The best restaurant food I have ever had. For the first time in my life, the food served exceeded my expectation. A lovely menu filled with options for children and those not fond of hot stuff. Complimentary authentic Indian chuckneys served with your meal leaves you wanting more. A flavour explosion. Delightful, friendly and fast service. Great value for money and not overpriced which is refreshing. Definitely our new pit stop. Wish this place was a franchise.

The food is prepared with passion. Charmaine probably makes the best curry in the whole of South Africa. You can either stop in for a meal or pick up a takeaway to enjoy at your destination.

A very special little stop that took us by surprise. The food is all authentic and home made, the burgers were large and very filling as well as delicious. The store is full of yummy treats and one of a kind artifacts 👌😊. The best vegetarian curries on this strip of road. Authentic home cooked meals. You can feel the love poured into the place. Loved the cabbage and peas curry and the potato and broad bean curry. The spinach and feta samosa was amazing. A definite pit stop

On the way to the South Coast, thought we would stop here at the Total Garage for a fresh brew.Brew in hand, glanced to the side and the little Maharaj’s Restaurant caught our eye. Was lunch time, lets try the take-away.Bantings friendly, no problem, skip the rice, the owner offered us an alternative as a taster with the normal lamb curry.Lamb curry with boiled cabbage. Needless to say, we enjoyed it and vowed to stop over on the way back and this time we would sit down and enjoy a meal.When stopped over, we were instantly recognised and asked if we enjoyed the cabbage and lamb combination as a Bantings alternative.We sat down, did not have long to wait and we were served our meal, mine hot and the wife likes hers mild. The flavours were spot on, mine, hot, temperature and flavour.Thoroughly enjoyed our meal.We will be back.If I could, would have rated it 4.9 for service, custom and flavour.

Good vegetarian options available as well. Samoosas, bunnies, burgers, home-made pies,chai tea...there is something for everyone with salad and pickle so fresh and delicious I bought bottles to take home! Soft home made rotis just seal the deal ❣️. Freshly prepared curries of the day are displayed behind the counter so you can choose your curry. We could not decide so took the option of take-away containers with seperate compartments filled with our choice of curries, pickles,salads and roti. The shop itself is stocked with bottles of various pickles, homemade masala mix, health products, farm fresh butter, milk and ghee. The owner and chef serves with such a happy smile, its hard not to buy everything! Tables available both inside and outside. You honestly dont want to miss it!

I dont often review but I just had to for this piece of Gold. Maharajs has become my new half way stop between Joburg and Durban and back. The service is impeccable as you are greeted with a smile at the door. The warm and friendly service is so refreshing. And the food ... the food, I have no words to describe how delicious the food is! Wow! Yum! They even have assorted home made jams and sauces and other sort after products. Lots of delicious snacks. I would definitely recommend this spot. You can fill up your tank and check your tyres at the service station. Theres also a neat little convenience store and really clean bathroom facilities. Really, really cool

Lovely little Indian restaurant/take away in the middle of nowhere.....the mutton curry with roti was very tasty. The store has lots of pickles, biscuits, samosas, other Indian snackies, butter & cheese on sale. Not the usual pitstop! And nice friendly staff.

In January 2021 we stopped again to have lunch on our way back to Jhb, this was after not being on that route for 18 months - and must say the food is excellent as always, best curry by far! My family started to have the bunny chow a few years ago at Maharajs restaurant - and we look forward to it every time we are on our way to KZN. The samoosas is great, very tasty. I can definitely recommend the restaurant for great food, great value, great service!

Definitely home food away from home! The owner greeted and assisted us and all staff were pleasant and warm. Food was delicious! Also picked up some chilli sauces, pickles and sweetmeats as well as incense. Great halfway stop from Durban to Johannesburg.

Authentic little curry place in the middle of nowhere.

Stopped in for gas and was pleasantly surprised to discover this place. Had the vegetarian curry platter, and it was amazing. Served on a thaly platter with several curry vegetables and a roti. Would highly recommend as a stop for lunch. The owner was very friendly and helpful in helping us choose what to eat.
