I can’t believe I have a boat and this is the first time I’ve been here!Very pretty place for a nice lunch and some drinks with friends or family. And you have the option to go on a cruise. It gets full pretty quickly so might be best to book.The restaurant is pretty pricey. My husband’s rump steak was tough and overdone so he battled to finish it. My burger, on the other hand, was the size of my head and delicious. Ladies- cosmopolitans are lovelyThe area is well maintained and very cleanI will definitely be back!

Awesome atmosphere, beautiful scenery and very good service even though it was packed. Staff are very accommodating and friendly. Puppy was welcome and well looked after, got water bowl on arrival and could order from the menu. Great venue for a day trip.

Beautiful. Service is slow but it is expected since 1 waiter has to attend to all patrons on the lawn. Food is excellent. Kiddies play area is good. We also did the 50 min boat ride for R100 per person. Very relaxing.

Awesome experience, amazing service

This is a must-visit place when at the Vaal. Always packed, always busy. Plenty of parking, plenty of outside seating, super friendly restaurant staff. Lots of activities you can do either as a family or adults. The playground does get full so if you have kids that need supervision, you might find yourself always near the playground. Would love if they extended it as this is the perfect place where parents can chill outdoors with the kids playing all day. The chicken schnitzel was to die for: fresh, juicy with incredible sauces. I would come back just for the food.

Stonehaven is right on the river edge, with cafe style seating on the grass overlooking the mighty Vaal river.The ambience is very relaxed; a perfect way to end off the day or pop in for lunch either solo or with mates. The menu is quite varied, with the majority of the offering being cafe/pub food, which complements the surroundings nicely.I had the snack basket which consists of cocktail sausages, ribs, wings, chicken nuggets & chips. Very fairly priced for the amount of food I had.It does get quite busy, especially on weekends and after work hours, so patience is a virtue here!

What an awesome time. We went for a luncheon cruise to celebrate my birthday and it was perfect. The atmosphere, the food, the pace. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I went there for lunch on the fairy. The boat ride and atmosphere was good. The actual service is horrible. The lunch should and must be improved. Drinks were same temperature as the food. I would not do it again and would not recommend it to anyone. Upstairs I could smell cigarette smoke I suppose it was from the Captain. I just cant give it a zero star, it is what the experience is suppose to get.

The place itself is beautiful and clean.The service is not impressive, I paid for a table setting for a birthday celebration but there was only silver underplates and rusted sort of containers which I had no idea what they were on the table very disappointing and the birthday message was not what I wrote on the request sheet. My guests had to wait longer for their orders and even drinks. Tipped the waiter though because were good people.Might go again just for photos and serenity of the place only. I wouldnt advise anyone to waste R395 for that table, rather just go in as a sit restaurant customer. I must say beautiful place though

Nothing like a few beers next to the Vaal. They have a huge well tended lawn. With good service. Food is excellent. I enjoyed their curry and rice.

Stoneheaven on the Vaal is beautiful and served great breakfast, lunch and dinner. All kids uminities. Easter Monday the kids had egg hunt, face paint and book colouring and enjoy lunch on the garden served by great waiters with respect. Vaal is the place to be 🥂🌹👌

I love the atmosphere only problem was that the waiter that was serving us was rushing us to finish and we actually had a Herbalife meeting there.

Stonehaven on vaal is as beautiful and well crafted as its always been and has an atmosphere that truly speaks local. The restaurant is great and their food is delicious, well priced and diverse. However, their service was slow with a long waiting time before getting service initially after sitting down. Otherwise a good place for afternoon lunch. 4/5 stars to the good food and atmosphere.

Very good location. The restaurant staff were friendly and uncoordinated. Getting a bottle of sauce or cutlery proved impossible. One of those ‘what you make of it’ experiences I guess. Been there, done that, would not rush back.

This restaurant/venue on the Vaal river is over 50 years old. Unfortunately it shows its age and looks tired and worn. The menu is gigantic which for most restaurants is difficult to produce dishes of high quality. The food is OK but perhaps they could shrink the menu and focus on just certain items, to produce a top notch plate. If they fixed all the broken items, cleaned the place up and gave the place a new paint job, it might return back to the Queen on the Vaal.

Ordered the 500 gram T-bone medium rare, git it well done, send it back and waited for it till everyone else finished their meal only to find it super rare with the center still almost frozen. Waitress was quite unprofessional about the issue and just laughed it off.

Service was really very poor.Ask for garlic snails as a starter which was never served but was on the bill.My wife ordered fish and calamari and she got fish and chips and the bill was fish and calamari.Ordered a coke and after 20 minutes nothing was served.Stood up and ask for the bill and received a bill with fish and calamari including the snails.At least my steak and chips was as ordered.Service was big time bad

I loved it. Went for the Wine Expo. Scenic as scenic gets. They have three boats which you can take a 30 minute cruise on. The alcohol was cheap. I got the chips , nuggets and a burger. My gosh That burger was definitely worth it. One issue I met a coloured at the bar who complained that White people were allowed to cut the queue in front of him. They need to fix that asap. Not in 2019 are things like that allowed to happen

Great place for family outing with access to the Vaal river waterfront and boat rides. Worth every moment spent there.

Went on the Easter Boat cruise. Staff could have been more involved with us.. didnt talk to us. Didnt let us know that we can dish up for the breakfast buffet. Otherwise was awesome on the dam... over all.. the vibe off the boat was chilled and Stonehaven restaurant has an awesome Soweto Cherry Beer on tap which deserves a 5/5.

I loved the scenery and how the restaurant is situated. Very kind waiters. I ordered a caramel milkshake, it was very nice until I got half way and it started tasting sour. I had to wait quite some time to get the bill and pay for the drinks.

Absolutely amazing facility. Great views. Great meals. Great service. The best place to take kids - ideal for parties or weddings. The drive is not so far from Johannesburg. I would recomend it to anyone. Go with a group of people you will enjoy the day there. Take boat rides do activities.
