Just a nice little collection of farming and living. Not the fancy style, more the very simple things. Some crafts are shown there, making Brandy, baking bread the old style, grinding flour. Just nice and interesting.
The museum are doing their best to preserve the history, but unfortunately Kleinplasie is being looted just about every day bit by bit by criminal elements.
The museum has live stock on the premises, make bread from scratch etc. We went on a quick tour as we were there to work. I have been there before and will definitely go back.
Yet another great history lesson! Clay huts and home made bread. I wont give too much away, go check it out!
Used to be quite special, but now run down and neglected. No staff to explain anything or even answer any questions. Strange policy of random days paid entrance and others free. Maybe if there was an entrance charge every day then they would have some funds for maintenance.Even the person running the shop couldnt be bothered to take off his headphones and stop watching his computer.
The Worcester Museum at Kleinplasie is the oldest agricultural museum in the country. There is an educational program the demonstrates the traditional ways of early European farmers in the southern part of South Africa. From tobacco drying to bread baking, sheep shearing, wool processing, milling, meat processing among other things. Local children attend classes in groups and tour groups visit to see the authentic historical farmyard.
It was interesting from a historical view but it feels a little run down and neglected. Worth a visit though.
Museum were great from the eyesight although i wasnt there for proper visit or tour but theres live exhibition for many people to experience🐾
Simple old style fun and education for all.
Amazing experience for the kids. Nice fresh air, and outdoors family time
I enjoy going to Worcester Museum and petting farm with my 3y/o son.He just loves learning about and seeing everything around the museum and Kleinplasie.Especially riding the donkey car
Beautiful mountain with wild plants to explore at.
Fascinating tour of farmlife in the 1700s. We were especially impressed by the history and how synergy of the indigenous communities of that time. Some of the farm implements and work and cooking tools are still used in breadmaking, soap and candlemaking, tobacco drying etc - visit during the mornings from 9 when most of these activities are in process. Please do a guided tour...Florentzia is so friendly and knows a wealth of information. This is a real hidden gem but well worth the effort
Love it there. Highly recommend. But bring back the witblits.
Pretty run down, but still interesting.
Each time I visit the Kleinplasie Musuem it feels like the place is uncared for, decaying and not progressing, very sad for our town.
Was great when I was young but this Museum has turned to ruins. No one passionate is running it and the staff seems merely there to get a salary. The exhibitions are marked closed mainly. Or under maintenance. The staff are mainly in one house having tea. There are rubbish laying in the exhibits and no one haa dusted around them for agea. The yard with bread and candle making doesnt exist. You walk from house to house seeing the chaos. The old trains are standing outside rusting. If something is so valuable why let it rust.Really worth a skip and as such tourism is a skip in Worcester. The local council should be using and enhancing the museum to increase tourism.
Nice place to see old farming. Dont pay attention to the huge queue and just go in as the queue is not for the museum. We could see beans roasting and grapes sundrying but not bread nor soap making as apparently they are not doing everything everyday. The little restaurant had very nice food despite they didnt get shipped on time so there was only water. We also only had 4 portions of chips for 5 people, they were out of stock. Bit offered delicious panakoek (not sure of the writing) to replace. Very cheap as well
Interesting and educational place . Fun for kids .
Its seen better days Im afraid.
Brilliant Tina at the SA 8ball Nationals
Beautiful place to touch the life of first settlers, to esprit their way
Well informed, lots of notable findings.
Great show the kids the history
What’s the difference between a good joke and a bad joke timing.
It was something special 30 years ago when it was called Kleinplasie. Now it is just another neglected relic of the forgotten era that was South African culture hundreds of years ago.
Very educational
Small but intresting
Interesting but it is run down, not very fun to visit during the week
Sad state of affairs
Good
Everything is neglected and in poor condition, the new owners feel feathers for upgrading the place something that should have descended to our (heritage) children is tumbling into each other and it is so sad ... to put it this way see and see lost ...
Staff are friendly. Very interesting place to visit. You always learn something new.
Very beautiful and informative.
