Gorgeous view however the food is ridiculously overpriced for the portion size you receive. We were incredibly disappointed. Literally got 4 chicken strips in the chicken basket. The calamari basket was R132 and received 7 calamari strips.

Food was yummy. View was gorgeous. Service was slow.

Perfect location on Southbroom main beach. Modest setting with relaxed atmosphere. Calamari baskets are good, but take forever. Margarita was a complete miss. If youre hungry or in a hurry, rather order from their takeaway window outside.

Food overall good in this well situated Restaurant. Try the calamari is was crispy and tender and the tartar sauce was made in the kitchen. It boasts amazing views of the sea and Lagoon and one can come in right off the beach and grab a cold beer on tap. They have a nice wine selection and waitrons are friendly. Can get rather busy in season so booking is a must.

Me and my brother went to Riptide Restaurant for a beer and a snack. First time here. Service is good. Staff friendly. Food took a bit long to be served. Otherwise a very nice setting with a view on the ocean, beach and river. Will be back one day.

Lovely view of ocean and lagoon. Quality of food is average. Presentation is poor. Price is fairly high. On average a 300 percent mark up. A few touches in presentation of food and friendliness could improve this restaurant enormously.

Terrible experience.We wanted to go for breakfast. They only opened at 11:00. Werent ready to serve food. Told us it will take them 15min to get ready.We waited an hour for food. Manager had a bad attitude.Staff were washing up in the bathroom.All over bad experience.

If you want to pay premium for the worst food in the area, this place is for you. I’m out. Everything is frozen, even the chips and tastes dry as if the food has been frozen for years. This place would make a great episode on Gordon Ramsey’s kitchen nightmares.Waiters are amazing and so are the wines

The problem with busy beachfront venues is that they get so busy that the first thing they loose is good service, I dont even want to imagine how long it will take to order food, if a simple beer takes 30min to deliver.

We had a terrible experience! High price for pathetic food. I contracted food poisoning from their chicken curry! Was my last day and had to drive back home feeling very sick for two days! None of the waiters or personnel greeted us. They appeared to be very racist.. Worst meal and atmosphere ever! The sea view was nice.I will not recommend this restaurant, you will wait 20 minutes before your 1st drink arrives. Another hour for dry, frosen food to be heated.They conceal the food with too much tomato and sauce, you might not pick up the meat is off.. Rotten.. I agree with the previous reviewer. A very good case study for Gordon Ramseys nightmare restaurants!!!

The seafood basket was a disappointment The piece of fish was a pangasius, according to the waitress. A fresh water fish native to Asia (not seafood). It was the most horrible piece of fish Ive ever tasted in my life. For this reason I wont go back.

I suppose it doesnt matter if you piss off clients when you are the only restaurant on the beach, because there will always be more new people who show up.There is a serious need for customer journey mapping and proper staff training at Riptide. I would comment on the poor/mediocre/delicious food, but we didnt get that far. Remember the word vapid for your visit. It might come in handy.

What a nice place to be. A nice cosy relaxing restaurant where you can have a relaxing brunch or afternoon meal. A lovely holiday atmosphere with good company and a nice long walk on the beach. Very popular for swimmers and surfers in the area. The waiters are very friendly. The food is great. Sitting looking over the sea with beautiful view. A lovely relaxing visit. A place that must be visited when in the area. Enjoy

Really weird place. Dirty glasses left on empty tables even though the place was extremely empty. Prices of the food was extremely crazy as well for bad quality. The only good thing about this place are the friendly waitresses.Ordered a cappuccino and the was a piece of plastic in it. Also any burgers/sandwiches/bread served was really very dry.Terrible restaurant.

Excellent View and close to the swimming area, the service and food was good. We had bunny chows which was very tasteful fresh and spicy. This is an excellent place to come to when there is a strong westerly wind as it is sheltered and makes it still nice to have a view over the ocean in these conditions without been unpleasant

Riptide? More like Ripoff - this has officially been THE WORST restaurant I’ve ever been to. If I could give this restaurant a zero rating I would.The food is below average - it was some of the worst fish I’ve had. The seafood basket cost us a whopping R190 for 4 calamari rings, 4 prawns and 1 small pieces of overcooked fish. Service was super slow. After complaining to the owner, he did absolutely NOTHING and had a list of lame excuses I suspect he gives to everyone.If you’re in the area, give this one a skip.

The service was fine apart from 2 meals being incorrectly served beef instead of chicken, and being charged for 5 coldrinks when only 3 were ordered, the food that was correctly served was good

One of the few restaurants along the coast thats on the beach. You can have a meal and watch the children play in the waves or on the beach.Food is decent enough. Anything from toasted sandwiches and chips to Seafood.Theres a fully stocked pub/bar and they are open through the year.Off peak season Mondays are closed.Bennie, the owner is great to talk to and is personally involved with the guests.Decor is beach hut style and quite rustic.

Unfortunate experience. Ive been going here for years but have been away for 3 years, my return here was less than adequate. Food is expensive, portions are small, quality is unacceptable for the price. Two meals at the table were not what was ordered. Service was incredibly slow too. A shame. But the view is epic.

As a couple we have traveled quite a lot and from our experiences we dont necessary rate places negatively. Riptide was truly disappointing, all meat (fish, chicken, beef) is cooked on a small grill so the juices mix. I had a meadium rare rump and it tasted like fish, the same with my wifes chicken. The prices are also marked up, which is okay, if you get the quality. Actually for the location its 5 stars but it has so much more potential, truly rundown, it is evident that the staff and owners only care about quantity. This definitely does not coincide with the quality of Southbroom. This is prime location and Riptide should be a cashcow bit owners need to reinvest. Definitely do not recommend, youll be disappointed.

Food was terrible, prices are too high for low quality food, if you are going to charge over a R100 for a burger and chips, you would expect it to be a in house made patty with handcut chips, but instead its the crappiest patty with frozen chips. Fire the chef! And get this restuarant back to making good food.

Bad service, expensive, food not up to standard and issues with cleanliness. Found old garlic and a piece of lettuce underneath my chips when my meal never even included any of those items.

Service was slow and the price is insane for what you get. Not some where I would go again or recommend.

Very poor service! The burger is a dry bun with a small patty one piece of bacon and a slice of cucumber and one slice of tomato! The restaurant wasnt busy at all! We were 4 and the food arrived 90 minutes after ordering and everyone got their food after one was already finished with their meal.
