Gracious hospitality from the owners as well as all staff members. We enjoyed a lovely overnight stay in the beautiful guest house that breathes character, luxury and the warmest of welcome. No need to dress up as we could simply relax and enjoy our dinner, served in front of the huge fireplace. Thank you for this amazing house we could call home for a night Pierre and Deb!

Great food - they have a large tapas menu, with other main meals and starters. Good atmosphere - well decorated with a lot of interesting art. Staff is very friendly. A little bit expensive for Oudtshoorn, even by Gauteng or Cape Towns standards. But overall a good experience.

We met the owner Piere , he made us feel at home in an instant. Jemima s is an experience on its own. Melita is a staff member that makes you feel special and cared for. She is a ray of light. Oooh what a delightful surprise and gem. Very friendly staff, and the host was hilarious throughout the evening with her short cultural but natural jokes. Love that they had 2 fireplaces. Great food.

Supper @ Jemimas was good. Had bobotie as mains and it was beautifully presented. Options of seating indoors or outdoors. Menu restricted currently due to the pandemic. Staff very friendly and service is prompt. Hope they can weather the doldrums, Wednesday evening and 3 tables occupied.

I so badly wanted to love this beautiful restaurant. It truly has loads of charm. The service was friendly and efficient. But… the kitchen does a massive disservice to the customers. I asked if they have earl grey tea and received ceylon. I ordered a Moroccan breakfast that listed goat’s cheese as an ingredient but sadly was not part of the dish. It would have paired beautifully and offset the spicy tomato relish sauce. The poached eggs were also way overcooked when a medium was ordered. Such a disappointment.

Jemima’s is lovely restaurant with beautiful decor and relaxed environment. The food menus are extensive and the food is well presented. This is a family restaurant, couples and even a good place to stop off on your own. All ages and sitting areas with different atmosphere. There is an outdoor area where it is cool.. well as cool as Oudtshoorn can be😀 and the area is quiet. A good stop off point for travellers. Thanks Jemima’s!

Excellent restaurant in the heart of Oudtshoorn. We have had dinner here many times over the years and the quality and service is always of the highest standard.We had duck liver parfait and beef carpaccio as starters and chicken couscous and beef fillet as mains. All were prepared to perfection.The staff are very experienced and always friendly which adds to a great experience.The restaurant itself is an old country home which has been redone and converted with modern touches and a beautiful garden.This is a must for anyone visiting Oudtshoorn.The owner has recently built a boutique guest house on the property which we would highly recommend checking out - The Bright House.

We walked into Jemimas late in the evening following the suggestion of our BnB host. We were pleasantly surprised to find such an excellent restaurant in such a small town. Our choices of a classic (Duck Confit) and various local game fares (Ostrich Carpaccio and Kudu and Ostrick Medallions) were all excellent adn beautifully presented. The service was also excellent, being timely, courteous and professional. For all visitors to the area, this is one place to not miss,

While treating our grandmother for lunch, we experienced the red-carpet treatment from the Jemima team! Helping hands with getting up the small step, placing our table closer to the cozy fireplace and even small lap blankets to make sure were comfortable.In addition to the cozy and artistic vibe, the food was AMAZING to put it lightly. The beef and ostrich fillets were mouthwatering soft and delicious with the accompanied sauces. In addition, I was surprised by how yummy breadpudding can be.All in all - a definite GEM!

Overpriced for what you get. Steak was not the best cut, and for 260 buks for 300g of steak, it needed to be good. Chicken paste also average.

Food and service were excellent !Unfortunately the floor space has a few dangerous steps without warnings, which is very dangerous for the elderly and disabled. One of my guests had a very bad fall, which lead to 4 stitches in a head wound and a terrible fright.

Simply excellent, starting with the food. The restaurant offer different dishes typical from the region which taste as good as they look. The interiors of the restaurant and lovely and the attention of the personnel is excellent as well. For example our waiter Riaan gave us a map and some advice about sights to see and things to do around the region.

This is a very good restaurant with extremely nice stuffs. The wine is fantastic. We had the ostrich carpaccio, hake fish and the Apple tarte with cinnamon ice, everything was super delicious! The Ambiente is romantic in a beautiful garden.

Well... maybe i was a little bit unlucky with my dish choice if not, i cant understand the good rating of this restaurant. Service was great, owner was great. No complaints. But the food was an disappointment. I ordered the Duo lamb Karoo. My dish looked nice, but was tiny. Its stated on the menu that you can choose a side dish. I was told its fixed and comes with the maindish. What i received was one thin layer of potato gratin under my lamb. (Very hard to spot. See picture) For R240 i expect a little bit more. I ordered an extra potato gratin as a side, which was also tiny and added another R40 to the bill. The two lamb chops where tasty but only about 30g each. The pulled lamb had a strong taste, like when meat or preparation is not good. had better.. The couscous salad of my girlfriend lagged a little taste, was also the size of a starter but quite okay. I would recommend the owner to check out the black swan. Similar pretty designed dishes but you dont leave hungry and prices are down to earth.

We was very disappointed. Nice setting, friendly waiter. But my husband’s lamb shank was absolutely frozen inside! Then they just disappeared with it in the kitchen and come back with the plate with the same shank bone separate, meat separate on the plate. Sorry, in our opinion this is not how you handle it. Also I had avocado burger, it had no sous it is just patty, avo, bun and soggy bacon and very very mushy potato chips. Big disappointment .

Lovely food served by a friendly and efficient waitron. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is most impressive.

I used to go here. They looked funky and up market, with a kind of Cool Joburg style. They had great cranberry Cocktails........then they had a makeover and now they are a trailer trash abomination from the formica-chaired Pits of Hell.The only thing I can take a pic of is the Sign....the rest is a Blight on Civilization that causes me mental anguish and stomach trouble.

We were recommended to eat here but unfortunately it was fully booked. We still want to give the place a great review because the owner was trying to fit us in but we couldnt wait so he told us 2 alternatives and how to find them and on our way back he asked us how we had got on and how our food was at the alternative restaurant. This kind of service and the busy restaurant has to count for a lot in our book

Ordered the chicken fillet for R120 and the portion size was way too small. I doubt that it was even 100 grams. It looked ridiculous. The food didnt taste bad though.

Waitress got our order wrong, we waited over an hour for the food, the steak was the worst we’ve tasted in a while-I think we could’ve eaten better at Spur. The chef was outside chatting the whole night instead of overseeing what’s happening in the kitchen. When we wanted to pay our bill they ran out of paper for the card machine and insisted that the payment didn’t go through the first time, they tried again... only to realize that we’ve paid for our food twice now. After a struggle we’ve received our money back.Moral of the story. Far overpriced and overrated, food is but average. There’s many more better restaurants in Oudtshoorn to go to.

Disappointing!Like the new look in terms of decor. But the mussel light meal consisted of only 5 tiny mussels, and the main course sole was raw whilst the duck was bone dry. The ricotta and the consolation fillet was good, though.Waiter John was great.

We had burgers. They were on special at R99. They were expensive even at that price. I would be unhappy if I got that small a burger for the regular price of R130.The pulled venison burgers were tasty but COLD! Cold meat inside a burger is not nice.Nice atmosphere and pleasant waitress.

Very nice place and food. The tomatoes (karoo caprese) were the sweetest ones Ive had. The meat was just great. And most important, the staff was very dedicated.

Amazing food built on traditional ideas but taken to the next level and beyond.One specific dish, the Karoo Lamb burger comes to mind.Prices are slightly above average but absolutely worth the price and much more.The layout is fairly fragmented which makes it cozy and ideal for couples or small groups but there is space for larger groups too.An absolute must-do when in Oudtshoorn!

What a great find, we didnt book which narrowed our table options, fortunately we got a table we would have picked anyway. The dukka encrusted Ostrich was to die for and we followed that with the tapas and it was more than we could eat. The wine choice was comprehensive all though they are out of pinotage at the moment. It was memorable for all the right reasons 😁
