Cajun pasta, honey chicken wrap and sesame chicken salad were delicious. Was a little shocked to see it cost R25 to add some steamed butternut (not flavoured/spiced or roasted) to the salad, though. 👎🏼 Nevertheless, Laura was an excellent waitress, thank you so much!

If you havent already been to Java then this is definitely something that you need to do. Their burgers, pizzas or pastas are great! In fact all their meals are delightful! Not to mention their desert menu. Youre in for a treat!

A vibrant local cafee with seating inside and outside (undercover side walk). Food is prepared with care and very reasonably priced. Service is fast and professional.

We sadly had to leave after I was told that the BURGER I ordered on TUESDAY did NOT qualify for their 50% discount.(Luckily the area has many other lovely restaurants and we were pleasantly surprised by finding a hidden gem).As for Java, I am not a fan of wasting my time on fake ads and dont think Ill return here.

Food was fantastic, service good. We tried to book dinner for my daughters 21st as this was her restaurant of choice and we were travelling from 500km away to be there with her - to be told that the restaurant does not accept bookings (unless for large groups). On arrival we were given a really iffy table, although several preferable small tables were available. When I asked to be moved to a small table out of the busy walkway, I was told that someone had booked that table! This really annoyed me as I was told bookings were not accepted. To their credit, after also being asked by others, they did give us this table and from there on we enjoyed a lovely meal in a vibey ambiance.

Great place with great food. Love eating at Java. Just a pity that their bathrooms are extremely dirty, please make a point to improve that. Would be so much better to be able to use clean bathrooms.

The cake and food was great but the atmosphere didn’t seem very welcoming. Our waiter was soo grumpy it made us uncomfortable to even order extra food. For the food I’ll return what we had was nice, but the atmosphere was too hostile for me.

It was great! Went there for breakfast with friends. The meals are well priced - not expensive at all and the waitress was extremely friendly. She also explained that they have daily specials (except on fridays). Will definitely go there again.

Revisit for take aways.Very disappointed with the take aways. Burger was cold as were the chips. My wife ordered the Thai green chicken curry, served with sambals and pomperdoms, as per menu for R109. No pomperdoms or sambals were received, but still charged R109. Very disappointing meal and wont be getting take aways here again.Awesome setting in Stellenbosch with a great outside shaded area. Food is great while quantity and quality is not compromised by the price. Great wine and food selection with friendly helpful staff. Will definitely return soon.

Java is probably one of my favourite restaurants in Stellenbosch. The restaurant is affordable, the food is always delicious and the service is impeccable. The steak special is currently my favourite, who wouldn’t want steak, fries and a glass of wine for R89?The desserts are also so delectable. I’ve tried the cheese cakes, the lemon meringue, Belgian waffles and the sweet treat to share and would 10/10 recommend.

Wow! Absolutely amazing food, great service. Would give you more stars if I could. I had the steak and my partner the chicken schnitzel. We will definitely be back. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Ah Java Bistro. The everlasting constant of stellenbosch. While other restaurants tend to come and go, Java has survived and thrived over the years. You will not find the most alluring of food here, no you wont find a chef willing to challenge the status-quo. What you will find however is one of the gems of stellenbosch. You will find the headquarters of delicious,wholesomeness and good times. Java has been a friend to us for many years delivering time and again ons great service and consistency.

Nice atmosphere. Waiter friendly. Portion size vs price not very fair for thr food we had. I had oxtail and mutton pot. Very few and Tiny pieces of oxtail. Mutton was just big piece of bone and meat around it was chewy. Sauce was overly sweet. My husband had Thai green curry which was tasteless and the poppadom was not crunchy but bent like runner. Very disappointing. Pizza we had for starter was burnt on top on some places.

This vibrant lively restaurant serves delicious wood oven pizza and monstrous mouthwatering burgers. One of the best cheese boards and chocolate cheesecake Ive had in a while.

First time coming to this place and I can say I HIGHLY recommend it!! We had the garlic flat bread for starters and it was soo fresh and tasty, for mains I had the Prawn dish which came with rice and fries, which tasted sooo yummy and fresh, my friend had a steak and salad which he absolutely loved too.The chocolate cake was rich(just the way I like it) and it was soft and fresh too. The presentation of all the meals was also great. I must say I was really impressed and satisfied with our meals and the service we received.Next time I’m in Stellenbosch I’ll definitely re visit again.

What a breath of fresh air in terms of dining. The service is on point, the vibe is energetic and the dining experience of pure bliss. The spaces between patrons are a bit tiny but safe. It gives you a feeling of being at a food market with everything going on.

We waited over an hour for our food today yet it was only french toast. People who were seated long after us got their food before we did. Quite disappointed because no one updated us on how long its still going to take, we had to stand up and ask ourselves. When the food finally arrived, I had to make my own space on the table and hand stuff to a waiter passing by because we ordered drinks about 3 times but the glasses and cups were never removed. The food was okay, but I was so upset so I could barely enjoy it.

Java Cafe is BUSY. If you enjoy the din of many a fellow diner, this place is for you. The menu is extensive with plenty of recurring specials line half price wraps, burgers and more.

Very very full for Sunday lunch. That should say something. We 5 were there only for coffee and it was uncomfortable for us as there was a crowd waiting to have more, but credit to the staff, they served us with barely any discomfort or rush to have us leave. Most pleasant

The food is good and most of the staff are great. Ive had many good experiences here but sometimes it feels like they dont value the individual customer. My experience has varied depending on the time of day that I enter, which of the waiters is assigned to me and the number of people I bring with me.

The place is right in the middle of the church street and I love the ambience and the people working in this Bistro. I had Cajun spice spaghetti with cheese and my friend had lamb. The quality of food was good and I would love to go back and have food here again.

We had a lovely breakfast here. The food was plentiful and beautifully plated. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the staff is very friendly. If you sit outside, it can be a bit cramped and the cappuccino was a bit small; granted it was one go the best cappuccinos Ive had, so Ill overlook that. If you want to book, then you have to be more than 6 people and you have to sit inside. They serve alcohol and their wine list looks impressive. Details on gratuity is in the menu.

This is me and my wifes favourite restaurant in Stellies. If we cannot decide where to go, we always find ourselves at Java again. The easy going restaurant that always has a vibe whether it is 8 in the morning or 18 at night makes it inviting both to high heels and slip slops alike. The service is always excellent and the menu is is huge.

We had some lovely wraps - it was part of a discount special. Worth it!! Not to mention the sweet potato fries - really yum and would return for them alone! The service was good and fast enough even though the restaurant was rather busy. The vibe outside was great with all of the other customers, but we could still hear each other easily. To keep it short. The food and affordability is the main reason I rated so high. The coffee was a disappointment as their barista failed to make a cortado after two tries. Again, the food was really good. Their burger patties taste self made, thick, juicy and medium to rare as it should be. We were a group of about 10 people and everyone really enjoyed what they had to eat. Major props to the kitchen staff.

Just came past here yesterday strolling through the city center and it looked very busy (always a good sign). Got seated very quickly and the staff were really friendly. Had some lovely halloumi skewers as starter and Boboti with sweet potato fries and grilled vegetables as a main. Delicious!
