Unbelievable place. We went to have breakfast here and were blown away by the view and the food. Their scones are so fresh and hot out the oven. Their homemade jams really hit the spot and I had a full English breakfast which was just amazing. Everything feels so fresh and well made that youll definitely leave satisfied.

We are locals so weve been to Hillcrest quite often. Our last 2 visits were very disappointing. The first, after asking where our food is (30 min after ordering), we were informed our order somehow got lost. Our food arrived suspiciously quickly after enquiring but my plate was missing ingredients and my husbands food was cold. The manager tried to rectify the situation by giving us scones on the house but they arrived cold and stale. The second visit was today with family. We were warmly welcomed and seated. Our order was taken but with very little enthusiasm or friendliness from the waiter, completely enveloped by inputting the order into the tablet system. Our drinks arrived about 20 mins later without milk and missing an order. Our food arrived 2 min after our drinks (and before the milk!). The Quince crumble was quite evidently microwaved so it was soggy and my scones were again not fresh at all and too much baking powder was added. We will not be wasting our time and money at this establishment again unfortunately

Tee / coffee with scones - with a view over the Stellenbosch mountains and a fire to keep you warm on a very cold day - what more do you want? I have not been to Hillcrest in many years and today I realise what I missed. I also like their coffee. They are very famous for their backed cheese cake. You can Buy any type of berries frozen, jam, fresh bread, scones and many other gifts.

Amazing views, friendly and helpful waiters and quick service! We ordered the Pulled Chicken Gooseberry Burger and the Sliced Flank Marinated Sirloin. The burger had a creamy Avocado topping which was well complimented by the gooseberry chutney which was served separately in a mini jar - a very good combination of flavours. The pulled chicken on the burger was tasty on its own as well. We were pleasantly surprised by the presentation of the Sirloin - the steak was cooked perfectly as ordered. For drinks, we ordered coffee and tea, served in lovely stainless steel coffee/tea pots, which kept the drinks hot throughout the meal just as we like it. They have inside and outside seating available. I will recommend outside for the beautiful views. They also have a gift store where you can find all the jams and condiments, as well as a variety of gift packs.

Drove all the way from Melkbosstrand (45 minutes drive), looking for a great food experience. Beautiful setting outside on a gorgeous day in Cape Town, but felt extremely irritated and annoyed at the poor service. Waited almost 35 minutes for a cappuccino with my father-in-law (aged 81), ordered a kiddies macaroni which we waited for an hour to be made - eventually gave up when there was some excuse from the waiter. The Manager-on-duty did not know how to manage the situation (with the kitchen or waiters) other than to provide a credit on the drinks of the day. The oxtail and chicken pie were good. I don’t often (if ever) rate a restaurant, but I had to express my disappointment.

We have been the a few times. Last visit was on the 27th of Feb. Made the trip all the way to the farm and was really disappointed. Service was bad, feels like staff has a no care attitude. They serve a teaspoon of cream per scone, and the scone was dry. Scones was always really good, maybe it was just an off day for them.
