It is a budget option as far as holiday hotels at sun city. It is close to the lake. There are wide open spaces and the lake makes it nice relaxing atmosphere. Pool is okay and service is fair. It is far from the entertainment area and it is a walk to get up to reception. The gift shop was nice had some stuff for not as expensive as expected.
Sun City is always a good idea for a quick break away.Cabanas Hotel is so spectacular with beautiful views of the mountains and surrounding water, accompanied by the interior and design of the lobby and the breathtaking rooms in every small detail added.Breakfast is a big highlight with beautiful melodys of the piano whilst having a big variety to choose from.Its so nice with everything around you from the vally of waves to all sort of entertainment and activities.My home away from home!!! 😁
Room was nice, breakfast was amazing but service was very slow.. Room was only available after 4.. It take forever to order drinks.
The sofa beds in the family rooms are filthy, had stains all over them, could use a better clean. Surely suncity can afford to put bottled water in these rooms considering the tap water isnt great for people who are not used to it.Wonderful breakfast though.Could do with better service from the people at the water sports section.

Good situated, clean and lots of entertainment. People at reception / information desk cant help you with information. Very nice breakfast and friendly staff. Didnt get any of our MVG benefits or they didnt know about it.
Rooms ate very clean and fresh. Staff are friendly and professional.The breakfast was the only downer for me, zero options for the people who do not eat pork or beef. For every pork or beef dish served there should be a chicken option. Pastries were stale. All I could eat was eggs and toast.
Problem was the distance walk from reception to room. Especially considering I had to take my own bags to the car. Food was ok. Bedding was a problem, I dont know if it was clean or not cause I had a rash. But it was an ok stay.

Stayed here for the August long weekend. Overall we enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t mind staying here again but I’d really appreciate management looking into my concerns belowPros:Check in took a while but staff were helpful.Breakfast staff were very efficient and good selection of foodRooms really looked very good after the upgradesThe hotel grounds were lovely and well maintainedCons:Bed lamps were directly under your face.Two single beds were put together to form a queen bed and these beds kept separating and was very uncomfortable for a couple. Why?Toilet flushing was broken and had to be pressed again to stop.The pool was ice cold as well as the valley of waves. Practically nobody could swim and this was extremely disappointing despite the warm weather.Most people were disappointed and it’s strange that no heating of the water was done for all the guests.The Cabanas pool side has club music playing very loud the entire day and you couldn’t really relax there.No disposable cups or water in the rooms as well as no sanitizers
Neat, good accommodation, close to all attractions, but all MVG discounts were not received as per MVG website. Reception dont know anything about MVG benefits! Great breakfast and friendly staff in the restaurant.
I spent a long weekend at The Cabanas with the family. I was very happy with my stay there from the time we arrived to the time we left. I was very impressed with all the staff members at the hotel, from the porters to the reception staff, and even the cleaners. Everyone was very friendly and warm; we got greeted my all the staff during our stay. The rooms were nice, and they had all the basics one needs for a comfortable weekend away from home. I quite liked the decor and design that the hotel has, its a fun and fresh vibe! The breakfast buffet was great. They had a nice variety of food items and drinks and the eating area was spacious. The entertainment facilities available were fantastic. Lots and lots to do in and around the Cabanas for all ages, especially for kids. The only negative experience I had was dealing with the pool bar. It was difficult to get hold of a waitron, and ordering food was a nightmare. That aside, I would definitely recommend staying at The Cabanas!

Check in took 1hour and 40 minutes: Check in is 14h00, stood in the que forever, at 15h00 we were told they are still busy cleaning our room. Then were given no room number or details so had to stand and wait and eventually had to stand in the long que again. At 15:30 we were given a room number, upon getting to the room the poor cleaning lady said she had just started. Stood in the que for a 4th time and were finally checked in at 15:40. The cabanas took 1hour and 40 minutes of our relaxation time. Totally unacceptable.
Sun City needs no introduction, but I can confirm that they are really geared for Covid-19. We stayed there for 2 nights, 16-18 May 2021 and we had a great time. Everything is clean, everyone is friendly & professional and there is so much to do for the whole family.
Overall it was very nice. Just a shame that other people smoking in the rooms. But they assisted us by moving us to a different room. I wish the room would just have a small window with burglar proofing to let fresh air come in during the night as it gets very stuffy.
Great hotel in the SunCity Resort complex. Breakfast has good variety and options. walking distance to all SunCity has to offer. A bit of a walk (10 minutes) to the waterpark though.
There staff were amazing, our check in was swift we had a potter assist us with luggage our room was clean throughout our stay. The wifi was excellent! The TV options were very satisfying. A shuttle was always available to take us everywhere! The food variety for breakfast was good and Covid 19 regulations were adhered to. We were so pleased!

Hairdryer did not work - we were told by reception to take it up with housekeeping. Safe did not work - we were told to take it up with security. Hot water was out and we were told to log a call until we demanded another room upon which an engineer suddenly appeared at our door. Everything is blame-shifted to another department. Was this room even inspected before-hand. My first and last visit.

The hotel generally is well maintained and beautiful. The breakfast buffet situation can be improved in light of the big crowds. The rooms are also quite small, it was ok for 2 people. House keeping also can be improved to thoroughly clean the rooms and replenish the coffee station.
The upgrades that were done to the Cabanas rooms are remarkable!!! Awesome and pretty fancy too. Great room service with friendly staff. The badger breakfast in the morning is fantastic!!! Enjoy lovely walks straight from your room on to the Gary Player Golf Course.

Its a beautiful accommodation setup. There are two pools, one adult one kids. A play area for the kids as well.You can order food and drinks while relaxing at the pools. The lake is also a short walk from there

Great accommodation to book for your family, child friendly and the staff is super friendly. Waiters are always ready to serve you even when you are the pool area. Drinks can be expensive.

Spent 5 week nights at the Cabanas. The renovations give the hotel a fresh, clean feel. Staff were organised and friendly. Breakfast was included and well presented. COVID standards applied. For the weekday sunscape price it was value for money. Highly recommend.
Very nice location and reasonable rooms and service. Very nice breakfast in the morning. Covid protocols applied. Only issue I have is with the water. It’s not a cabanas issue, it’s a sun city possible regional thing. Muddy tasting water from the taps.Have to boil it twice to get some of the taste out. Doesn’t look muddy, just a very bad muddy taste.No other issues , love going to Canabas. Free entry to the valley of the waves. Swimming pools, bar and water sports close by to cabanas.Family will enjoy.

It was clean and things where all in their places. I really liked the potter service, they where courteous and helpful. I was there for a conference so I didnt get to use most facilities but they looked well kept and the Covid measures in place seemed to work well. I had a great time.

The overall resort was great, however we requested a blanket change for the kiddies bed each of the 3 days we were there and the staff never got to it.

Stay away from this hotel unless you like to live in a night club.The beautiful grounds and surrounding nature are totally ruined by disco music blazing at full volume EVERY DAY, the ENTIRE DAY. The music only stops after 7 PM.We were a family with 2 kids and a 2 month old baby and it was a nightmare.At night there are also noisy and rowdy guests and the only way to try get any sleep is to keep all doors sealed shut with the aircon on (which wouldnt stop swinging left to right non stop and blowing right onto us which we had to switch off).Besides that:-Very long queues at breakfast-We were checked into a room with a broken door / lock that couldnt close (most likely from a forced entry). After an hour and a half nightmare, denials that there were any other rooms available for us, and the management trying to move us into 5 or 6 different cigarette smelling rooms, we eventually, after refusing to give up and dealing with the manager directly, were given a room with a functioning door that didnt smell of cigarette smoke. What should have taken 5 mins took 1.5 hours of our family holiday time with my wife sitting with 3 kids guarding the luggage in the original room.-Rooms tinyDont waste your precious time and hard earned money.

The Cabanas are open to receive guests. As the new normal is in full swing, I must congratulate the staff on their positive attitudes that is evident throughout the Cabanas hotel. The pool area is open and you may order drinks and food pool side. For breakfast, the layout is different from what we are used to but they have done well. The selection of food is still good and the staff are ready and willing to help. You can order the normal omelette,scrambled eggs,bacon etc as well as individually wrapped pastries,fruit etc. The coffee is self help at the coffee station. I would assume there same is done in the other hotels here. A fresh coat of paint on the walls is evident and there seems to have been a push to keeping the area near and tidy which is great.The valley of the waves also opens today for hotel guests from 9am.
Cabanas is fun and clean. Nice rooms and well serviced. Very good breakfast included. Nice location to chill at the dam or pool with your fav drink taking in the environment.

Professional stuff and great place for holidaying
We booked in for 4 nights. Wanted to leave within 24hrs of arriving. The family rooms are tiny with 2 tiny wardrobes and no other storage. The children had to sleep on a sofa couch which was rock hard. When canceled the rest of the stay. Rooms not suited for families even though youre in it much.
Save your money,your time and your health very dirty the sheets were not clean, the towels the floors its just really disappointing and im abashed the water in the shower dont work always cold in this cold weather at the pool the monkeys were stealing our food what a disaster

The place is beautiful, more signs are needed as we spent a lot of time looking for the value of waves.
