I have been a patient of Dr Slabbert since he removed my brain tumour. Indeed he is excellent,good and kind. His wife Helen who makes all appointments, is really officious and enjoys the power of allowing one an appointment at her behest. After telephonic promises of an e mail To arrange my MRI, 2 days ago , I called today to be told rather rudely that I am disturbing her afternoon off and really do not understand how stressed she is with Covid 19. Her prima donna behaviour is unprofessional and unacceptable.This is my experience with the wife who it seems one cannot avoid even though the actual specialist is a gem. I do however need to urgently see a neurosurgeon and will unfortunately and sadly have to find another .So much for me being the client and respect for the client .

From the time I entered Dr Slabberts practice on the 7 June 2021 I felt comfortable. Helen was efficient, kind, exceptionally caring and always kept me informed. Elizabeth was polite and efficient. I then had my consultation with Dr Slabbert who examined me thoroughly and explained his findings in detail and in laymans terms. My Lumbar Laminectomy / Discectomy L4/L5 and L5/S1 plus fusion and internal fixation L4-S1 and Tlif was scheduled for the 17 June 2021, however, due to the third wave of Covid all procedures were cancelled and I had to wait. Moving forward to the 30 July I finally had my operation, I am over the moon, I am beyond impressed with Dr Slabbert, he is a caring, kind and dear man, his knowledge and level of expertise is next level, he is a blessing to all those who have been treated my him.Dr Nel the orthopaedic surgeon is amazing, he is kind and humble, he and Dr Slabbert make a formidable team. Lize Botha is the physiotherapist, what a gem of a lady, firm but patient, she got me out of bed on day 1, I never looked back, I do my exercises as instructed daily and I walk all the time. Im mobile and feel comfortable with what Im doing considering Im 10 days post op. The staff in ward 13 at the PTA East hospital were helpful, some far better than others, however, in general a lovely, caring group of ladies that I built relationships with. To summarise Dr Slabbert is the only neurosurgeon I would suggest you see and I travelled from Benoni to see him. To Helen and her team, youre doing a sterling job under such trying circumstances, I appreciate you and I cant thank you enough for your kindness and just being there, Personal attention!!! Dr PT Slabbert listened to me, then he did the physical examination and then he carefully examined the scans I had with me, all the while recording his findings on a recording device.He noticed things other neurosurgeons have missed and explained to me what was wrong and how he could help me.I felt safe and hopeful for a better quality of life with less pain if I followed his advice. Dr Slabbert did a DBS operation on me 3 years ago. It changed my life, I surver from Dystonia but with the stimulation i am totaly cured from tremor, which makes it possible to even speak in front of big audiences. If you need help contact this Dr.

Dr Slabbert saw me for the first time in 2016 when I had a shunt obstruction.I had, had a bad experience with another Neuro, and unlike other Neurosurgeons who wouldnt touch another patient he operated on me and inserted an adjustable shunt. I had to have it operated on 2 days ago as protein had started to form and Dr Slabbert did the procedure.He is extremely busy as one can understand, and therefore not always able to see you in the ward but that is a small price to pay for the mans sheer brilliance.I owe this man the last three years of my life.I read comments on here about the reception area and about how they were supposedly treated badly.Helen works extremely hard and runs Dr Slabberts practice. She is an integral part of what makes him the genius he is and allows him to focus on operations (up to 8 a day)

After just overhearing how the lady at the front desk spoke to a patient I felt so uncomfortable I felt like I had to leave, there is such an atmosphere in the waiting room because of this bully.I went on “ratemds” to see what other people say, and all I can find are bad reviews because of this woman, the Dr’s praises are sung, but an expert isn’t worth this waiting room’s tension.

A doctor’s first impressions are made by the receptionist, in this case the doctor’s judgement should be seriously questions after employing a woman like this. The rudest and most disorganized person I have ever seen at a hospital (or anywhere for that matter). She should be fired asap, I volunteer to do the firing if the dr isn’t willing.

I took my soon in when he was just 3 years old for a VP Shunt till today my son still has that Shunt. Dr Slabbert is the best ever

Overhyped, overbooked and just not worth it. Don’t book patients every 15 minutes if you take an hour per patient

Dr Slabbert operated on my back in 2013 and I have not looked back. What a kind and gentle human being.

The “lady” behind the counter is extremely rude, taking phone calls while you are standing in front of her, and when you are on the phone with her she does her own thing and does not pay attention to the call and is rude and just tries to get the call done.

Dr. Slabbert is an awesome doctor as well as a caring one! I have been going to him for 20 years now and would never even think of going anywhere else!

Dr. Pieter Slabbert has my lifeirrevocably changed with the deep brain stimulation implant for treatment of Parkinson Desease. Thank you Dr Slabbert 1 of the best Neurosurgeons I know. My first operation was 1996 until 2016 now I have to be done again on a different level.
