I really like the concept of this restaurant, Nguni meat, modern African interior and music, but the food just wasnt that exciting for me, especially after reading the other reviews. The staff was great, service was excellent, although being asked by 3 people if we are enjoying the food straight after each other, is a bit much.We shared a boboti springroll starter which was nice but the spices could have been stronger.The steak was really tasty, although pink when ordering well done.My cold meats platter was edible but nothing exciting, had a similar platter 2days ago at Donegal wines and it was riveting, but the tastes here was flat,the best on the plate was the cumin flavoured beetroot!The cuppacino wasnt great, good coffee is a must. This place has amazing potential, but sadly the best of our dinner was the staff.

Food is ok but not outstanding. Had far better steaks and fish for same price.In addition it was not easy to get a table - not because it was fully booked, but because nobody answered the phone as well as no possibility to book online.Wouldn’t go there again.

Wow, best dinner we had in South Africa. Fantastic food, in perfection, great service, couldn’t ask for better.Recommendations from me, try the ostrich fillet in medium rare or the tuna steak.

Calm and relaxing, good food and reasonable prices

An old fishermans cottage built around 1850 converted into a cozy restuarant. Service is always good. I had the Tuna Steak, I would have liked it seared as asked for, instead of cooked through. My partner ordered the Fillet done medium, but it was presented rare. The other meal we ordered were the prawns, not cheap at R300. Over sauced and way to much garlic and certainly not as fresh as they should be. They were soft and fluffy in texture. Would I go back ? NO.

We went there on our one night stay in Plette, it was an excellent idea. The food was great and so was the presentation. The stuff was kind and attentive. Would recommend especially the ostrich fillet. Reasonable prices and lots of attention for the client and the presentation of the plates

Fabulous restaurant off Main Street in Plettenberg Bay. Right opposite there was an exhibition of African artifacts, art work and baskets galore. A must visit if you are in the area.

I would like to give 5 stars, but I cant.I love the place, its a very nice and cosy one.The stuff is superb, very charming and very interested. They always look after you.Its a very nice menu, there are various interesting dishes on it.But we had some trouble. The filet from the springbock wasnt tender but cooked well.The peri peri chicken was ok, but nothing special. They added to much lemon to all components which covered all other flavor, also the chilli for my understanding.So I think and hope they are a lot better and we were a litle but unlucky...

We had amazing meals of Ngunis fillet steak and one of ostrich steak. Served by our waiter called Robert who was very informative, helpful and extremely polite. Would certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Plettenberg Bay.

A really nice place to have a lovely and comfortable dinner - they really know how cooking works!We can highly recommend going there. We didn’t have a reservation ni we were lucky to get a table for two. If you wanna make sure to get a table, make a reservation!

We visited Nguni Restaurant very spontaneously, without having a reservation. Unfortunately, the restaurant was full. The manager was very nice though and asked us if we were willing to wait for a couple of minutes. We were and after a short waiting time he brought us to a free table.The food was very delicious and the service very good. Happy to have found this place.

This is not what I expect for the prices they charge. Steaks were bland, drinks overpriced, and no vegetables to be found. Staff was very nice, at least.

Three words - Campari Orange Cake. Simply phenomenal. Robert & his crew at Nguni are a great bunch of people with the best recommendations for a dinner service. We managed to order pretty much half the menu and each item was absolutely fantastic. I would definitely recommend the Tuna Carpaccio, Baby Chicken, Sirloin on the Bone & all the desserts - there is something in the menu for everyone. The wine selection was top drawer too & it was nice to see some local wines make their way into the list. Wish to visit Nguni again soon!

Hidden gem in the city!You go through a small door on a street of modern buildings and then you’re transported to a Mediterranean fishing/farm house. Sitting in the courtyard felt worlds away from the surroundings outside the restaurant.Top class food and service, the staff were very engaging and a joy to have around. We loved our meal here and were glad we were in Plettenberg so that we could enjoy it.

Lovely setting, food was nice, wait staff could definitely do with a bit more training and would be nice if there was background music. Lot of potential if improvements are made.

Best meal so far in South Africa! Steak and fish mains were beautifully cooked with lovey accompaniment. The cheesecake dessert was luscious, pillowy soft and creamy rich with fresh fruit to balance. Loved the wine selection and our wonderful waitron Patience. An excellent experience in a fashionable setting.

Very good restaurant. Ostrich was the best I had in SA. Also I very good wine menu. Higher price range in comparison to other restaurants in SA but definitely worth it.

During our road trip from Cape town to some of the towns around Garden Route, we found your foods were as great as those in Franschhoek.We are very happy to introduce Nguni Restaurant to everyone. The boss and the staffs are friendly, they serve us professionally even we are the only Asian customers which dont know much about the African fine dinning.In my opinion, this restaurant worth a Michelin recommendation.

The most disappointed restaurant in plettenberg.Its just looks like a fine dining restaurant but the food is not for a real foodis. the dishes that we ate were tasteless if Im being gentle.They dont even asked why we bring back half plates. This restaurant is also more expensive then others so that makes it even more disappointing because you expect for higher standard.there is a lot of really good restaurant in this town so if you want good meal you can find. it at Fat fish / Zinzi/ Emili moon and more..The manager of this place didnt gave us a feeling that he cars about the situation and just put the blame on the nice waitresses.First time that Im writing bad review over a restaurant :(

Weve had dinner there and it was just amazing! The staff is super friendly, the service is great and the food is just delicious. Ive had the fillet steak, it was super tender and perfectly medium rare as ordered. My boyfriend had springbock steak which was perfect as well. Wine, starters and dessert were also really, really good. Big thanks to our waitress, Patience, it was a wonderful last evening here in Plett!

One of the best restaurants on our whole trip! We stayed 3 nights in Plett and went all 3 evenings for dinner to Nguni. That was unique on our trip. But it was all so perfect that we said it wont be better somewhere else. The beet root salad is so delicious that I had it as first course on every of all 3 evenings. The main course changed between filet and fish and back to filet. I had the special cheese cake as a dessert and couldnt decide for something else on the other 2 days. It was just to good. But Ive tried the dessert of my boyfriend and it was excellent too.Besides the food, the location is so lovely. If I would have a restaurant I would decorate it exactly the same. Cozy, stylish, traditional ... unique.And the staff, all were so friendly and they really know what they do. It is not just serving food. They all do their best to make your visit special.
