Took the dogs for a walk. Always a wonderful experience. The dogs are so excited.

Soul changing space with ethics at heart. I reccomend this to anyone who needs to share their time and remind themselves that life is truly better when love is abundant.

The ladies there are loving and kind and care with all there for the dogs there. The animals are soooo well treated and if I can give amy advise I would definitely donate and adopt you future baby from there.. thank you to the kindest staff I have eve met... love you for all your hard and loving work you do... ❤

The sweetest pepople with the sweetest animals! Went yo get my puply sterilized, so easy and i felt rested at heart leaving my pup in their hands. We then went to go see the other puppies and give then treats! The friendly staff helped is so quickly. Lovely place! And Im not even mentioning the cute donkeys!

Helpfull, friendly. The animals comes ALWAYS first. Nothing is to small or to big for them. They know what they are doing.

Wonderful place. Great to visit them over a weekend to walk and play with the dogs and visit their cattery. Animals are extremely well taken care of.

Went there today to adopt a dog we saw on their website. We were welcomed by Natalie and they were so helpful. Their Chief handler Noellie was excellent in doing the meet and greet and knew what he was doing. I was impressed by how organised and clean the premises are. We left adopting a dog. They run an excellent rescue centre. 5/5. Well done to all and the volunteers.

Not to be allowed to adopt a puppy unless signing a contract to engage on a 6 week training program with Woodrocks own allocated trainer, instead of our OWN dog behaviourist and trainer who does training sessions at OUR home and has worked with our own dogs and family for many years, is utterly disappointing and certainly NOT in the best interest of the puppy we were about to adopt after passing the home inspection test. I unfortunately cancelled the adoption of the pup Maggie, based on this inflexible approach.

Such kind and helpful staff. If you are looking for a pet, consider one of their animals who would love a new forever home.

I had no idea this animal rescue exists and I was pleasantly surprised, love, love, loved it and felt so privileged to be there to, the people are very friendly, found exactly what I was looking for, it was perfect match, highly recommend it!

If you need to adopt a fur baby, this is where you go to. They are doing an amazing job in rescuing those without a voice and finding them the right homes.

The Woodrock family works very hard to care for so many animals! We joined their first ever foster program during the lockdown. Support has been fantastic, and we have since decided to keep our wonderful foster doggo permanently. Happy Foster Failure! He has fitted into our lives so wonderfully and is loving his new life after nearly 4 years at the shelter. The staff and volunteers genuinely love and care for their animals as best they can. Adopt, dont shop!

Unreasonable and unrealistic expectations for adoption:Probably the most disingenuous group of people , pretending to care for animals. Be aware of their misrepresentation and unreasonable demand for all their dogs, regardless of size that must be kept in your house that is not disclosed up front. Whether an animal lover allows their dogs to live in their homes or in a free standing dog kennel, is a personal preference and has nothing to do with the care and well-being of the dogs, that have mostly been strays living in the streets and bad citcumstances.They make you pay R200 then reject the adoption because the big dog will not be kept in your house even though it was not a requirement and then keep the R200. Their unreasonable and to some extent cruel approach in denying a dog the opportunity to be adopted, loved and cared for in great circumstances, is unacceptable. We will stop adopting any animals, despite doing it for years and just support pet shops where you can buy a dog without having to deal with unreasonable and unrealistic rescue centre owners.

We need assistance with our two dogs as we are moving and can’t take them with. The response regarding email is short and rude without providing any guidance or quality answers. We are seriously busy sorry I hope your response to the animals are better.

Exceptional shelter, the animals are very well cared for, the staff are helpful and friendly with an unmistakable passion for their animals. Highly recommended you pay them a visit, open every day.

OMG just amazing! If you are looking for friendly, cool types of animals come here. I took a dog for a walk called Julie, so hyper and sweet! The cats tho!! So affectionate lol, they follow you all over the place and love cuddles. There are kittens and puppies there too that are just too precious!

Animals are well taken care of, but be sure to go over the EXTENSIVE forms with the owner before paying the inspection fee, or theyll take your money and reject your application after wasting your time. Not cool!!

Denied adoption because the big dog would sleep outside once its not a puppy anymore and my drive way is connected to my yard. Ive heard a lot of excuses in my life but thats by far the worst reason to prevent a dog from getting a good house. Will not support them in any way.

Woodrock do a great job at their shelter. What I liked is that the dogs run free. They are not shut away in cages during the day. One of the better shelters. They have their own clinic and hotel for animals for people wanting to leave their dogs there when they go on holiday. Well run by a dynamic married couple and their shaving staff. My children recently adopted Tyson now Titan from them. A sweet high energy puppy

The adoption process is not methodical or professional, lacks fairness and transparency, and seems driven by outdated ideas and gut feelings - not metrics, factors or information. If you question, they glaze over and say stuff that sounds like an answer, but isnt really. Adults applying for adoption should not be patronized, talked over or have what is right for them so forcefully prescribed. I applied to foster/adopt a dog, but was then pressured to rescind this for other potential owners they felt were a better fit, for reasons that were thin. They said I had ‘first option’ but then wouldn’t send me the forms necessary to finalise approval at my complex, so my ability to actually take the dog on was blocked. I was assured theyll find me the right dog but whats to stop them doing this again when I find a dog I like? Trust matters.Mystifyingly, they feel it unnecessary to perform a home check if you live in an apartment. Theyre simultaneously ‘picky’, but not thorough when gathering information. It feels they act on instinct, but don’t then validate with information.There are many pets waiting for a home and they are the ones losing out when potential owners are treated like this. Their popups are a genuine delight and heartwarming to see animals so loved by volunteers. The animals all look well cared for. My negative experience was largely due to a sole individual I had contact with during the adoption process, but at the heart of this organisation is a genuine love for animals. However, there are ways to merge passion and process.I felt other adopters should know what theyre getting into, seeing as Woodrock ignored this direct feedback from me.If you decide to try adopt here, be clear on what you want, insist on transparency and process, and stand your ground. Animals deserve respect, and so do humans.

Wonderful cat refuge, its all about the cats, ferals, sick ones, dumped ones, big, small, male ,female adoptable or not. Cute cabanas and enclosures where they live in comfort. Well worth a visit just to pet and socialise the cats there, so hopefully they can be adopted. 5star cat treatment and care. If you want a cat go and visit and choose.

Woodrock Animal Shelter is doing an amazing job. They are taking good care of their animals and make sure that each one goes to a good and safe home. We found a lovely puppy when we visited (after making an appointment) and were able to get him home within 4 days!
