Rows outside so long.., once inside it was not bad, friendly and numbering system works good.Do take a Pen with you, as they dont have Pens (if you need to fill in some documents). For the smount of people they need a bigger office (building).Concern: There is no social distancing on the rows outside...big concern regarding the Covid regulations!!!!!!!!!!. Some law enforcement officials tried to enforce it, but did not succeed.

Welcome to the building with the coldest, rudest people on the South Coast. They will make you feel like they are doing you a favour just talking to you. There are terrible systems in place that do not comply with COVID regulations.

The actual process of renewing a passport and applying for a smart ID card is quick and efficient. The four and a half hours spent waiting to complete the process however, is due to the large volume of people moving through a small office. The staff are friendly and helpful.

What a pleasant experience. We started at Umgeni Road, which was awful. My husband had wasted tim in the wrong queue. No one even checks or cares. We then drove to Scottburgh office, where they were extremely unhelpful and only take 60 people. I phoned Port Shepstone, the only home office to answer their phone, they told me that they close at 6 and that we will be seen. Their service was so friendly. The staff were all very helpful. It was so organized. Will only ever go apply at Port Shepstone for all future applications. Thank you to the staff at Port Shepstone. You were great

Wife and me made use of additional hours to apply for passports today - completed within 50 minutes!Staff members, (working overtime for the school term rush) , were VERY friendly and patient, even with some difficult enquiries by public.Office clean and cool with aircons working full blast in summer heat![Can understand queues are long and hot during daytime, but thumbs up to staff doing sterling job] 👍👏PS. Note to DPW: The public of Port Shepstone (and staff of this office) require and deserve standby watertank and pump at this office for (unfortunately quite REGULAR🤔) water-supply interruptions in town, so that this office can provide UNINTERRUPTED Bato Pele- service to our community!

It was a long wait outside due to many people wanting to do smart IDs, but once you are in the staff are efficient and friendly. Photos took the longest. Staff professional in their uniforms. Building very clean and well equipped. The manager, Terry Kotzé, very helpful in answering emails. Thank you.

Having previously completed all of the application process, including biometrics and payment, I received a notice to collect my new ID and passport. Sounds good right? Not really. When collecting (even though there is no processing to complete) one is ordered into the mile-long queue that services all applicants! Despite the collection being a minor last step, one must sacrifice an unknown but lengthy part of the day in grinding up to the desk to be issued a number. This is ludicrous and underlines just how inept the management of this department is. Although some functions have improved, Home Affairs in Port Shepstone remains one of the most ineffective, unwieldy and badly run organizations in this area. Well, maybe UGU are worse but its a very close battle for last place. When these folks come to work and see this shambles, how do they feel comfortable drawing a salary? Sad huh?

Dont be fooled by DHA website in thinking completing your application online would be any faster. Still a 2-3 Hour wait with a counter being offline even if you have completed the bulk of the information online. What a waste of time. Its also been more than 10 days since lodgement and still no ID or notification

Worst service at Port Shepstone home affairs. Business hours on the door says 8am _ 4pm however a very rude person at the door tells us that 12 noon is not an appropriate time to come in. They wont be able to assist anyone without a ticket! Explained that we are working and he says make arrangement take off from work and come in early and follow the queue. Guess this is the new South Africa we living in...

I had endless issues with my passport, someone attempted to do an online application with my ID number and surname but incorrect initial etc. The friendly staff really tried but eventually said I should leave after a few hours had passed and they would try and follow up and give me a call morning. I walked out the room almost soul destroyed knowing that this is not going to happen. Nhabiseng, a lady in the front reception refused to let me leave without sorting out the issue. She made innumerable calls to Jhb trying to get head office officials to sort out the issue, others would not gone over and above considering how many people they have to deal with on a daily basis. Home affairs need more people like the ones at port shepstone. Nthabiseng....I can never thank you enough for all that youve done for me.

Worst experience I ever had for any Government Department. Have been here prior to Jan 2018 and the service was excellent. But since January 2018 the service is pathetic. We started queuing at 6 am just to be serviced by rude and unhelpful staff.
