A review from the husband:My wife and I had been trying for two years to become pregnant and at the end of last year, we got the good news. Looking for a Gynaecologist in Pretoria east we found Dr Janine Potgieter on Google and as always we wanted to make sure she was a good doctor. We read the reviews and tried to ascertain as much info as no one referred us and we didn’t know anyone personally who could give us the nod of approval.That said we are super happy we found Dr Janine. She is a considerate and passionate medical professional and she knows what she is talking about, a VERY good Gynaecologist. We enjoy her candidness and value her humility but most of all her honestly. She is very professional and makes things clear and understandable. We had early pregnancy complications but Dr Janine helped us through it with the utmost care and compassion, it was truly a difficult experience and she did make the process better and bearable.Now almost a whole 5 months later we are back and happy to have her as our Gynaecologist. We would highly recommend her. I can honestly say that even though our first pregnancy was short-lived and the process seems so daunting now, she took it upon herself to give us peace of mind and ease our fears. We look forward to seeing her and going through this process again.

I was referred to Janine by two different friends when I was pregnant with my first child and she exceeded my expectations. I am currently pregnant with my second child and I am so happy to be her patient once again. She makes me and my husband feel so welcome, comfortable and important during each and every visit. She has so much knowledge and experience and really explains everything in so much detail which eases any concerns I might have. She is honest (especially when it comes to your well being) and communicates well, I never leave her rooms feeling uncertain about anything. She is clearly very passionate about what she does and I look forward to our visits every time.

Over the years my husband and I have enjoyed our visits at Dr Janine Potgieters practice. It is always a pleasant experience. Louise is friendly and sincere, you dont feel like a number. Dr J will be delivering our 3rd baby this July. She is someone you can rely on to take charge of any situation when it comes to the health and safety of yourself and your little one. We have the utmost faith and trust in her.

Dr. Janine is incredible. Not only does she take great care of me and the health of my unborn baby, but she is also lovely to speak with at every appointment. She is hilarious with an insane sense of humor and that puts me at ease each time. She doesnt feel like a doctor, more like a great friend. The first time I went to Dr Potgieters practice I was warmly welcomed by Erika and Louise, two beautiful souls. They always made me feel at home. Dr Potgieter is so friendly and easy going. I must say I love how you ladies always looked beautiful and elegant, it made me also want to look my best for my appointments. I always looked forward to my appointments to see my little princess and of course have a lovely chat with Dr Janine. Having to give birth during a pandemic was nerve wrecking and filled with so many uncertainties but she was always relaxed and assured me that everything will go well. My delivery went so smoothly. Thank you Dr Potgieter, this job is definitely a calling for you. I love the pink palace and will keep coming back for check ups and to say hi when i go to my babys check ups.I will definitely refer anyone who is looking for the best Gynaecologist and Obstetrician in Pretoria East. Cold and cruel with no feelings or bedside manner and just wants to be in control or right without hearing how a patient feels. Will find a new doctor urgently. A pity not more can be said as it is a private and sensitive problem but some patients need a gentle heart to understand their fear or problems and not just shut them up or cut them short but listen a little deeper. We will go to emergency unit at another hospital where we can find sensitivity and help since you only offer hard and shallow words that doesnt help when the problem increases without caring how the scared the patient feels. For your information the pseudonym was created years ago and not especially for you. Dont bother replying cause it wont be read.

At first I thought Dr. Janine was nice and professional, but after a simple misunderstanding between my husband and her staff, she simply refused to listen to our side of the story and actually started screaming at us in her office in front of anyone and everyone that was there. I feel the situation could have been handled in a more polite and professional manner. As a result I had to transfer to a new gynecologist late in my third trimester. Pregnancy and your experience with your gynecologist is supposed to be a wonderful time, but this was not the case with Dr. Janine.

I am a first time mom who found out I was pregnant at 20 weeks. I came for a 9am appointment and attended to around 09:35 - no apologies for late attendance. I still had to go to work and missed a day without a doctors certificate which I forgot to request due to the confusion I left that office in. I personally dont think shes a bad person, she was just not the nicest and welcoming doctor to me. Or perhaps I could stop being so polite since the same courtesy wasnt extended to me. I should have actually walked out the minute she started being rude to me during that consultation and telling me how she insisted I definitely knew I was pregnant after telling her I was a first time mom and had no body changes or significant changes I couldve noticed. I felt uncomfortable, not handled delicate and not taught about where I currently am. She just put gel on my stomach before even explaining what it was for, and starting moving the machine on my stomach so harshly!! I felt pain and she couldnt care less.I wouldve expected to know what to eat, how to better improve the health of my baby and myself, what vitamins to take etc. Those are things I wouldve expected to be told without even asking. She said NOTHING!! Instead I was told if I wasnt on contraceptives, I defs planned the pregnancy. It felt more like a lecture than a doctors visit. It was super brief and honestly I could go on and be more specific but the point of this review isnt to be malicious but to rather give someone else like me better knowledge before booking an appointment. Oh and how at 20 weeks I shouldve known I was pregnant. I know nothing about the movements of the baby or what they signify. I know about how shed have to take extra care of the client before me whom she seemed to have been 20 times more friendly to. I didnt even know what questions to ask as a first time mom! I left there regretting taking the recommendation and wished I had a different and calming experience. Instead, I am still confused and feel like I actually have no one to rely on medically. Ive heard great stories about gynaes and mine was the total opposite. The cherry on top was discussing my pregnancy with her receptionist in front of other clients in the foyer. I felt so humiliated and violated. Then sending me for blood tests without informing me I would have to pay more at the lab!! Horrific!! I am annoyed with myself for paying so much money for that poor service. Perhaps, it was because I looked different from her normal clientele. She decorates her office with babies of a certain race and not once did I spot one that didnt look like her. I should have walked out when I saw that instead I stayed, out of desperation and needing help. Instead of getting what I will always remember as the worst doctors visit. The more I share my experience with people, the more angrier a d annoyed I get for not speaking up when it happened. As per Gugu Ndlovus review, I feel her practice accommodates a certain clientele. And I definitely do not fit the description. You almost ruined my experience for me, but thank God I found amazing doctors

Absolute best Gynaecologist in Pretoria ♡♡This is our second pregnancy and dr Janine Potgieters consulting room now starts feeling like home. She has the best receptionist, thats always welcomes everybody with a warm smile. After our warm welcome every time dr Janine appears with a smile (always) - she makes me and my husband feel welcome and tells us straight all facts and concerns she has and does not sugar coat, we absolutely love that about her. Leaving the consulting room after a visit we feel excited and ready.We will recommend dr Janine to anybody looking for an amazing gynaecologist, who makes you and your husband feel welcome.

Dr Janine is truly THE BEST Doctor on this planet! She is such an amazing woman, full of passion for what she does. When you look her in the eye, you can see she is such a hardworking woman with a major passion for what she does. I walked into her office at 5 weeks pregnant and she was just the perfect doctor for me. She delivered my baby boy and helped me go through every second of labour. She was by my side encouraging me and telling me what a great job I am doing. Dr Janine, you made my labour experience (even in the middle of Covid), the best labour experience ever. Dr. Potgieter is a wonderful doctor. She always made me feel so comfortable and safe during my pregnancy seeing as I have Type1 diabetes. I visited Dr Janine Potgieter for the first time during my third pregnancy. Even though it is my third pregnancy, she took the time to explain everything to me again and she is always willing to answer any questions. I have a rare condition and she really went the extra mile to get all the necessary information about it which I greatly appreciated as she is not shy to contact other specialists for guidance and support in order to ensure that me and my baby get the best possible care. As a mother herself she is very caring and her sense of humor makes this pregnancy journey so much fun. I can strongly recommend her to anyone.

Dr Potgieter and her staff just blew me away, from being efficiently assisted on the phone for an appointment to warmly being welcomed upon arrival.Dr Potgieter made me feel so comfortable, I felt like I could ask her any question and talk about my concerns. She took the time to listen and emphasize with me, which is very rare when dealing with a specialist. I highly recommend her practice to anyone and in all honesty cannot wait for my next appointment.

I haven’t had good experiences with past gynecologists until I met Dr Janine. She took the time (a lot of her time) to find out about me and what would suite me best in more aspects of my life then just the one. The whole team is warm and welcoming x she’s helped me very much and really is so lovely.

Dr Janine was the best gynea I have ever been to and I always highly recommend her to everyone. Her place is sooooo cozy and girly, I couldnt wait to go for my checkups. I mostly worked with Lara (her previous receptionist) and she was extremely helpful and always friendly! She is a perfectionist and takes her job very serious, though very down to earth and we enjoyed her sense of humour a lot. She is always punctual and you just know you are in good hands! She always made us feel welcome. She will always have a special place in my heart and I will always remember her. We were also pregnant together and she even put my baby before her own and always went the extra mile! She even insisted on delivering my baby even when she gave birth 10 days prior to my c-section! If that doesnt show her character, nothing will! We love you so much and are very gratefull for you! I hope Katja are doing well!

My baby girl was born in January 2019. I had the most wonderful experience with Dr Potgieter throughout my pregnancy all the way up to the delivery day,when she kept me calm and at ease when it turned to an emergency c-section. I highly recommend dr Potgieter.

I went to that doctor once and I didn t feel welcome at all I was transfering from another doctor who is her colleague and I clearly told her I had no problem with my previous dr only had an admin issue but this doctor took everything I said up the wrong way even my queries about my pregnancy despite me being extremely polite towards her and paying her close to 2000 rands for a first time consultation,its in the past now but I hope she will be more understanding towards her future patients

So, unless you are Afrikaans or fluent in the language, dont bother calling.***reply to Dr Potgieters response:Thank you for taking the time to respond to my comment. I appreciate that you took the time to listen to the voice message and we would both agree that it is quite long and a bit unfair to expect someone who doesnt understand to hold on and keep listening in anticipation for an English message thereafter. I do not know you personally to make any of the accusations you speak of and please note I only said that based on what was your preferred language of communication to your clients and prospective clients. I did not mean to cause hurtful feelings and I apologise for that was not my intention. Just as its not your intention to make me feel sidelined. I was expressing how I personally felt unaccomodated from the onset. You may not realize it but to me, that message felt directed to a particular audience that I automatically did not fit in. Consider how you would feel if the roles were reversed. Maybe in future it would be helpful to have a message right at the beginning that that states press 1 for Afrikaans and 2 for English for the benefit of people like me.Kind Regards

Dr Janine took me on as a late patient at 33 weeks without hesitating. I had an awful experience with my previous gynae and from the first moment I met Dr Potgieter she made me feel comfortable and at home. She made all the fears and worries I had disapper. She delivered my baby girl safely in the most relaxed environment. What a blessing you were to us Dr Janine! Best gynae ever!!

A more compassionate, caring Doctor I have yet to find. Dr Potgieter made me feel comfortable, listened to my concerns and managed to calm my nerves like a true professional. I went to a gynaecologist for the first time so I was very nervous. The receptionist was really welcoming and its makes the environment comfortable. Dr Janine took time to listen to my problems. The check up was really scary though. But I do recommended Dr Janine.

Dr Janine Potgieter is an Excellent Doctor !! She made me feel at ease from the beginning. She assisted me with both of my deliveries. Since my water broke at 22h00 on our farm 450km from Wilgers hospital, she has been constantly monitoring me: Maternity pains and progress on the road I recommend her with a reassuring heart. Due to her excellent service and her involvement with me, I also drove the 450km with my 2nd childbirth to be able to give birth with her.If you want an honest opinion Dr Janine is really the right person to visit.
