World-class hidden gem with the most beautiful views.  Such an relaxed atmosphere. Hospitality and the staff made our stay so enjoyable. Compliments to the Chef.  The food is outstanding.

The 5star establishment lives up to its name,its like home away from home,the staff is always on hand to cater to any need you have without being instrusive;the stunning view just lets you breathing and forces you to pause. The rooms are immaculate and tidied twice a day. You find a hot water bottle tucked under your covers on those cold days,sleepers and gown laid out on the bed. Its truly a must must visit its a 2hour drive from King Shaka international Airport but I promise yoh its well worth the drive and the money youll spend while there!!!!!

I was not visiting to stay.. After a friend talked of this amazing place.. My partner and I decided to pass by for a day visit to have light lunch.. a white female guest, a table near us instructed us to put our phones on silent! To the disbelief.. we went to the manager to advise him of this and He casually offered to move us to another seat instead.. away from the white couple as if to say they had a right to instruct us so.. I have never been so dissatisfied nor shocked of this behaviour! Ill never recommend such place to anyone I know for such bad treatment!

We visited the place to celebrate our anniversary and we had an amazing time. There is no place that we have been before that we can compare to this one. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. The staff members were so warm, friendly and very helpful. They went beyond their call of duty to ensure that we were comfortable and enjoyed our stay. The food was out of this world, I will miss each and every dish they prepared for us. The rooms and dining area were unique and exceptional beautiful. I enjoyed their bath tub and outside shower. The views, ohh the views from our villa Lord I have no words to describe it. I can write a wonderful book about my experience at this place.Thank you to each and every team/staff member. You deserve more 5 stars.

My husband and I decided to treat ourselves to a mini break for a few days to celebrate Valentines this year. We do not regret choosing The Gorge Private Game Lodge for this trip.When we arrived at location we were met by two gentlemen at the car port, one carried our bags to our villa and the other welcomed us with a warm smile, called us by name and offered us chilled sparkling wine and cool hand towels. This set the tone for our stay. No request was too big, the staff go above and beyond for each guest. Our needs were anticipated and taken care of with such ease. When we left the room for dinner we would find the place neatened up, curtains drawn, fresh gowns and slippers on our beds as well as a small gift from the lodge.My husband had requested a romantic turn down on our first night which the staff executed beautifully, wonderful surprise for me.Theres no way to describe the food other than fine dining at its best, sumptuous meals in generous portions. The bar is also very well stocked.We also enjoyed the couples spa, restaurant and just sitting in the jacuzzi.We took a day for activities at the neighbouring Lake Eland.We made many wonderful memories in this place and look forward to going back some time in the near future.

I had a lovely time there. i will not say it all because people might not like to read. We were there to celebrate our birthday on the 12/06/19 with my now fiancee. The reception was wonderful, pictures were taken by the person who welcome us from the parking. the food was wonderful until we left. i asked them to help with my proposal to my wife to be. Man they did a wonderful job setting up the mood and everything. Babeyile I think that was my camera man working at the lodge unfortunately I do not have all the names but everyone was helpful. The Chef... Hats off for you. Ladies at the SPA we wonderful thank you Ladies. lastly as i was leaving i find out that my care was washed... THE GORGE IS A STAR , and you will receive a STAR TREATMENT...

The place is amazing, the villas are spacious and well furnished. The views from the rooms are to die for, the romantic picnic was very special. The staff at the Gorge were amazing they made sure we had a good stay and gave us best care.

My friend and I spent a weekend to celebrate her birthday,September 2018.From the moment we arrived at the security we were treated like royalty.We notified the Hotel of our possible late check in and that was well accepted.Getting into the parking lot we were ushered by two gentlemen who greeted us by names,that was very warm and we immediately felt at home.We went treated to sparkling champagne while our bags were checked into our room.We were then ushered in and had a brief orientation of the room.The mini bar has both complementary and for sale items.My friend was treated like a queen throughout the weekend.On Saturday morning they suprised her with cake and champagne and they nicely sang to her...Thank you.Their menu is out of this world...from breakfast, lunch and supper I could not fault anything.A normal fish and chips is served like its something from another planet.The room itself was very beautiful,modern decor and warm.House keeping is on point,kudos to the team.We were then treated to a complementary high tea on Saturday afternoon.I have a lot to say but would rather leave you to go and see for yourself.The Spa was super awesome,friendly and well experienced technician,i wanted to spend the whole weekend there.Check out was seamless,a bonus was to find our car washed and carpets placed on the door since it was drizzling.Lastly,can the hotel grading board please consider a 6 star rating?5 start is an underating for the George.I am definitely returning!!

Amazing view overlooking the gorge: 5/5. We stayed at one of the private villas..just breathtaking! large rooms / clean/ comfortable.Staff: 4.5/5. friendly / helpful. However they were not well informed about the details regarding the dinner menu.but the chef came and explained it pluss he gave us a tasting sample.Spa: 3/5. defiantly room for improvement and renovation is needed. Treatment rooms are small not that comfortable beds. I couldnt find a changing room or a shower. The treatment it self was OK.However I highly recommend this place. U will love it.

We regularly support the Gorge. The venue is breath-taking with amazing food. As a local there is talk that the service is not up to standards anymore which we have always overlooked.We checked in Saturday 14.07.18 for the night.We went to the Restuarant for lunch.1.We were seated and given 2 different menus.2. We ordered our starters and noticed we did not get what we ordered and the chef still told us there was no fish in the olive paste when we google it there was anchovy in the ingredients.3.The waiter had no clue about the menu (And we had two gentlemen serve us). The communication barrier with English was hard to explain our queries.4. We ordered our main (NOT 5 STAR)5. Desert was poor also and not explained properly again when asked. We realised there is no point to complain further as staff couldnt understand our questions.With great sadness and disappointment we got the bill and moved off to our accommodation. It was freezing cold weather and just right for a night out.We got to our accommodation and noticed :1. Sewage smell as we entered the room.2. Wanted to run a bath - no plug but we found it. A little bit of effort to attach the plug to the ball string could have been done (Sorry but my husband goes mad even in our home if this happens).3. My husband poured us a cherry and we noticed our snacks weren’t great as our nuts were quite stale and we only got two dried apricots and one prune to go with it. (AGAIN NOT 5 STAR)4. Room decor is beautiful with a great view but very sad to notice that one side of the wall by the air conditioner was half plastered and incomplete.My husband by now is irritated and has a bad taste in his mouth about everything and said we going home. He called reception to inform them we need to check out as we have an emergency on the farm (as we are local)My husband does NOT MAKE SCENES and we are local as mentioned. He just won’t go back!I felt I had to be honest as i always support the lodge for ladies Lunches and wanted to help them.I spoke to management and he was supportive admitting that the sewage problem OFTEN comes up in the shower. He apologized for all the other small pin points and agreed that is disappointing for a 5 star Lodge. My Husband and I were in the car when I spoke to Mike as we left the Gorge.He agreed and said it was unacceptable and that he will get back to me on Monday (16.07.18) and was appreciative of the phone call.Monday came and no feed back.Today Wednesday 18.07.18 Management Mike called and turned the tables and found all the pin points suspicious. I was utterly shocked to notice the arrogance and attitude from management.He admittedly said that he could of fixed the swage problem in 10min? I live on a small holding and have the same sewage system and know that it doesn’t get fixed that quick!With such disappointment we as guests did not make a scene about our complaints at the time of checkout at the lodge cause it was Fully Booked and didn’t want trouble but for Mike to retaliate at me and think that we were at fault when we were only giving constructive criticism I tend to now understand why friends of ours would prefer to not go there.Our telephonic call on the same day to management was appreciated about our bad experience (14.06.18) and today 18.06.18 they find it suspicious that we did not complain on the moment of checking out!!We paid R3000pp , its not about the money Im so disappointed how management has handled this matter and how rude and arrogant they are and not willing to solve the problem. We didn’t ever want out money back even thou our lunch on top of it was also R936.00.This is a beautiful venue and with great sadness I won’t be returning to the Gorge! Definitely not 5 star

This is 5 star from the moment you arrive. Attention to detail and little touches are what set The Gorge Private Game Lodge and Spa apart.We celebrated my husbands 50 birthday here and nothing was too much trouble.Preferences were asked about before hand ... thus the carrot cake 🤗 and personalised mini bars in the rooms.It was a cold day when we arrived so hot chocolate and a hot facecloth on arrival were welcomed.We started the celebrations with a bottle of Champagne in their magnificent bar area which has floor to ceiling glass allowing extensive views of the Gorge ... and even the vultures circling. The wine list is extensive.Then it was on to the Lunch cafe on the verandah overlooking the rim flow pool.Food was yummy and again an extensive wine list and nicely finished off with a magnificent Carrot Cake, generously decorated with fresh fruit, made especially by Lungi for the birthday boy! An eyepiece and a taste explosion.Then it was time to put the Spa to good use with full body massages the choice. The spa therapists were all outstanding ... I could have stayed there forever!Then there was only time to head back to our luxurious rooms and clean up for pre-dinner drinks and dinner.The crackling fire welcomed us to the lounge area for pre-dinner drinks before we were taken through to Catharinas on 15 for a sumptuous dinner. The name of the fine dining restaurant has been named in honour of the owner, Catharina, who has been instrumental in turning The Gorge into the Crown of the South Coast. 15 being the lot number of the farm the restaurant is on.Dinner was an absolute treat as one would expect from a top venue. Amuse bouche to start and sorbet palate cleansers between meals all add to the fine dining experience.Ports and cappuccinos taken in the lounge area to round off the evening before heading back to the rooms.The rooms are huge with everything that opens and shuts.Breakfast was in Catharinas. A wonderful selection of pastries and hot meals. Nothing is run of the mill and highly recommended.There is nothing negative to say about The Gorge ... but dont take my word for it ... go and experience it for yourself ... you will thank me.The staff are such an asset and the service is on a level not seen anywhere. Unobtrusive, friendly, warm - just awesome!Cars are washed before you head off, contemplating your next visit!

Over the weekend my fiancé and I had the pleasure of staying at the Gorge Private Game Lodge & Spa. From the moment we arrived we had one of their many friendly staff waiting for us with an umbrella and a warm welcoming smile. He greeted us with a smile and we were whisked to their reception area with on gentlemen who took our luggage to our room. The lady at reception was as friendly, we soon realized that every single staff member was super friendly and the level of respect and customer focus was out of this world. The room was amazing and had views that were breathe taking. It felt like we were the only guests in that lodge. I loved the décor it connects with the surrounding area it complemented and added to the whole experience.The food, oh the food. Three course meals with those palate cleanser in between  . The food was fresh and well prepared and the presentation was on point. The music and the whole them added to what was already a perfect holiday.Saturday breakfast surprise was awesome, the birthday boy was going on and on about how pleasantly surprised he was, by nature he is shy so that put him on the spot but he loved it. Saturday night we were un able to eat past the main course  I think we over indulge on the food and by Sunday we 5kgs heavier.I would recommend the Gorge Private Game Lodge & Spa to all my friends and anyone who is looking for something different, the bush experience, tranquility, high level of professionalism and great food .The management at the Gorge Private Game Lodge & Spa invested a lot on training and it shows through their friendly staff. Thulani and I will be visiting again soon.
