Started training with Barry a week ago. Wow these guys are good, extremely good. Best week I had in a long long time (60 years old). Truely an amazing experience! I was lucky enough to get a ride while there was snow on the Franschhoek mountains. The views was indescribable. Grant was also the best instructor and made the ride even more enjoyable (Thank you Grant!). The heart and genuine interest of Birdmen is all about getting you flying, and with a deeper knowledge of the areas than anyone I know. I would highly recommend Barry and Grant even as a seasoned flier visiting the Cape. In fact don’t visit the cape without your wing. There is no better way to see this part of the world than from the air at the sites they will take you to.

What an exhilarating experience. The guys were completely professional and very patient. I felt completely safe the entire time and would recommend a trip (or many) to anyone.

Having been to a couple of paragliding schools between Switzerland and South Africa I can positively say that Birdmen are top of the class. Not only do I owe them most of the skills I have learned but a renewed (and lasting) motivation for the sport, a deeper understanding of what defines a good pilot (with both Barry and Grant being first class role models) as well as a level of self-sufficiency that allows me to fly confidently on my own. They inspire confidence where needed yet know how to deal with overconfidence in students. Owing to their vast knowledge of sites around the Cape you will always be flying where it is working best, and owing to the vast experience between Barry and Grant they will always know where youll need to improve in order to become a better pilot. Additionally, I never felt like just another student and enjoy guidance and mentorship to this day, well beyond the call of duty of a paragliding school. Grant is absolutely incredible. My partner, with an aggressive fear of heights, decided to Paraglide with Grant because of how professional, calm, and how much of an expert he is in his trade. He will do his best to give you the smoothest and longest and most awesome experience he can, instead of many Paragliding companies Ive been exposed to, where the flight is 3 minutes tops.

Extremely hospitable & simply perfect for paragliding trips around Cape Town (Signal Hill, Porterville, Langebaan, Hermanus, etc.).We were here at the end of December when we as Swiss were no longer allowed to fly home due to Corona. Being with Candice and Barry at this special time was the best that could have happened to us. They are both incredibly hospitable, very familiar and professional.Since we slept right with them (Birdmens Nest), it was very easy to find the perfect spot every day with Barry, who knows the weather and the flight conditions extremely well. Then come home relaxed in the evening and enjoy fantastic food.If you are planning a paragliding trip in South Africa and are looking for a guide, Birdmen Paragliding is definitely the first choice. Well be back 100% and hopefully longer next time!
