This place has always served delicious food with consistency. We have never had a bad dish here. Tried the crab curry for the first time which was delicious. Although the crab meat was not very dense, but the flavor was there. Phad Thai was superb as usual. Highly recommend this place for one of the best Thai restaurants in Johannesburg in my opinion.

Old school and still amazing.

I can still taste those delicate, delicious and perfectly prepared crumbed rib starters.The ambience is authentically Thai, from the decor, to the lighting, and overall feel, even the staff are at your service and on point.For a home converted into a restaurant it has a very warm, comfortable, cozy feel to it- theres even a fire place to tie up the entire experience, so visiting in winter is no issue at all.I tried the Tom Yum Soup 2ce, Thai Green Curry, Red Curry, coconut rice and a few other dishes, they were perfectly prepared, no issues on my side.The only difference between their food and the real thing in Thailand is the location difference :)The owners are also very warm, welcoming and super humble people and that kind of passion transfers onto their staff, food and commitment.Parking is plentiful, though it looks small and very unassuming, dont underestimate this little gem palace of Thai cuisine.

I first discovered Thai curry in 2012 and it was exquisite. Since I left that job a little while later in 2013, Ive been searching for a green chicken curry (Gaeng Keow Wan Chicken) that stacked up to that standard and today my search has ended. Nothing better for a Friday lunch than what 2 Thai 4 has delivered.

The best Thai food in Gauteng indeed. The service was excellent and both the chef, Oag and waiter, Action are commended. Their willingness to accommodate our dietary requirements is admirable. We enjoyed the following dishes: spring roll prawns; chicken satay; chicken spring rolls with vegetables [to much veggies though]; and chicken green curry. All the dishes apart from the chicken spring roll which could do with a bit more chicken was prepared to perfection. Thank You - we will certainly be visiting this establishment soon.

Food came in poor packaging, and did not meet up to description presentation. Could be more generous with the sauce. Forgot about my request for the utensils. Not a great experience at all

The service and ambience were really the stars of the show. The food was good though a little artificial tasting, especially with the additive of frozen carrots. Not too cheap either, though you cannot expect cheap anywhere in the vicinity of Sandton. We would go back, if only for the good service, accessibility and quiet.

Ahhh where to start exactly. I have been looking for exclusive Thai cuisine and this one just could not be better.The lovely dining place with with great hospitality and serene sitting lounge.Did not wait too long for the food, and oh boy o boy the taste of the food was divine just like your sitting in Phuket having your delicious crab curry.From hot soups to their tenderly made delicious crunchy spring rolls were perfectly made not oily at all. To the Johannesburg people if you have not tried their food, your simply missing it because its ..........Simply finger licking good.Well done, keep it up :D

Our starters where very, very poor. We ordered the classics, to test the waters so to speak, we have been disappointed by too many Thai restaurants in SA too many times. We ordered Tom Yum soup and Green papaya salad, green papaya was not available so we went for fish cakes (a favourite). Both dishes where honestly terrible (my wife did pick our the prawns from the Tom Yum) we paid for everything even though we sent most of it back and only left a very modest tip, which I regret because the service was great, that is the only star I can give

All round, in my opinion the best restaurant in Johannesburg. Lynn and the team provide excellent service. Food is really amazing. The decor and atmosphere is authentic and relaxed. Value for money is top notch. They dont skimp on quality ingredients- the cashew chicken is the best in town, with lots of cashews of good quality- not just the token few most restaurants use.Its one of the longest running thai restaurants in Johannesburg, and for good reason. Proper thai food - same as you will get in Thailand- not altered for western tastes. Milkshakes are made with coconut milk, etc. A special place. Good service and wine list is reasonable and compliments the menu.

Over many years whenever Im in Johannesburg I always have a meal at 2 Thai 4 Restaurant. The food is always very good and the service is excellent. Lynne, Brian and all their staff always make me feel so welcome. Definitely one of my favourite Restaurants.

Ive seen 2 Thai 4 on the restaurant week options because it lacked reviews, I never booked. The following is a sad tale. When a restaurant stop doing maintenance then you should know they are struggling to survive. Peeling plaster old tables in a high end area is a dead give away. Its far from its glittering heydays.I order the fishcakes as starters but was told they are out of stock so I settled om the chicken satay. The peanut sauce note worthy but the chicken was dry. There was no complimentary tones in the dish. My mains was beef with oyster sauce. Beef was tough and I wonder if the was any oyster sauce Im the brown sauce they serviced. The veggies was nice and crisp and the fried rice. How any one can score this restaurant above 4 is beyond me. Looking at the amount 5 over 5 years, the story is telling and very sad.When I left, I felt nauseous. Be warned

Consistently fantastic food and great service. Not cheap, but not overpriced either and portion sizes are good.The crispy chicken and the red duck curry are amazing, but there is something to suit just about everyone and you can choose the level of heat in your curries.

Had a great Pad Thai lunch. Very reasonable price and a great big portion. It was delicious and the food came out nice and quickly. Will definitely be back.

Still one of my most loved places in joburg! Absolutely delicious food.

Staff are pleasant. Food was not great at all. The duck looked like beef. They need a boost at flavours. Some Asian food take away meals are more appetizing than the expensive meal we had last night. The fried ice cream was not crispy and arrived looking quite unappealing. The waitron was in a hurry to leave and removed my dessert before I was done. Very disappointing.
