-line for even having inspected this table, for, if it were to be sold, where would the bowl of coins go? Now presumably this is a question that he should direct to himself or to his staff. If we had entered this store out of a desire to support a local business, this interaction has relieved us of any feeling of obligation. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

One of my most favorite places in the whole world to visit... not only can you get lost in a world gone by, at great prices, but the people at the Trading Post are just amazing. I hope that Tony and his crew are all safe and sound and that we will get to see them all again when the world makes it safe to travel once more. The Trading Post is a Kalk Bay hallmark - it would not be the same without it. We (my family and I ) so look forward to returning. Che from Germany

Great place. Huge variety of vintage and modern rustic items. Such a nice shop to walk through even if youre not buying anything. Prices are reasonable.

It was awesome. Like going back in time they have almost everything and there prices is very reasonable.

Quirky, quaint or charming is how one can describe all the locations in Kalk Bay, and this is no exception. If hunting for gifts, just browsing around or looking for something out of the ordinary, this might be just the place.Youll find antiques, old coins, maps and home furnishings, stuff that you just want to rummage through. You never know what you might find.Model cars, posters, books... you name it. Well worth a visit and another in the future. Great places to shop, eat and sightsee in the general area too.

Great vintage bargains available at this store. Located in the heart of kalk bay. Accessible via public transport as well as its close to the train station.

I can spend a day getting lost in this place, if you can think about something, it can most likely be hidden somewhere on a shelf. Can only sum this place up as a treasure chest...which they most likely have somewhere in there as well.
