The highlight here will always be their coffee and baked goods, which are simply superb. At the moment, their menu is displayed on a black board, and contains some good options for meat lovers and vegetarians alike. It is also a great spot to meet with friends, as the restaurant has a great vibe and comfortable atmosphere.

Really enjoyed our brunch here. Great staff as well. Plenty of seating and chilled cafe vibe. Food was delicious, unpretentious and full of flavour regardless of what you ordered. Coffee was decent as well. A great stop over in town :)

One of my favourite spots to visit in the cape with amazing service and grear unique cakes. What a disappointment when I returned. Experience was completely 180 degrees of my prior visit. The staff are so unenthusiastic and look miserable. The attitude borders on rude. Covid protocol is okay. Coffee and cake was good but had no intention to sit through a longer experience then necessary so didnt order food and left. Hope it was an off day only.

Blue Crane is our favourite coffee in Stellenbosch. The setting is perfect in Dorp street with a view on the spectacular mountains.The service excellent. But the cherry on the cake is the fruit scone and also plain scones. Better than Lanzerac or Hillcrest berry farm. The coffee absolutely the best in town. We drove from Hermanus for this treat. Highly recommended.

On the north side of the street is the large cafe which serves breakfast and lunch. Food is delicious and service is excellent. Just across the street on the south side is their coffee bar The Blue Crane Roastery (see photos). Coffee is top notch and both the cafe and coffee bar deserve a 5 star rating. One of the best executed concepts in Stellenbosch.

I was very impressed with the manager on duty this weekend, who was very friendly, and made sure to check that I knew what specials I was missing out on.Really delicious food, and a good space. Sometime the service can be a little slow, but overall it is good.

It is with sadness that I have dropped my review for this place, as it has been my favourite coffee shop for a while. But the service has just become so annoying. Waitresses dont follow up, they confuse the orders, they take forever to deliver a drink. This has happened a few times and it really spoils the experience of such a homey aesthetic and unique bakery.

My absolute favourite little coffee gem. Every mouthful of coffee is a delight. Try the iced coffee (ice cubes, milk, honey and coffee), the cold brew (refined coffee heaven) or the hot coffee, cream and chocolate sinful spoil... There is a taste you will love! Daily newspapers available, usually quiet and the baristas are all laid back and nice people.

Manager/owner is rude. I added a review about slow WiFi and how if you want to work this might not be an ideal place for you but it’s sad that the owner took it the wrong way. Instead of taking it as an honest feedback. They replied to my review by judging me based on what I ordered(which was decent enough for two people who spent 3 hours there). I went their to get some work done while their and support a small cafe in this difficult times instead of going to other big chains.They suggested me to go back home and not work “rent free”. Had heard good things, but this is rude behavior. Had to use my own data the majority of time I was there. Ended up having bad time overall. If your order sum is not up to their “unwritten” limits, they won’t be happy with you.

With some of the best fresh coffee in town, you cant go wrong with this niche coffee shop. Their crisp pastries and cakes are the perfect pairing with a coffee while getting work done, in conversation or reading the newspapers.

One of my absolute favourite spots in Stellenbosch. Their cakes are devine, they always have really interesting flavours that work wonderfully. Their coffee is great too. Theyre open until 6 pm which is great when you need a late afternoon pick me up!

Good vibes. Excellent food, cakes and drinks. In Afrikaans this place is: besonders. I take my hat off to the owner and manager of this place who is a kind and caring human being who has been under tremendous strain from this pandemic, yet still managed to keep his ship afloat, pay all his staff, and still bake exquisite cakes for residents and visitors of stellies. I have never had a bad vibe here. I have taken all my visiting friends and family. It has such a lekker vibe, and excellent food and drinks that are always better, theres just something extra. Like when your mom made you a sandwich with love and it just tastes yummier than when you make your own sandwich. It is love. Everything in this coffee shop has been sprinkled and stirred together with love and care and you can sense it. The food is yummy. The coffee is really delicious. The cakes are the best cakes ever, I mean you need not look any further, this is the place to go for cakes! The red velvet and carrot was my absolute favourites. Go for the family vibes, and the food and drink. Support local. Be lekker.

The name it self had my attention long before I stepped inside for the best cappuccinos in town. I just love butterflies and I just loved this place. Very cozy. neat and clean - friendly staff - reasonable price. understandable to have a bit of a wait here - but its all worth the while!

Absolutely loved my visit here. The staff were friendly, the coffee was amazing (and reasonably priced) and the atmosphere was incredible. Adorable rustic setting, and unlike a few of the cafes in this area, this establishment had ample seating.

One of my favorite restaurants Ive ever been to. I was studying in Stellenbosch for one semester and came here at least once a week. Their salads, sandwiches, breakfast, and drinks are all amazing! My go to was the hummus and toast for a quick snack or the cake! Best cakes Ive ever had. I wish I could transport this restaurant back with me to America!

The restaurant was quiet, serene , plenty of parking around the side but what stood out for me was the presentation of the food , the quality of the food and the nice size portions. The staff are pleasant and professional. This place is a must to visit . I cant wait to go back . A real gem

The food is always made out of an unusual combination of ingredients that somehow seem to work together perfectly. Ive been to places where ingredients are combined just for show with only a side thought to the actual taste of the dish. This is certainly not the case here. The cakes, lunch specials and coffee I can especially recommend. Also, the hummus and toast sounds unassuming, but really is a small masterpiece with the hummus freshly made on the premises.

As a frequent customer the waiters always go out of their way to make you feel welcome and make sure that you have what you need. The owners should be proud of the business they have worked hard on. I recommend everyone giving this restaurant a try.

The Blue Crane is still one of my favourite restaurants in Stellenbosch, even after all these years. The coffee is fantastic, as is the out-of-the-box cake and the sandwiches. This is a great place to sit and work as well.

My only problem with Blue Crane is that its not closer to where I live. This is a real rarity: a varied, interesting menu that changes day to day and is always affordable. Its always an exciting moment to walk into Blue Crane and see whats on the specials board today. Their soups are excellent, their salads are always amazing (look out for the pork belly salad in particular - though the specials are rarely repeated), their croissants and cakes are spectacular (once again, there is a stunning variety of cakes that changes day to day) and they have great coffee. There is nowhere in the Western Cape that Id rather have lunch.

They serve one of the best flat whites I have had. They also have lovely cakes with very interesting combinations. There main dishes are salads and sandwiches which are both great. Very cosy little coffee shop that is very lively.

This is one of my favourite places to go in Stellenbosch. The food on offer somehow manages to be healthy and fresh while feeling totally decadent. I can honestly say that this is the only restaurant in the world where I have voluntarily ordered a salad (and devoured the whole thing with relish!). We love that you can pop in for a little savoury snack, designing your own mini platter with delicious options like chorizo, olives, warm roasted nuts, artisan breads, and the best hummus in town. But I must warn you: if you start eating their cakes you may never eat cake anywhere else again. I know I certainly dont. Try the classic carrot cake if just cant choose from their selection, or ask one of the friendly staff to recommend one. And the cinnamon pastries? Life changing.

Popped in for a cappuccino this morning for a meeting. Need i say more. Look at the stars. They serve great food as well with a very nice buzz of tourists and locals enjoying themselves.

This place roasts and serves its own coffee. Definitely worth a visit and even though it is supplied, this coffee does not need sugar. The open sandwiches are very tasty too.

They always have a nice and fresh baked goods selection (pecannut, banana and chocolate muffin!) and sandwiches with interesting flavours, good veggie options too. Sells beer and wine.

Came here for breakfast and coffee one morning. Service was nice and swift, but sadly the coffee was a let down. For being a roastery, the baristas didnt seem trained enough to prepare a good flat white.
