Was quite interesting. Enjoyed walking through and saw lots of items that stirred memories from the time I grew up. Enjoyed my scone.

An unexpected delightful experience in an unusual historical setting. Excellent Bobotie and specially the Carrot cake served in a very friendly atmosphere on a very cold and wet day and with the Fire burning in the coffee shop was most welcoming. Well worth a visit and experience. It would have been great to have more history of the prison and notices in each room indicating what they were used for. But well worth the experience.

This place is truly something unique. Lovely atmosphere under the trees. The people are very friendly and welcoming. The old jail cells are furnished with all sorts of antiques that are for sale. A few artworks and a healing room are also available. We really enjoyed a milkshake under the trees on that warm summers day.

This coffee house is so rich in history. A very unique experience.If you are close to riversdale, don’t miss an opportunity to visit here!Food is was good. Prices are good.

Nice for a quick walk around. Small restaurant there. We didnt sit down. Wouldve like to read more history of the place. Also thought things like art and other stuff was a little expensive.

Cute find! Glad we stopped by. Very nice setting in the courtyard. I really enjoyed my Toasties and the carrot cake was definitely a hit. The signboard outside doesnt do justice to how quaint it is inside. Worth a stop for lunch in Riversdale if driving down the Garden Route.

Wonderful rustic private museum combined with restaurant with historic background. Very interesting place and good food at reasonable prices. Well worth a visit when looking for a relaxed family or friends outing.

Interesting old prison cells with furniture, books and antiques. Worth a visit. Lovely engagement with the owner. Had very tasty chicken mayo toast and strawberry milkshake. Will return. Highly recommended if you like old places full of history and character.

Love this place. One of my fav places in the country. It has so much to offer. Shopping of antiques, a beautiful cafe, multiple courtyards, history and stories all while getting lost in the labyrinth of a old jail which has a oddly south American essence of architecture. Stunning. There is a beautiful piano in one of the rooms that I love to play every time I am there

FANTASTIC. BEST COFFEE.

It was a very interesting place, a sort of museum, with the most beautiful antiques, which can be purchased by visitors. The jail building and garden is still the same as it used to be in the past, but surely not as depressing, for there are lots of flowers and plants and trees! We had a lovely tea with scones and muffins, served by neat and friendly personnel afterwards. We can recommend The Old Jail to any tourist or visitor in the Hessequa area!

Definitely worth having a.drink there and experience the history. Some nice artifacts, but the whole place just breathes history and somehow gave us a peaceful feeling

The food was nothing special. The service is average the waitress was nice but doesnt know alot about what they have. The place was unique.
