Food great! Coffee great however we had to ask for breakfast menus after sitting a few minutes and a dash of speed would help service levels especially when your patrons arrive hungry! Overall 7/10.

I am very happy that they have reopened. The place looks stunning again. We just had breakfast here and what good value for money! I had the Hangover Fried Rice (picture included) and it honestly very delicious. my wife had the English breakfast, what a good portion. will definitely recommend breakfast here..

Probably the worst meal l have had in years. Although the calamari l ordered was nice, nothing else was, and my wifes food was worse than mine - dry and dreadful. The manager did comp my wifes food but we left still hungry because there was very little actually edible.

I waited over an hour and a half for my food. This is unacceptable and very poor service. So disappointed and I can reassure that I will no longer return to your establishment. Such an inconvenience.

Great platters for sharing. The vibe depends on the day of the week and time. Weekends are packed with young people, sometimes a little too young. Great for breakfast and mid-week lunches and meetings. I have been going there on and off for 10 years.

The menu and drinks are reasonably priced and the staff are friendly and attentive.I had the deep fried mac n cheese starter to snack on whilst I worked and can confirm that they taste as good as they sound 👌🏻

This used to be a lovely News Cafe but sadly no more. Had a breakfast meeting here.Food and service was good but the toilets & venue are terribly run down. Toilets are dingy and dark & clearly need a coat of paint & a revamp. I saw no sign of any managers and the lack of management is evident when you see the waitrons & bar staff on their cell phones. Will definitely not be back.

Got there at about 8 oclock at night, bouncers were friendly and helpful. Wish I could say the same about the staff they were extremely slow at that point we waited about 45 minutes inbetween orders for the drinks to be brought to us. We were seated in the smoking area where I asked our server on arrival for an ashtray, I waited about ten minutes before standing up to ask another server for an ashtray and I was looked in the eyes and got blatantly ignored by her. My friend that joined me for the evening saw my frustration and stood up and asked another server for an ashtray when we finally received one. The drinks were incredible and well topped off but the service needs attention

New menu, looks nice, but actual presentation and taste very poor.Service, came with smiles, was very good.The manage ask for our opinion, wr give then he started arguing and making excuses.DONT ask for feedback if you cannot take it.Apart from the food, the beer, sevice and vibe was great.Will I go back, yes, will i eat, probably not.

Our waitress had a very poor attitude. Didn’t check in once to see if everything was ok. R90 breakfast with only thing warm on the plate being the mushrooms, undercooked chips and bacon swimming in oil. Didn’t even have butter to put on the dried out piece of toast. I am now done with News Cafe

News Cafe @ Hillfox. Friendly staff. Food is great. DJ Music can be better, but customers are really enjoying.highly recommended...

I liked it! The food was really good. They had a smoking section (Dec 2017). Friendly staffed, well priced.

The service was extremely slow, restaurant took very long to send out our starters portions are ridiculous for the price, also it seems like news cafe has made absolutely no pledge or commitment to saving our environment. They are still using a lot of single use plastic. They have a very limited menu for Vegetarian main course. However if you do happen to go there make sure to try the kiwi apple and mint freezos.

Service slow. Some of the chairs look very bad. Drinks were fine. Waiters not super interested in speedy service.

Its an okay place. Not as fun/ lively as other news cafes. Male waiters are friendly, female ones are just ride and ignorant - dont know if they treat male customers the same way.

Its a nice place however their food is not so great the only dessert is ice cream. They have a variety of drinks & play nice music.

The menu is stale and unappealing. Visited during loadshedding and was told the kitchen was open. However, only a few of the dishes were actually available. Something they only inform you of after you place your order and have caught you by serving drinks. Decor, furniture and fittings were in a terribly run down state. We wont be back.

The food isnt that awesome but then again youre probably not going there for the food aspect. They play the same music. I was inappropriately groped by the manager. But thats just another day in Hilfox to be honest.

The seating outside has a good view too.Good option for a laid back dinner or a drink or 2.They however have deteriorated in service from quite sometime now. Food has become awful and the one which ordered was half cooked. It seems as if staff is not quite interested in serving. They look tiresome and the overall mood of restaurant is also the same. We stopped visitng the restaurant from that expereince onwards.

Bad Service and not kept well, their Cocktails are just like fruit punch, alcohol free. Complained on 2 occasions about this and was made to feel like i wanted to score free drinks with my mates, when i know my alcohol very well. Sadly wont be going there anytime soon. Even though its less than 5km from my door step.
