Still love this place! Its been six years since my last visit and they still have the great thick pancake style meals. They added a brownie pancake (which is fairly new) and its great. Would highly recommend it. Pancake texture and mouth feel is perfect 👌🥞Highly recommended to stop here for a meal

Definitely worth it. Amazing place. Very friendly staff. Waffles are amazing. Burgers and milkshake. Tasted absolutely divine. Some of the best food Ive had. By far the best peanut butter milkshake Ive had. Waffles are thick and airy. So its not heavy. Light with enough topping. I got the honey and ice cream waffle. Reasonable prices with the mountains as a view. This place gets a solid 5 stars from me. Keep it up guys and anyone traveling in this area or close by. Even if its 50kms. Make the drive. Its worth it

Really lovely little place with excellent service. The waiter and the owners are very attentive.We had the fish and chips which is a new addition to the menu. It was good value for money and served with a smile. There is also really great free WiFi.The pancakes are a must. The chocolate brownie one especially. Whenever we are in this part of South Africa, Petena Pancakes is a must visit.Really satisfied 😊👍🏽

Best pancakes and milkshake. You can sit inside or outside. There are enough tables for a big group. You also have a view of the valley

Best pancakes in town. It beats other places by far. The portions are big, so one pancake might even be to much for one person. We went during level 2 lockdown and they followed strict Covid protocols. They do take aways during this period of level 4 lockdown.

Gluten free available. Was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed my pancake while my friend who is gluten free could join in. Great service as well.

The burgers were good. The pancake batter tasted more like waffle batter, they were too fluffy. Unfortunately the level of service was disappointing. No one cleared our table. The waiter came around twice to ask if were okay and still no one cleared it. We eventually had to ask someone and it seemed like it was effort and the waiter did not apologise. At one point we sat for 45min where it felt like we were forgotten.Other than this the food was good. I really enjoyed the burger and chips and they had no problem swopping things our for me.

Brilliant over stop.

We are extremely disappointed in the service we received today at Petena Pancakes. Coming all the way from Northwest and Gauteng we were looking forward to the pancakes.1. As we arrived there was nobody to welcome us. We didnt know whether we have to screen ourselves or what to do. We stood waiting outside the door for 10 minutes. Only when we stepped through the door a young man came to us and screened us.2. He asked us where we would like to sit and just pointed us to a table, not even accompanying us to the table.3. 2 menus were placed infront of us. He didnt even ask us if we would like something to drink. He disappeared and we sat there for 10 minutes. We then decided to leave as we did not feel welcome at all.4. Your prices are ridiculous ......not even Harries Pancakes are this experience.Is this how you treat all customers and tourists?

This is one of the best pancake spots I have visited, portions are reasonable and well worth it.

Great food, MASSIVE portions - just one cinnamon pancake is a lot. Friendly waiter, great service, reasonable prices, pleasant view even though its on the main road. Hint to the manager - some customers dont want to talk to the restaurant staff a lot.

Cannot recommend. The savoury pancake tasted decidedly sweet, which the manager attempted to explain away by saying it was the cheese and tomato filling (???). Listen to your customers when they complain. Also, the garnish was a handful of white lettuce with one cherry tomato. Disappointed. I regret eating here.

Nice people working there, the things I ordered tasted good. All the South African ingredients I have tasted so far are in general of worse quality than north european ones, so probably shouldnt expect as good taste as in the better european countries.

The food was okay . The pancakes did not really taste like a pancake at all more like an omelet even the sweet ones . It felt like it was rushed off and not prepared timely as the filling was not even a lot and had very little flavouring from the milkshakes to the pancakes . Really disappointed did not meet my expectations to the price what you pay . Not really good value for money as hardly no filling and taste not that great compared to other pancake restaurants. But the staff are really friendly .

The food was good, but it took so long

This used to be a lovely place but seems to have gone to the dogs. To the lady in the red shirt serving from the kitchen, screaming why at me when I was at your counter asking for syrup for my dry pancake, no way to treat customers. I went back to my table, picked up my pancake and returned it to you. The place has no idea how to treat customers, no way Id eat their food.

Best pancakes in the country! Petena’s is under new ownership and the new owner is bringing it back to what it used to be! Definitely worth a try! Try the Biltong and cheese pancake and a caramel for dessert.

Room for improvement. My banana pancake would be better with salted caramel sauce and pecans instead of peanuts, it was tasteless. Pancake itself was delicious.
