I had an unpleasant experience visiting a family member in this hospital. It was a while ago but so uncomfortable and hostile that I made a decision that I will avoid this place as far as possible. Their are staff there that could learn a lot from other hospitals that know how to show respect and how to treat visitors and patients. I do not recommend.

This is a small hospital that does have certain specialities that it focuses on (general surgery, orthopaedics and urology and renal) however they can treat a wide variety of conditions thanks to specialist physicians. The emergency center is well staffed by compassionate nurses and doctors. It is able to treat patients in a critical condition (I have been one). Unfortunately those that are complaining about the EC do not understand the triage system. The ICU and high care units are both well staffed with 1:1 and 1:2 nursing respectively. They are able to handle neurological patients, post-op patients, those with infectious diseases and those requiring a high level of ventilation. The doctors that run these units have received highly specialised training. The wards are staffed by dedicated and empathetic nurses which are hard to find these days. They have a good knowledge of medicine yet at the same time are able to look after their patients on an emotional level as well. It is the first hospital I’ve been to where doctors don’t treat nurses like dirt (and I have been to a LOT of hospitals!) nurses and doctors work well as a team, ensuring patients receive the absolute best care possible.

No one at the hut to let us out / open the gate, had to wait for someone to come and open up, switch lights on etc. Failed state stuff. If they cant get the parking right, I wonder what the rest of the hospital is like? Personally, I would give this place a miss, plenty other hospitals to choose from and go to.

Dear fellow South AfricanI am not sure what world do we live in where patients are treated like this.I agree, doctors and nurses are doing their best to help people during this difficult time we all face. But what I experienced was not acceptable! After all the below, we had emailed the hospital and they never got back to us!My father was admitted at the Morningside Mediclinic in Johannesburg on the 22nd of June to 2nd August. We havenumber of issues.1) He had taken to the hospital in emergency and was unattended for 2 days! He was only attended after 2 days and taken to the ICU only only when we called the hospital and out forward our grievance on this only to find out that he had pneumonia and was on ventilation. If he had been taken earlier we wouldnt have had such an issue!2) while he was in the ICU the nurses mistreated him. He wanted to urinate and the bottle had urine in it, the urine fell on him by mistake and the nurse says good you deserve it!This is unacceptable!!!3) After that he was shifted to the General ward. The food served was placed far from him, his hand hurts and couldnt reach out. He did not eat for a few days and no one attended him.4) on the day that he was discharged from the hospital, the nurses tell him your family doesnt need you and so they havent come to pick you again unacceptable!!!5) The nurses did not carry him properly and he fell on the floor. They refuse to pick him up! Instead they say you are just doing dramas, we know you can walk and you need to stand up once again unacceptable!!!All these points need to be considered and an explanation is needed for this unprofessional and unethical behaviour on the hospitals side. The services provided were not free and we have paid good money and still treated like this? We demand an explanation!

Your staff Member in Morningside tent is so unkind (selectively so I guess) and uninterested in helping people. Yes masks discourages conversation. But to greet and explain what she’s about to do to the client lis basic courtesy. She’s rude. Took 10 minutes of my time doing her admin, no ‘excuse me’ I was so insignificant and my time not important for her to explain herself. This is after she had taken looooong time serving people before me because she was chatting. Infact those 2 ( couple) jumped the queue and I was left to figure out why were they served before me yet they found me sitting there. She did not bother. Behind me there were 4 more people who asked for forms to fill in the meanwhile. Nope, she didn’t give them. Not even bothered to explain why. Please help her with some training at being customer centric. The swab is a bit uncomfortable. But she also doesn’t care in how she does it. She pokes me with that bud and kinda giggled when I showed discomfort. She asked me if it’s my first time, and I said yes. And that was it. If I ever need to do it again I wouldn’t consider going to your site. I went there today 9/6/2020. Just before 1 o’clock. Thanks

On behalf of Tim Goodman. I was admitted to your hospital in the 13 July 2020 for a double bypass. The lady at receiption was an absolute honey, she SAA friendly, efficient and caring. I was admitted to the orthopedic ward to start off with and the staff there were also friendly, caring and efficient. I was moved to the Acutecare unit on the Tuesday after the operation. The love, care, compassion and treatment I received there was it of this world. Especially by Ben, sister Dolly, sister Beatrice, and the others sadly whos names I cannot remember. The stay of my time there was made difficult due to not being able to see ones loved ones, but they were also put at ease when phoning by these wonderful staff. I was moved back to otopedics on the Sunday and once again the care etc by the staff there I could not fault. These staff are working under inhumane extreme conditions during covid 19 and yet they still have a smile on their faces, treated me with great care and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart. (literally 😁). From the specialists Dr Rampini, Dr Dello, the nursing staff, the physiotherapist Miss Govender to even the cleaning and security staff I thank you morningside medic clinic for making what could of been a unpleasant experience a positive experience. Our experience as different, we where at the Sandton emergency rooms over the weekend at 3am. The doctor that helped us was nice however the female doctor that took over from the other doctors shift was absolutely rude. We were there up until 8am, when I asked to see the doctor to enquire what was wrong with my partner she stormed into the partitioned room telling me that she does not have a crystal ball, they made my partner do a blood test to which they could tell us nothing from it which was close to R2000 and once again she repeated herself stating she does not have a crystal ball without anyone probing her. Its unbelievable that someone who is equally as educated as I am would undermine another forgetting their vows they made upon completion of their studies. What was more sad that this female doctor did not have any people skills nor did she take into consideration that we were there since 3am up until 8am. She was also rude to the nurse in front of us (the paying client) which was highly unprofessional. I would never want her to help us nor another again. In terms of service delivery this is not the scope of why private hospitals were established.

I was rushed in and immediately attended to and heart attach was ruled out. The services spiralled downward after I got admitted. All the beds was full so I was placed in the post natal ward. No issues with that. But I asked for water four times since around 2pm and I only got some from the catering staff at 8pm. Nobody could give me a clear answer as to what is happening with me. The dr never came to see me again, I only saw her in passing while being pushed into theater.I got discharged the next day with photos of my gscope that has some other persons name on it, different procedure and different time stamp. I received no proper explanation as to what was causing my pains. So yes, I will now need to incur more expences to determine whats actually wrong with me.

The worst service possible from a medical institution, add to this the trauma and stress their incompetence causes to an already distressed patient. Approach them for a scratch or a band aid issue but anything more serious and you will be shuffled and hasseled and queued while they look for their precious only visible to them “on call doctors”!!I am 33 weeks pregnant and approached the emergency ward after a repeat episode of extreme breathlessness and a dizzy spell. We were advised to go to Labour ward where a midwife helped with taking my baby vitals n my basic vitals. This started at around 7:30 pm and they were trying to reach the ONLY ON CALL doctor Mr. Bvuma up until 9:30 but his phone was conveniently off. Looks like he had decided that nothing was too urgent for him on this particular night. We also made the nurses well aware that my latest blood reports indicated that my iron levels were very low and our GP had diagnosed me as anemic. The midwives (now two of them n still NO DOCTOR) couldn’t help us any further and kept trying to reach this doctor!!Finally we were shuffled to casualty where we were made to wait another 45 min, no relief whatsoever was provided for my condition, so I sat there pregnant, distressed and breathless watching another patient clip his nails in the waiting room and none of the nurses had a hygiene issue with someone spilling their dirty nails all over the hospital floor. I was too breathless to protest and my husband was silenced when he asked for attention towards my condition. They did take me into casualty at around 10 pm only to start the basic vital tests all over again and fill the SAME FORM that Labour ward nurses had us fill. When we objected and asked for treatment instead the nurse was rude and said she will get information on my case and the forms from the Labour ward!!!! All this while they had not communicated and expected a patient in distress to jump through the hoops again!!!!We finally left to seek help elsewhere, my husband provided feedback to the night manager on the absolute circus that the hospital was running and he was told that they did finally get hold of Doctor Bvuma and he didn’t think it was a case for an obstetrician, so he wasn’t going to come inn to help.Thankyou for the despicable run around and what felt like border line bullying, I wonder how you sleep at night knowing what you know and doing what you do!!!!
