Its been revamped, and beautiful. You have to go and experience it for yourself. New On The Vaal venue was made for our local talent, singing dancing with a vibey atmosphere. My first time with Shaky Russell on stage, at this venue. A brilliant consept, of intimacy when you enter the theatre of max 70 people. I love it!

The hotel is beautiful and has wonderful views. The rooms do need a little refurbishment including the air con. Room is clean, comfy and with great amenities. There should be another TV added in the lounge of the room as you walk in and not only have one TV in the room where you sleep. Carpets are due for a change also. But great stay overall.

First night nothing great to write about, the room given telephone and tv wasnt working, however after communicating with the staff we were moved to the 5th floor very exquisite room, loved it absolutely beautiful. Their rooms I must comment are very clean. The buffet breakfast nice, the outside swimming pool clean, their golf course good and the inyama restaurant great food. Loved my stay will be definitely going back

Im utterly disappointed....Im heart broken: we received a bad welcome at reception the food we ate for lunch & dinner was terrible, not fresh at & worst part is that our bed was hard I had to sleep on the couch cause I was now getting a migraine.The breakfast is my reason for 2 star rating.. it was wonderful

The Place Was Nice But The Fact That One Cant Even Buy Snacks And To Have Our Own Water To Eat An Drink In Our Rooms Is Really Unnecessary.It Was Also Unfortunate For Me To Be There When The Pool Was Being Renovated Too. But Other Than That The Place Was Not Bad. The View Of The Dam Was Priceless.

This is a very beautiful venue that is very well maintained with very friendly and professional staff. Their tourism rating is way below their delivery and presentation offered. With all the facilities on hand a beautiful view of the river and tranquil setting you will definitely enjoy every second of your stay. Simply Amazing.

The restaurant was a complete let down, from the furniture to the sitting arrangement, it feels like an old dining hall. The food was terrible, no taste whatsoever, the baked potato was appalling. I also ordered the white chocolate mousse and it tasted like cream with condensed milk lol. It’s only ideal for nice pictures as the view of the Vaal river is quite a sight. The whole experience was quite disappointing. They can honestly do better!

Our visit to the restaurant was great, the lady that assisted us with our orders was friendly and very helpful. However, upon going to our room we were highly disappointed at the open electrical plugs and cables lying around, the TV in the room not working and when we called reception to inform them we were told we upgrading but you can watch sabc, which we then tried but that didnt work either. No one informed us of any upgrading going on at this establishment when we booked and we now basically spending R4000 for 2 nights to be bored in an ugly hotel room. Wont happen again. I think we will just check out tomorrow and be refunded instead. Unacceptable! At least warn us so we know what we getting ourselves into.

Absolutely a waste of time. Nothing to do. Weekends are the only time they maybe do something. The boat only operates over weekends. If you arent going for golf then dont bother going. Also dont try to walk around, heaven forbid you walk on the golf course for any sort of activity. Completely disappointed.

It has improved quite a lord since last time I was there, and the food was very good

Staff are friendly but the hotel is quite run down and our room was not clean.While the breakfast is simple, fresh and tasty the other meals at the restaurant are just poor. I ordered their baked Mac and cheese and instead got a bowl of water and flour with macaroni and some cheese sprinkled on top. It was microwaved and liquid like. The other meals were shocking too.The worse part was the lipstick and left over orange pulp in the glass I was given at the restaurant. Even during Covid, they arent properly cleaning the items.When I asked the waiter if wed got them on a bad day, his response was no and that they were constantly receiving complaints from customers.

Wish there was more activitys besides swimming, more channels on the TV as well as furniture and utensils need to be upgraded

Pleasantly surprised, had a lovely couple of days at Riviera on Vaal. Would easily go back again.

Boat ride was great, was a pity the Vaal is so polluted, but thats not really the fault of the resort.

Well what can one say about Riviera. The rough is thick, stay on the fairway. Beautiful views around the course. Great pub and food. Worth the drive out from jhb for the day.

The reception is nice, very welcoming from the driven in entrance, the butlers by the door and the check-in receptionists. The place offers a greenish view with tall trees by the lake and swimming pools.Accommodating for all age groups, offers great parking space and you can book for room accomodation with the various booking platforms without a hustle, but I would recommend to call and inquire about the rooms first before booking as I later learnt that the images/ details of the rooms arent fully outlined on some platform (lol - before booking a suite of 3 rooms by mistake 😀😀)

The buffet meal was ok nothing exciting. I do however want to thank the child minder at the kiddies play area for her exceptional service. Shes good with the kids. I think her name is Bongiwe. The waiters were very friendly and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed the boat ride. I always visit the hotel almost every year because of the beautiful view of the Vaal River.

The resort is nice the cruze was also good looling im just hoping that next time I go I get the 3 slap cruze

Very beautiful venue, breath taking scenery. The food was not good at all, service was not great either. 1 page menu, lunch and dinner same menu. Restaurant did not even make up to us, food took more than hour to arrive for supper.

For a getaway for two or to keep the entire family entertained - the Rivera on Vaal Resort have a list of activities to choose from: fine dining experiences, spa treatments, lounging by the pool area or enjoy an entertaining boat trip on the Vaal river. Definite two thumbs up!!!

Hotel is amazing, very comfortable and nice, fishing is not good as it has notbbeen catered for by the venue, not more than 5 guys can fish, so dont look forward to fishing on this venue. Venue is absolutely clean, restaurant is great. Cruises are nice.One thing though, self catering units should be looked into a bit more, no braai facilities at all, not allow to braai other venue and something that has to change. Staff are very friendly and always assist with a smile. Had a very bad experience with the soncalled part owner Daniel in our room, lots of people and customer skills are required, that the only bad taste left in mouth, as owner one would expect much more decency and respect but anyway.Looking for a quiet getaway, I think this would be a nice venue 👌

I visited Riviera on Vaal just before the national lockdown and it was a good visit!The views from the rooms are amazing...The food wasn’t that great.The staff is very helpful and will make your stay comfortable!The ladies at the spa know their jobs. You can also request a picnic for two by the river which is intimate and romantic and then at night you can book dinner on the boat cruise where it sails at sunset!A 7/10 experience! There is room for improvement.

This place has sooooo much potential! Aaargh It actually breaks my heart!😢 The menu is limited to pub food which doesnt pair well with the surroundings. The food was also quite bland, even for a basic Chips & Fillet steak. A good chef who makes good, wholesome food would radically transform this establishment.

I booked a wedding weekend for my son and his new wife and organised and paid for champagne etc to be in the room for their wedding night (a romantic turndown). Despite emailing through proof of immediate payment 36 hours beforehand, this wasnt done. I phoned and told the reception staff what had happened and they promised to look into it and phone me right back. Over an hour, later and no phonecall, I phoned back to find out what was happening - they had by then phoned my daughter-in-law and told her to wait for an hour and then it would be done.Very disappointing service and very poorly handled.

Dear Sir/ MadamI would like to bring the following to your attention.We were booked into your hotel from the 23-27 April.We encountered the following issues:1. I had done the booking online via your reservation system. I had sent an e-mail asking if payment would be deducted from the credit card and was told that would happen. I received a PDF confirmation see attached which says “Paid in full”. But when we checked in we were told that I had to make payment which I did. The reception and your systems need to all work seamlessly so that customers are not making double payments etc. The correct communication is critical. What if I hadn’t carried my card or had enough money when we arrived thinking that the booking was paid and confirmed.2. We found a towel that still had lipstick on it when she went to shower Friday night.3. The room wasn’t cleaned well, the mugs still had honey in the mugs.4. Friday night, we saw a small rat/mouse run across the room floor. We mentioned this to the reception the next morning expecting some kind of pest control or at least some feedback but nothing was done or advised.5. The room telephone did not work or any of the extensions given which made it very difficult to communicate anything at all.6. The Eskom issue was not the fault of the hotel but some kind of communication/signage could have been put up or sent to guests as we weren’t aware why certain things were not working.7. There were no new towels placed in our room one day and we had to request these but by dialling from cell phones as the landline wasn’t working.8. The breakfast was a very long wait each morning to receive food. Not having enough Danish tarts/croissants surely the hotel knows how many people are booked for breakfast and should have sufficient food.9. The one and only dinner was also an extremely long wait for the food. The orders were incorrect, we requested calamari grilled and it arrived as fried with batter. The shooters ordered were Bob Marleys and we received B52s.10. There was a horrible sewage like smell each day and we did see staff working on what looked like the pipe/drain on the ground.With all of these we were willing to be somewhat understanding but the final straw was the morning the day before check out, where we had noticed R100 missing from a bag. It is impossible to lock every single item in the safe and in fact every item is of value to a person including clothes, toiletries etc. It is unacceptable that someone can go through someone’s bag especially in a time like Covid-19 where hygiene and safety is so important. In fact the cupboards where these items were left should not have been touched at all, what was the need for opening the cupboards? We also know that cleaning staff were putting items in bags so that was probably a way of having a look inside them but once again this should not be done by cleaning staff. We have been to many hotels and they clean around or neaten up but not leave things back in bags etc.Some of these issues were then reported to the manager on duty that morning who took a very defensive approach. The response was arrogant and he actually responded rudely. Coming from a service environment, I know how important it is to listen to customers and provide apologies and possible solutions. Well this was not done and left a very bad taste as we left the hotel. We did not receive any feedback about any of these issues from the manager. The front desk and other staff who do not have the answers were trying to be helpful at times but this was the only redeeming quality about the hotel.

I cannot give a zero so I will say that that 1 star is for the poolside. Breakfast is a menu with no items, served by a rude manger. The rooms have uncontrollable aircon, blocked nose alert. The building needs a face lift, everything is worn-out. Not worth the money or the experience.
