The Palace was a lovely hotel to visit, the whole area looks like jurassic parkπ. The breakfast was amazing and we included it in our costing. We were a big group so the hotel was ready for our arrival. The reason by I gave a 4/5 was the room cleanliness quality, some rooms were clean and others were dirty. Looks like the cleaning was rushed in some of them or they had not been used in a long time. What saved the day is that house keeping was quick to clean the dirty rooms.. π
I enjoyed being outside the hotel more than being inside. The rooms are outdated, the couch in my room looked dirty, sleeper couch had sunk in. Had to wait in long ques for a table at breakfast, waiters hard to find. Hot drinks arrive at the table cold.To make things worse my vanity bag was stolen from my room with valuable including my wedding ring... Very disappointed.I have been to a few 5 star hotels, this one is definitely not in that league.
Always Love staying here... breakfast is great. The sleeper couch for kids, can seriously get an upgrade...
I was underwhelmed by the Palace. This was our first visit and I expected something similar to the Royal Palm in Mauritius. The devil is in the detail - missing carpet rods, loose light fittings in the bathroom of our junior suite, paper and bottles floating in the ponds surrounding the Crystal Room. Attention to detail makes for a 5 star experience The Palace must improve on this.
Everything is amazing inside the Palace, from your arrival to departure you will be treated like a Queen. The fun part was dining and there is always live music playing and you enjoy your Buffet meals⦠simply fantastic place, buildings and culture!
Would have given it 5 if it were not for the last day at breakfast. This being a Monday 27th Sept after the rush of the long weekend, so expected exceptional service. We had to wait almost 45 minutes for tea and coffee and worse still, a baby chair! I literally was feeding my baby on the floor! The hostess (stands front desk) walked past and I ask her to please assist, but she continued to set the table and with no rush or regard. All three tables around us had the same complaint. The saving grace was a waitress names Charmain - she was superb, professional and a delight. What a gem.I do though want to comment the other beautiful staff and team for the days before. Beautiful accommodation and service in general β¦
Words cant describe the Palace just breathe taking Proudly South African.
The palace of the lost city is no more a place to be lots of delays in service, you literally request a car to pick you from the visitor welcome centre you will have to wait for 2-3 hours, when you order for a meal in the grill room you will get your meal after 2 good hours when u no more hungry. They donβt care at all and they unapologetic itβs has been the worst weekend ever I have received with my family the food and beverage manager lady is so rude she will tell u in your face we donβt have space for dining and we canβt unfortunately do anything about it. I think they need to re-look at the service there otherwise itβs no more world class experience. The money spent is not worth it my birthday weekend was ruined
Top class resort loved every minute here.
The Palace is definetely a premier destination in the world. We really enjoyed our stay and the comfort and high standards of accomodation and experience provided. The breakfast ia definetely one of a kind - havent seen anything like it elsewhere, from a sushi bar to a juicing station to all varieties of meat ranging from pork, beef, lamb, chicken and fish to waffle and pancake stations. They also have a carvery section.I gave 4 stars since there were a couple of things that we were not happy about on our last visit that I flagged. Hoping that these arw addressed.Other than that I love this place and proud to have an esteblishment like this in SA
This old lady still have all the class and splendour i found in 1992. Definitely the best breakfast in SA. Always recommendef
One of the worst hotel experiences Ive ever had. The rooms are absolutely horrible. Incredibly out of date with extremely old furniture and curtains. The rooms are also very dark and do not promote a relaxing feeling in any way. The shuttle service from the hotel to anywhere in the resort can take up to 25 minutes, not what a flagship hotel should be offering. The main restaurant is also decorated with very old-fashioned furniture and carpets, that look like they havent been washed since they were put down. Room service was also extremely disappointing, with over and hour waiting period, for only 3 desserts(one was ice-cream and another was a slice of cheesecake). This with the hotel probably being under 50% capacity. Not worth the money for this hotel.
This is a big and beautiful hotel. We stayed there already several times. Kids enjoyed the pool with the wave so much :)
Always a treat to stay at the Palace of the Lost City. Royal is certainly what you feel like. Attention to detail and every aspect of the property, staff, food is just superb. We look forward to experiencing it in its full glory again
The best I have stayed in thus far....I felt safe with my daughter her the chauffeurs were extremely excellent
Love the palace. Giving it four stars because I think its going to offer a whole new level post its 30th birthday! (With hopefully warm pools again!)
Cant go wrong staying here, from the electric Jaguars to all the friendly staff. A few hiccups with the room were swiftly resolved. Also the standard of service was quickly rectified when we had an issue. Received a lovely surprise even though we werent celebrating any special occasion. Thank you to the Executive Housekeeper Pranusha Chinniah!! ππΌππΌππΌ
Awesome with animal statutes. Very beautiful place for photo shoot.
I have a booking and am trying to contact the hotel concierge. Itβs been weeks after leaving a message on the official website to contact me. But itβs been ignored till now. The hotel phone number doesnβt work. Iβm trying to book golf also, but the club keep on cancelling the call. Iβm not even arrived and yet I feel very poor service. Can the hotel please make contact with me.
Beautiful architecture all around, rooms are spacious and well decorated. The pools are well maintained. Breakfast and seating is spectacular. Great get away for the whole family.
It was lovely despite covid restrictions. Service was kind of slow, but wasnt too bad. We were on holiday, no rush necessary.
Luxury rooms. Breakfast was outstanding... Love the piano music at breakfast. Maintenance is needed in many areas... Not as spic and span as it used to be. Overall still a wonderful visit.
Amazing experience cant wait to go back π π
The lobby and outer areas are amazing but the rooms are very old fashioned especially the bathrooms. They went with a vintage look but they need a bit of upgrade
We shared a lovely weekend at Sun City, staying for the first time at the Palace of the Lost City was however a complete letdown. The rooms are somewhat dated, orange curtains, shower door couldnβt close properly and housekeeping was the pits. On arrival presented with a sealed room, apparently cleaned and sanitised. For a non-smoking room, we found ash on the carpet, toe nail clippings left on the bathroom floor β¦β¦ what a great start to our weekend.NOT SURE WHO HAS THAT CLEANING CONTRACT BUT THEY SHOULD BE FIRED.If it wasnβt for the absolutely gorgeous and fantastic breakfasts we would have rated staying at the Palace of the Lost City a 1 star and not worth the money you have to pay.
Service of buses and transport within the resort from Vacation club or any where for that matter is a disaster during this stage 3 lockdown. Waited more than 30 minutes for buss from Shebeen back; and more than 25 minutes on some days from Vacation club to restaurants. Not the same service as previously and the private buses bojanala, not friendly nor clean!
Place for my two daughters to celebrate their 20 years birthdays. Service you like a princess that you deserve to be..........I dont think we made a mistake in making or building those good memories for two girls who respect and focus on life to celebrate their birthday in style like this.Well building memories, than throwing a big party......this is it just the two of them at the Lost city. That just tell you how secure the place is, not mentioning that its a place where the sun never sets......fun and games all the way....I know that they will have a lovely weekend
Always nice here. Just whish they heated the pool again !
Exceptional service!!From arrival to departure and everything in-between was just amazing.Thank you very much, my family and I will definitely be back.
The Palace has changed, the service is terrible. Rooms are looking very outdated and not kept up. We had a clogged sink, air con and fan didnt work and that was just a couple of the many issues we had. So disappointed as you spend a fortune to stay at the hotel and itβs honestly just not worth it. Need to start uping your game.
It was very nice l enjoyed myself
Service is top class. You get a bottle of welcome wine in the room. LOL.
Absolutely amazing! Great atmosphere! Service like nowhere else. I WILL be back$
Hotel service was acceptable BUT the valet parking service cannot be trusted. They damaged my car and are not willing to admit their wrong doing. Sun City and Sun International should own up. Not worth the risk of handing over an expensive vehicle to a company and its employees who cannot act responsibly. #badservice #fail #valetparkingdisaster #thepalaceofthelostcity #southernsun #tsogosun
One of my favorite places in South Africa. The rooms are large and well appointed. The staff is friendly. The food is great, especially the breakfast buffet. The grounds have several trails for exploring. You must enjoy the water park while you are there. Also check out the small zoo. Beware of the monkeys! They WILL come into your room, even if you think you are high enough up to escape them, they WILL get in! Its been great to be able to identify this place in so many movies as well.
My first time here and what an amazing experience. Service and facilities are excellent. The buffet breakfast has great variety and food quality is very good. The ambiance is unique and the architecture is quite amazing. My only slight negative is that the decor and finishings in the rooms are quite dated and could do with a makeover.
The Lost City - FactsConstruction, which began in August 1990, took only 28 months to complete, a remarkably short period of time for a project of this breadth and complexity. The Palace exteriors are influenced by Africaβs prolific wildlife. The interiors were designed by Trisha Wilson of Wilson & Associates, Dallas, Texas.Nearly everything in The Palace was custom-made.The ceiling dome of the royal entrance chamber is an architectural feat. The lobbyβs intricate mosaic floor comprises of 38 different shades of marble. The painting on the ceiling of the royal entrance chamber was created in the same way as Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel in Rome. There are 75 000 meters of electrical conduit in The Palace. The Kingβs Tower, at 70m, is the tallest of the 10 Palace towers. The Kingβs Suite is the epitome of regal opulence.
Guest services are VERY poor. Calling the reception or housekeeping, nobody answers. 5min and numerous attempts, when someone answered, the request was not done.Excuses for everything.Staying by the Elephant wing, too take a shower you have to waste 6-8min of streaming water before it starts getting warm. For the amount of money you spend, this should not be the level of service.
Great place to enjoy a nice family or romantic outing.
Absolutely Superb - Such a wonderful treat for the whole family! The staff are phenomenal..wow, I could go on!
Amazing! Every well thought-out detail in this hotel is meant for the enjoyment, relaxation and pampering of the guests. The staff are super friendly too!
Alaways an amazing experience from when you walk through the door.
A classy and elegant look and feel with a dash of old school... Loved y stayπ
Very beautiful hotel! The interior and exterior is really something else, but unfortunately the service was not up to standard for a 5 star hotel. We waited more than 1 hour for our in room dining to arrive. I ordered chicken and rice. The rice portion was the size of a childβs fist, and the tiny chicken portion was not great. The breakfast buffet was overcrowded with no dressed seating provided outside while we were there (not acceptable during covid I feel). People were queuing to get seated.I feel Sun City Palace hotel itself is stunning but there is room for improvement to make it truly great
Amazing, enjoyed our stay to the fullest. Just too stunning, amazing place for a family vacation away. Hope to visit again soon.
It was fun and there are so many things to do even if you dont have that much cash on you.. Totally worth it
Great support from the hotel staff, makes you feel truly cared for. Beautiful facilities and just an overall wonderful experience.
It was awesomeThe staff were greatI had a fantastic timeWe will deffinately be backThank you
Vacation club great value for money. Many options to entertain yourself. Short cut to Pilansberg not available now.
I found the lost city I never thought I will be there to see those big walls like Egypt was nice experience and the welcome that we go from the guy who was wearing like Egyptians it was a wow keep it up
It was a great experience and a beautiful place, a must see in person!!
The palace is not the 5 star + hotel of 10 years ago, it still an average 5 star hotel, but service is not the effortless 5 star level expected from a grand hotel like this. Rooms are of a good standard but have dated. Still clean and and tidy. Access to facilities are really good. Food is of a good standard but breakfast is not as grand as it used to be, but understandable during covid. Thanks
One of the best hotels i stayed in my entire life great service great people great activities i will definitely visit again and again
It was a beautiful family vacation. The kids really enjoyed the activities. The staff is really friendly.
Beautiful location, delicious buffet breakfast (all suitably layed out for covid conditions) friendly staff. Only rated a 4 since its generally not that affordable and we only got to go because of a special thats running till the end of June (2021).
Nice been here although at night
Gorgeous 5 star hotel in the heart of sun city. Amazing hospitality and entertainment in and around the palace
The hotel itself is amazing and showcase opulence however the rooms desperately require an urgent revamp and upgrade as its definitely not worth a 5*. The rooms are well sized however the toilet you can hardly move inside and uncomfortably minute. The furniture is dated, about 27 years ago I would use the term opulent but not anymore. Overall I would say the experience was great but not a another visit until a refurbishment has taken place.
Lovely hotel, rooms perhaps need to be modernized a bit otherwise the old world charm with carpet was okay.
All best services. One thing to note is the hotel rooms needs the renovation it is not because something not working but as the world moving towards next gen living the rooms also needs to be modernised.
Best place to beThe World in 1 place
The grill room here was horrendous. The service was shoddy and food below par.
A very nice place to visit, refreshing and relaxing.
The Palace is the best you can get. Service excellent all round. Property in good condition even after so many years.
It was wonderful and relaxing having fun,I really enjoyed myself β€οΈβ€οΈππ
Excellent all round service
Room is amazing love this place and thank you so much for making this stay pleasant
Best breakfast! The piano player adds the perfect touch. Efficient service.
Wonderful place to stay. Well worth the visit
I consider the place for royalty. The service and hospitality is of the higher level
Hotel staff extremely rude and abrupt. Disgusted by customer service. On the way to the pool area and was unaware of a room card proving access. Lady by the name of Lizzy exhibited derelict manners, was atrocious in her assistance and proceeded to refer to myself and brother as βboyβ. Upon reprimand, she did it again to no apology. Ugly interaction and an unsavory feeling after what was a good stay. Horrible employee.
The architecture and ambiance of this hotel is superb. It has however become a golden oldie and the rooms are in need of an urgent upgrade.the rooms are very spacious but the furniture is aged .the bathroom is classic in design but to aged.the hotel grounds are beautifully designed and create a holiday conducive environment. The hotels current status is no more than a 3 star.
Excellent service, friendly staff, enjoyed my stay. The breakfast buffet is 5 π
An experience, really enjoyed visit
Had to park my own car. Shower drain was blocked and the shower door was leaking. Asked for rooms next to each other and was told it would be provided.on arrival the rooms were far from each other.
Great service ,attention to detail and excellent food
Best experience every time I visit.
Really not worth a 5 star ratingRooms and suites are old-fashioned and carpets have a damp smellLifts were not working and we still had a baby and pram . Reported this several times and was told its a maintenance issues.Spa, gym, and casino arent within hotelDoesnt live up to advertised five-star ratingI prefer the cascades but this was closed due to maintenance. Some good thingsUpscale property designed to resemble a lost African kingdomSet amid 62 acres of scenic jungleFriendly staff
Wonderful Service, Great Food and accommodation.
Hotel - Beautiful exterior but not what one would expecte for the price you pay to stay here - had an issue with no hot water in bathroom.Dont mind the dated look but it feels old.Service - is 4 star.Breakfast and dining is 4 star.Social distancing was easy because hotel wasvery quiet and big enough to avoid people easily.
Great experience, staff was so helpful and the food was perfect
Everything from arrival to departure was an absolute treat. Thanks to exceptionally friendly staff and really tasty food. Although it was rainy, we dit not have one bad experience, anywhere.
