Nice guest house with great facilities and a nice swimming pool. Staff is very friendly and the rooms are just perfect. At night you can enjoy a good ostrich steak in the stylish dinner room of the hotel. In the morning you can join the owner at a trip around the local ostrich farm. The trip was quite informative, but not very spectacular. Moreover, there is not much to do in the direct neighborhood. So, if you stay here one night and the main reason for your stay are the ostriches, then I would suggest you visit an ostrich farm on the first day, so that you can continue your journey right after breakfast on the next day. Overall, we had a good relaxing time here.

Experience I will never forget.Booked myself and two teenagers of which one was my daughter ,it was her birthday.As it was my 1st time visiting Oudtshoon I got lost and twas very late nd dark.The owner and staff phoned all the way to check if we still ok.Super clean rooms nd very cozy.....the breakfast beautifully laid .The pool nd garden also an extra tick.How can I forget the surprise birthday cup cakes for my daughter.....staff have very warm personality.

I booked a double bed.Got in the room and it was 2 single beds.Asked the person that showed us the room and they said it was the only room Available.On the booking site it confirms the room has TV and Satellite (dstv). Tv in room did not work and they confirmed that no Room has working tvWifi in the rooms also dont work.Got a refund and went to different place.

We attended an 80th birthday party in the old skuur. Cleverly restored, with beautiful chandeliers to set the scene.A table full of the most amazing pastries and sweets awaited us, all beautifully created, elegantly presented and deeply savoured.

Fantastic rooms ! The bathroom was breathtakingly beautiful ! The best Ive ever seen. This hotel was built in 1902. These people have real good taste. It reflects in everything. Breakfast was also very good ! Very good hotel. The best !

It was like stepping back in time to a world gone by. So calming, such an amazing energy. The rooms were immaculate, the food fabulous and the service outstanding. I cannot fault it.

We only had one night at the hotel. The rooms are very nice with a good old African charme.We had a warm welcome with some wine.Dinner was good, but not much of a selection for vegetarians or vegans.We also booked a treatment at the spa. Which was good, but not very good. Even though we mentioned that we had back pains and we were said that they would take care of that the massage was more like stroking than pain relieve.

Absolutely wonderful place. We were basically passing through but were so pleasantly surprised we delayed our departure. Rooms are huge and extremely comfortable. But the best thing was the food! Most delish ostrich we have ever eaten combined with a wonderful choice of healthy vegetables. The breakfast was fantastic too. Highly recommended.

Lovely boutique hotel in a Victorian setting decorated with antique furnitures. The rooms are very spacious and each one is unique. Staff are very friendly. Be sure to spend some time for a morning walk under the trees. You could see sun birds on the Jacaranda tree and weaving birds on the trees by the pool side.

Large rooms, beautiful setting and Nice people. We were passing through, so Im not sure what you can do there (next to walking). The rooms have no numbers, they have names, such as Stumps, Silver Floss or Albino. So, quite original. Dinner and breakfast were good and tasty.

Might be one of the best accommodation I’ve ever stayed at, the lodges were furnished in a Victorian style, there’s a maniacal attention for details and I very much appreciated it. The breakfast was great as well. Helpful staff would definitely come back

Ostrich farm. Fabulous looking place with very helpful staff. Could do with a bit of TLC. Blind on door didnt work properly, fancy China cups supplied in room but one was chipped. Toilet seat wouldnt stay up. Note it is 14k out of town.

We were invited to a wedding at la Plume and decided to extend it to a mini break. Words would not do justice but heres my best attempt at a review.We were met by Victorian opulence, silverware, Bone China cups, cut crystal classes and a welcome port in the room. The rusks in the room were replaced (you need to try one, it literally tastes like more) daily. The bed linen were crisp white and a bed big enough to drown the worlds sorrows.The staff were very friendly and helpful. Jenine helped each day with directions or advice on things to do and places to go and the rest of the staff greeted us with friendly faces and always asked how they can assist to make our stay memorable. They made you feel as if you are the only guest and their main reason for existence.We had one of the luxury rooms which were spacious and airy. The bathrooms were modern; without losing its vintage charm. The big bath in the middle of the room, with the fragrant bath salts and the shower with the copper and gold trimmings made bath time a royal treat.A stay at la Plume would not be complete without enjoying their three course dinner. Based on previous reviews we tried the Ostrich. The whole meal was a tastebud sensation.They recently added a spa to the establishment. If you are carrying the world on your shoulders, this is the perfect place to treat those weary muscles or rekindle the romance in their couples treatment room. After the treatment were were spoiled with some bubbly.The wedding was a true vision. The artistic tables, mouthwatering food and the attention to little detail everywhere is what set la Plume apart from other venues. What further amazed me was how hands on the owner (Karin) was in each part of the day, even brewing a new pot of Coffee extremely late in the evening for the Grooms Mother.To Karin and her team, thank you for making an amazing experience UNFORGETTABLE.

The stay was good, the bathroom was very cold, it had not hearing and no slippers were provided by the guesthouse.

We stayed at La Plume in the middle of January 2015. The rooms were very beautiful, to a high detail, and very clean. The food was delicious and we were made very welcome. Highly recommended.

Luxurious Karoo-style accommodation, tasty breakfasts and dinners served, enjoyed the lamb chops and panoramic views over Karoo landscape with Swartberg mountains in the distance. A good base to explore Calitzdorp, Oudtshoorn and Cango areas from. Recommended.

Including all my international trips..this was without a doubt the winner..the rooms were immaculate,the finest linen and excellent bed..the attention to detail was phenomenonal.IN the morning after an excellent breakfast ww found that our dusty car had been washed without even asking! Accommodation was good, food was excellent but the Dinner was a bit expansive.

Did not find this a very friendly or welcoming holiday stay, but it was immaculately presented. It was close to a road was busy in the mornings with large trucks (which they said was unusual). In fairness the he staff did try hard to fix things which were the fault of our travel agent, but it felt a little like we went back to 1954 and it was not really to my familys liking, (got the impression my family was not to their liking either)Think this retreat would best suit the older traveler who was less worried about their 8 year old playing with the antiques, or perhaps someone fascinated by Ostriches.Sneaked off to KFC on second night for light relief, but didnt tell the commandant.
