Not sure what happened here. The place has moved down the road and seemingly only serves takeaways. There are some wooden benches but it did not seem like we could sit down to eat there. Nothing like it used to be.

This use to be a wonderful restaurant...just walked in for a meal and was told they dont do that anymore. Very sad. The lady behind the bar who is not keen on taking orders told me they only do take aways now no sit down meals anymore. They have tables with seats and menus on...

Ordered from them for the first time and the last time. We ordered the Schnitzel with mushroom sauce and chips. Everything was very oily and the mushroom sauce was watery with piece of dough in it, it didnt smell or look like a mushroom sauce at all, I couldnt spot one mushroom in any of the five sauce. The meat was under seasoned. Definitely not recommended.

Great platter with really good eisbein but the waiter didnt know what was meant by on tap and said they didnt have any until we pointed at another table and showed him what we meant. He seemed completely clueless. They also havent done their full research on the importance of pretzels in German culture and refused to give us one on its own. I had to educate them as to why Germans have pretzels with beer and that it doesnt come with soup!

Truly the worst schnitzel ever. Chicken, soggy crumbs smothered with a white sauce if sorts and then MASSES of melted cheddar cheese. More cheddar than a toasted cheese sandwich, only not as nice. Food has really gone to pot. Sorry guys - we were hoping to come back for eisbein. Think not.

Sadly with the change of location the atmosphere and what made it what it was is no more. Parking is atrocious, Menu is limited, when I went there wasnt even any available on tap drinks. Lets not forget the gawd awful easier electronic payment mechanisms they are using. Then you need to obviously question if the upstairs area may actually be a brothel??? The tables are minuscule, not made for a large chap, and half the table is used for some daft ice bucket holder. Its shocking what has happened... and you hope that these savings the new owner is getting would be passed onto you... bad news! Oh and apart from the lack of German beers on tap... No Bratwurst!!! So sad, such a awesome place robbed of all it atmosphere and greatness. Honestly just give it a miss!

German pub type restaurant with an indoor lapa type area adjoining other cosy areas that very pleasing when the weather fairs well. Although signs indicating no smoking, unfortunately some patrons ignored the signs, making it unpleasant for some. Small sad looking kiddies area in a dark lonely corner. Waiter was friendly and efficient so top marks for her. Eisbein special was great value for money and really big, easily shareable between two people. Wurst was also bouncy and tasty. Chips were on the sad side. Outside area has some plug points in case you need to charge some electronics. Inside parking available.

First time trying Schwabinger Stuben Restaurant. We sat in the dark because they didnt have candles. They had to go to the store to buy some only after we asked for some light. Our waiter only took our orders after they came back from the shop. The waiter did not know what milkshakes they had, saying they have the normal kind, like vanilla and then cautiously added strawberry and estimated the price around R56. After I asked if he could go and double check what kinds they have with an accurate price, because we could not find any on the menu, he came back with his phone on the Uber App. LOL.According to the app, they actually have a lovely selection of Milkshakes,; like Cheesecake flavor, Cookies and cream and many more. It only cost around R30 too.Even though the Cheesecake one only tasted like normal vanilla, It was still a decent shake. The food was at least really nice. that made up for all the mishaps with our waiter. I think it was just a bad night for him... I dont know. There was also no manager who checked on any of the tables. a shame really.

Rustical ambiente, but the best German food in Joburg, and plenty of German beers, sold in 1L glasses if you are up to it. Prices are reaonable with very large portions making them cheap. Smoking is alowed under the roof, can be an issue, but other wise an absolute favourite of mine.

We went here for a work team lunch. Its a really cool place and it feels like a small little German outpost. Although the menu is somewhat limited (mostly pork), the food portions are very generous and the beer selection is great. I especially enjoyed the Berghof. We experienced the service as being quite slow. This is while the restaurant was fairly quiet. Will this stop us from going again? Probably not, this is a great place for a work lunch!

Went to the market at venue today. Extremely disorganized. Kids area closed. You get breakfast from a gazebo outside. Drinks inside the restaurant. Teas and coffee in another shop. The external seating for couples only. 2 stars for the awesome breakfast from the guy with a smile that served us❤️😊

Update 2021They have moved up the road. The ambience of the new premises is poor in comparison to my 2018 review. I will update on the food quality.Great German fare! Having tasted the pucker stuff from a German chef, I am convinced this is the real deal. I cannot resist their Eisbein, both on premises and as take away. German sausages in all their abundance. And an amazing array of draught and Craft beers. Decor and layout haphazard. Definitely not a Sandton dinery. Great atmosphere, though. Seeing the likes of Lambos and the Prancing Horse around, you know the place is a firm favourite.

In one word: BLANDFrom a pleasing first impression at first glance this restaurant seems to be a place to enjoy a good meal and company. Sadly this turned out to be only a fleeting impression. For a birthday three friends joined me at this venue for a hearty meal and drinks. When we were first placed at a table we were comfortable and was even moved to a new spot on request. Sadly it appears that the place is either short staffed or manned by an incompetent team and leadership.Four difirent meals were ordered, and for some strange reason took over 40 minutes to arrive at our table, cold. The portions were of a very generous size, and that is where it stopped. Bland is the only way to describe the meals. All of us reaching for salt, pepper and sauses just to add some taste. On average it took us 3 attempts and 10 minutes just finda waiter. The cocktails ordered at our table were for the most part watered down with us left feeling the barman should go practice more.Sadly this has been a more than Meh experience.

Atmosphere:- Average with the ambience being created only by the patrons.Staff:- Friendly with service that is generally very slow.Food & Beverages:- Unfortunately the menu leaves a lot to be desired. As an example, you can no longer have two sausages with your meal without paying for a second meal is absolutely ridiculous. The quality could also be better with the food being bland.Value for Money:- The drinks are priced well with the food being an average price.Notes:- There are tons of parking.
