This is the most hideous place I’ve ever been to. The owners are extremely rude, unhelpful, hostile and unhygienic. If you want to contract covid-19, then go there. The male owner doesn’t ever wear his mask and has mucus running from his nose. I told him to wear it and he was very upset about that. There is NO social distancing and the kitchen floor is an absolute disgrace to say the least. The female owner has a rotten attitude and is constantly rude and in denial whenever there is a complaint. The cheese on the pizza I bought was expired and I had to throw it away because of the smell. What a waste of money, Lugz needs to be shut down and the owners need to learn how to treat customers.

After waiting 30mins the waiter started putting my order together without sanitizing or washing his hands. Thank goodness I was able to cancel on the spot. Also the person in the kitchen dismissed that I was waiting so long until I produced my slip which he didnt even look at. Responded with they have other orders.

Food was okay. Its very difficult to find a good bunny chow in Jhb. A lot of places glamorise by saying Authentic Durban Style but always ends up being far from it. Although I really craved a bunny, and it was fair. There arent many places in jhb that I feel are much better.

The service and food was horrific, we ordered 3 bunnies all which we were cold and had alot of salt. We requested for extra gravy and the bunnies came served dry. We then asked to speak to the manager, who is also the owner and she had refused to come out. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone simply for her attitude towards customers.

Was hoping for a good durban style mutton bunny but was quite disappointed. Few pieces of mutton and could taste that the meat was not cooked with the curry because the flavour of the meat tasted like stew. Bread was fresh but potatoes were a bit hard. The beans bunny was on point and pizzas were alright. Cheese and corn samoosas were very tasty and probably the highlight of my meal. Lime milkshake was also very tasty.

First and last for me.... Food was nowhere near durban style food. The mince samosas smell was awful and tasted like it was not even mutton mince,It had a game meat awful smell. Vedas were burnt to a crisp !!!.samp and mutton was like stones and venison. Lastly had the breyani which was curry and yellow rice. We ordered a few different items to taste them but will never go back. Kids actually didnt eat their bunnys . Please dont be duped into trying this establishment.

Ordered the mutton and chicken curry as take away . The mutton curry had horrible cheap meat , the gravy was like water , salt was slightly over and the potatoes were hard. Chicken curry color was red but flavorless, gravy ran all over my plate and had a strong ginger and garlic taste. They fill the containers with lots of gravy and just a few pieces of meat. So disappointing and complete waste of my money. People who voted for them in 2017 in the Coca Cola competition either have no taste buds or have never tasted good Indian cuisine before. This is now the 3rd disaster Indian restaurant I have visited since I moved to JHB ... seems to be a trend here !

We ordered through Mr. Delivery. Delivery was quick. We ordered the Chicken and Prawn Curry with rice. What we got was a few (maybe 3 pieces of chicken) and a few prawns swimming in sauce that looked more like soup with a few pieces of peas.... We asked for Mild Curry but the food was extremely HOT. Rice was also undercooked. The portion size was rather small for the price compared to the other restaurants we usually support. Quite disappointed.

I wont give up, if its a mistake I will try again. Someone must get back to me to say that tandoori is good there. Bunny chow is good, not the best. May be will try again in sometime and will update my review if anything changes. Good shops must maintain their recipes and its taste.

I bought a mutton bunny this afternoon, in a rush to get a quick dinner, which was virtually a neon orange sloppy mess. It was so far from being curry that it completely destroyed my craving. The single potato and meat were clearly boiled and then added to the curry (I use that term very loosely in this regard). It was pale, without flavor, spice or salt. When I tore into the bread, orange liquid spilled out, the consistency a little thicker than water. Needless to say we threw it away, a waste of R 82 and an even bigger disappointment. Definitely not a place worth buying food from again.

Review №70

After seeing some good and NOT so good reviews I decided to give Lugz a chance today as I have never been there before and there is a first time do everything right? We get there and were seated pretty quick as there were not many people there(red flag for future ventues). We knew exactly what we wanted 1X mutton bunny with extra gravy, 3 mince samoosas 3 cheese and corn samoosas and 2X veda. Food took a little while to come although all us indian folk know exactly what the cook time is on those dishes maybe 2 minutes to fry the veda giving the benefit of the doubt here but maybe 6 minutes for all samoosas and yes they are even fried from frozen(FACT!!!). About 30 to 60 seconds to dish the already prepared curry into a stale 1/4 loaf of hollowed out bread. Any efficient well run indian take away or restuarant knows the above. So food eventually arrived. Portion control and no not price control because price control is always perfect at these places but portion control is tight must have been a quarter of a teaspoon maybe less of cheese in the corn and onion samoosa. This menu item should change to corn and onion with a dash of cheese samoosa. The mince samoosa just had no taste, like the rough ground mince was steamed and put in the the pastry. The chilli dip sauce was the best tasting item on the table for me. Now we get to the veda tasting...OMG who here has eaten a legitimate SOUR veda ??? In all my years eating veda and samoosas at home or at a connections place or the countless functions since birth a long time ago. Notified the waiter about the sour veda cakes which he simply just removed from the table. Not once did he return to apologize and to even ask of we would like something else. Oh and this place does not give saucers (little) plates at all to eat ur starters neither do they give straws for your drink if u dont ask for it. As mentioned the bread was not fresh, the curry was ok and we finished all the curry without most of the bread. The owners of the place seemed to be entertaining his guests in the back part of the restaurant making a hell of a noise. Gosh they were loud, no consideration for your own customers...your Bread and butter. And the owner smokes in the restaurant all the time there was constant cigarette smell in almost our entire time there. I really dont understand how these people take our hard earned money and get away with pathetic restuarant and service like this. Oh and predictably the vedas were on the bill which I asked to be removed and they did. However still zero interaction or apology from a manager or owner. Never again. I hope I can save a few of you out there with this review. What a nerve or how we say cheek to give your restuarant the abbreviated or short name from a place that was so loved by all Indians in KZN. Your food will never match the Lugz that we all know.

Order: 1/4 Mutton Bunny TakeawayStaff: Not friendlyThe grated carrots in the salad was stale, cold and hard. Not great at all. The salad is possibly packed and frozen? The bunny itself was quiet dry, definitely not even gravy.Curry was somewhat tasteless, not the worst but most definitely not close to being good and meat was not soft.Part of this issue is my fault which I take accountability however after paying for the bunny meal I asked for a can of coke, when receiving the change I realised the can was R18.50 (yes i should have asked for the price first) and advised the cashier I wish to return the can, he advised he couldnt which I found ridiculous. I insisted and he refused. I then left, not happy at all and when I got home the bunny itself did not improve my mood. Personally I will not return as there are much much better Indian establishments in Randburg!

Disappointment!!! Nothing compared to the old restaurants of Blue Lagoon, its namesake. 1/4 Mutton, loaded with Potatoes, thin tasteless gravy, tough pieces of meat with no flavor, thick bread with small bud.....very sad end to my weekend. I’ve ordered the chicken curry and the chicken briyani via Mr Delivery for collection.I have to say, I was extremely disappointed. The briyani only had two pieces in it (small pieces as well) the chicken curry: the portion of the curry itself was extremely small, with only 2 pieces in it and the rest of it was just flooded with rice. The price is not cheap as well. R92 for a Chicken Curry and Rice - so you’re basically paying R92 for rice. The briyani is R98 and you only get two pieces! That is an absolute ripoff. The food itself tasted okay. It had some flavor and had a small kick to it. The pickle that comes with the curry is quite delicious. For the price that you pay and with what little you get, I could never recommend this place to anybody.
