We stayed at the Swamp Donkey motel this weekend and it was absolutely wonderful, the entire venue is well kitted and clean and the team is exceptionally kind and accomodating. Cant wait to go back!!

Definitely not worth the price for what you get at the River cottage. At best for people who are completely wasted and pass out without realizing they are getting eaten alive by bed bugs. Please get new matresses - my friends and I were bitten to shreds! You can also invest in a shower curtain that actually goes to the bottom and wide enough to serve a purpose (they are relatively inexpensive). Please also give your poor dog some attention and a bath - he seems desperate for some company and love. Definitely due for some upgrades in my opinion @R3200 per night.

Great place for a weekend getaway

We enjoyed being able to get away from busy city life to be emersed by nature and our luxury tent had everything we needed. We were especially grateful to have air-conditioning and our own canoe we could take down to the river to cool off.

We recently stayed at the Luxury Tents at Buffalodrift for our 3 year anniversary and we absolutely loved it. The tent was clean, beds super comfy, little kitchenette well stocked with all the essentials and braai area was all set up for us and was great. But the best for me was going on the canoe up the river and having Wylie the farm dog stay with us. If you are looking to get away and enjoy some peace and quiet then this is the place to stay. So affordable, safe and tranquil. We will definitely be back :)

The River Cottage did not look like the pictures AT ALL, it is totally falsed advertised. The place wasnt properly clean and we had to spend two days with BED BUGS- disgusting. The kitchen appliances were broken and the staff wouldnt take any responsibility for how the place looked. They will never see us again!!!

We stayed in the river cottage. We were welcomed in and well looked after by Hannes. The accommodation was perfect, clean and exactly what was needed. Would definitely go back again. Thanks again for making our stay a pleasure.

While the location was lovely and the beds were comfortable, there was nothing luxury about the “luxury tents”. Aside from the owners dog getting into our tent in the middle of the night and attacking our dog while we were sleeping, the condition of the tent area was shocking and banged all night in the wind. There was no notification about no drinking water from taps. We had such a horrific nights sleep we have lady a day early. Martinee, the on site person, was lovely and apologetic. At best, it was a niceish tent but not worth the price.

Amazing place, the nature lovers will love it. There is too much to do. Clean air, clean place..... Just great!!!

I went on a school camp here, and let me just say that this camp was the worst two days of my life. The food was appalling(sweet spaghetti) Overall terrible.(Nice luxury tents)

Rented the River cottage for a bachelors. Perfect if you want a secluded place. Communication, check in & check out was also very easy and efficient.

Loved the activities we did here. Lots of fun!

I was there with my Chihauhau and according to the website it is pet friendly but on our second day there a wild unknown dog entered our tent and attacked my dog. Needles to say my dog was injured and for the next of the time this unknown dog kept terrorizing my dog. Also, it was explained that there will be a bachelor party but they have strict rules to turn the music off at 12:00 but for 2 nights the music could have been heard until 05:00 which made it very difficult to enjoy the peace. Hannes was the person to call in case of ANY emergencies but his phone was off the entire time with a voicemail stating he could not answer his cellphone because he is at work. Buffalo Drift is not seeing me again.

Absolutely one of the best places to visit if you are looking for a bachelors party location. Rough and tough makes for a good party location.

We were booked in at the Fort on Ruigtevlei farm for a bachelors weekend. We were booked in from 14:00 the friday afternoon. We arrived 16:15 and they were still cleaning the fort: and putting on new bedding. The sunday we checked out and 7 of our bachelor party friends were bitten to shreds: definitely bed bugs. Please clean the place and get new mattresses. Disappointing.

Super hot in January 2016. The ups were that water was delivered everyday. The downs were that you could not get hold of management. The toilets had not been serviced before we got there and no one came to sweep ourtents for the whole time we were there as they promised to sweep for us. Oh and at about sunset/sunrise the blood sucking flies came out and leave you with itches for days after.

We had a nice time and the dogs loved it too.

Perfect for a bachelors!

Great accomodation for large groups and quite well priced. The spit braai was very tasty but the portions per person were a little small. And the veg was simple boiled vegetables in a pot which wasnt impressive for what we paid for. Many people got gastro from drinking the water aswell. The obstacle course is falling apart and could use some attention. Other than that the venue is amazing and you will have a great time there. Plenty toilets and showers and a large fridge and kitchen with everything you need.
