Beautiful stunning place. The tents were amazing, something totally different. Very clean. Hippopotamus just beneath our eating place. Game drives exciting , massages was soooo relaxing, and of course, the beautiful elephants. Staff very nice and friendly, apart from a few double bookings at reception, definitely a must see

Accommodation was stunning. The addition of electric blankets in our luxurious tent for winter was a treat. All staff and guides were helpful and friendly and went out of their way for us. The game drive exceeded expectations and the restaurant had excellent food.It was an awesome experience.

What a amazing breakaway at Buffelsdrift Game Lodge. Friendly and warm atmosphere with the best staff that I have ever experienced. The peaceful luxury tents with views of wildlife on your doorstep. What stood out was the well presented food, warm and delicious. With only room service available due to covid restrictions it was a delight to have the best meals prepared fresh and with so much detail THANK YOU. Extremely friendly staff at entrance gate, willing to answer all of our questions with a smile. We went to have a cup of coffee at the restaurant, it was strong and tasty. You can see Hippos, a few small buck as well as Elephants if you are lucky!Only issue was with regards to Covid safety, most of the customers were not wearing masks or practicing social distancing, this made me extremely uncomfortable.

We were just a day visit, my wife had a full body massage at the spa, the price was reasonable and the massage was very good. We had something light to eat, were a family of 4. I found the food prices too high, but the food and service was good.

A have to visit when in oudshoorn, from being picked up at your parking spot to departure,Bush safaris and the most amazing elephant encounter,food was superb and staff fun,hippos in the dam and wild bucks walking in between tented living,tents with baths and outside shower,plz do go and relax at the spa and disconnect from everyday stress to a wildlife experience, words can not describe the freedom and relaxation, its a grand experience, thank you @buffelsdrift,amazing!!!

You dont necessarily have to spend the night here. Dropping in for sunset after a visit to the Kangoo Caves is also fun. The wine list is very good and the food is extremely tasty and lovingly prepared. And yes - the hippos have also stopped by and said hello...

Restaurant service during breakfast not great. Food was well prepared, coffee terrible. We did the Elephant experience after breakfast which was absolutely amazing. The handlers were great with the animals. Interacted with the younger kids very well. They have great knowledge of the animals and was more than capable to answer all the questions about the animals and environment that were asked. Overall a must if you are in the area.

This was one of those lodges that once stayed here are hard to forget. The rooms consist of make-shift tents with an enclosed but attached outer shower. It has some wonderful views like elephants, hippos and turtles wandering the surroundings. Make sure to close your tent in the evening to be sure though. Breakfast and dinner was very good. Staff was welcoming.

Had an amazing lunch here. Friendly staff, super quick service, wonderful food, great view and huge portions. Would highly recommend it. We will be back.....

What a big surprise, this lodge exceeded all my expectations, friendly staff, super tent accomodation with comfy bed and a bath to drown in with a view so pretty over the dam, hear the hippos talking during the night under the open starry sky, felt so previleged to enjoy the stay with Buffelsdrift.. you can also try it out....just do it...bh

The staff was friendly, one request is for the team to service their cars. We stopped to see the giraffes and the car had trouble starting thereafter, otherwise it was great and beautiful.

We had a lovely breakfast with a spectacular view! We could watch the hippos yawn and the geese torpedoed over us! Meeting the 3 elephants was a highlight that our whole family will cherish forever!

This place is so underrated. The food is magnificent, breathtaking views overlooking a dam and super knowledgeable staff. Did the sunrise meerkat safari and the ranger made sure we circled to all the various spots, took her time to educate us on all their behaviours and was super nice. I hope to come back once the new babies are born.

Disclaimer: we only had lunch here so based on restaurant alone.Absolutely lovely experience! The chicken wrap was so tasty, however the ostrich fillet salad was very chewy, wouldn’t recommend.The view and service is incredible! Watching elephants while you eat is amazing.

Lodge itself is good. Beautiful and calm, with some animals moving between the guests. Game drive was excellent.Tented cabins are nice, however, there were a plethora of old cobwebs in the room. Not only in the ceiling space, but in the bedside table, over the light switches, by the windows etc. Rooms cannot lock, which is problematic if you have valuables, such as a laptop, which cannot fit inside the small safe provided - as we were using laptops regularly, it was burdensome to ask reception to keep it.On-site restaurant was not as nice. Very inattentive staff (except for one waiter, Marlin? who was very good). Food was average. Noting bad, but nothing great either. Best thing we ate was the fresh roosterbrood (which was complementary).

Ever since we’ve booked our flight to South Africa I’ve dreamt of going to a place like this. After hours of research we decided that Buffelsdrift Game Lodge was the perfect place that gathered all the beautiful animals that we wanted to see. We mostly came for the elephants and giraffes but were completely blown away by all the different species of antelopes, meerkats, zebras, buffalos, hippos and so many others.It was an unforgettable experience to sleep in a tent surrounded by all these amazing creatures. And you cannot even imagine what a tent with zipped up windows, a king size bed and a tub with a view to their lake where you would see the hippos and elephants enjoying the warm water. The food was absolutely delicious, best we’ve had there and the portions were huge. It is truly a magical experience and I recommend you all visit this resort at least once in a lifetime.

Absolutely nothing wrong with this lodge. We had a lovely lunch watching the wild life from the raised deck looking over the dam. We saw hippos, buck which came literally 5m away. I must visit if you are in the area or driving past. Will be back again soon for a longer stay.

Came to have lunch and maybe a ride on an elephant. Was also considering a stay sometime soon.But useless service, in fact no service in the restaurant made us give up after 30 minutes.I tried to shout to staff behind bar area, I could hear them laughing, but somehow they could not hear me???Very, very poor.

We had a Sunday lunch at the lodge. The food was well presented. They local delicacies such as Ostrich fillet and Venison baboeti. The chocolate lava desert was amazing, just pricy.

Our waitress was superb,the food excellent and the setting with log fire perfect.If I was to be critical,we did not get an ice bucket with the wine,but this was minor compared to a wonderful experience.We were a part of 5,with various food options,and all perfectly prepared.

Always a relaxed safari like feeling. I again met one of the owners and they really are doing sterling work expanding their wildlife and footprint. The food is good and the deck with its view always have something interisting te observe. Love this place. Wish it was a little more affordable, specially for South Africans still having to travel from Cape Town to experience the unique wildlife. The luxury tented accomodation..... superb. All and all, a great experience. My favourite is Malyka..... if I have the spelling correct. She has such a lovely personality. And yes, eliphant do remember well.

I would not recomment the breakfast. The lunch and dinners are amazing. Love thr burger that they make. Great view and helpful waiter. This is just a hot area in South Africa so plan ahead before going. The dam is a bit empty due to the little rain that Oudtshoorn received. Couple of activities to do with the family

The elephant experience was nothing short of amazing! Truly a must see! The rangers who took us on the tour were so helpful and informative. Their bond with the elephants made our time really special. Would definitely recommend this once in a lifetime experience!

Great wildlife experiences only 5 hours away from cape Town. Lovely restaurant with view across a hippo filled dam. Well worth it for young and old.

What an amazing adventure!We stayed for the weekend and I honestly wish it was longer. From the minute we arrived, we were treated to spectacular service and amazing views.A special thank you to Kathy and Russell, our guides for the majority of our trip.Russell drove us to our tent on our first day, helped us with our bags, saved us from the rain in the middle of our trip and gave us an awesome Bush Safari on our last day. He is extremely knowledgeable and a great conversationalist. Kept up our spirits on our Bush Safari when we didnt see many animals in the beginning and then they all just started popping up! Must be the positive energy he was spewing 👌Love that I got to see the giraffe (my main goal), zebras and a whole bunch of different antelope.Kathy, what a pleasure it was to meet her. Super friendly, always has a fact to share and clearly loves her job. Our meercat experience was very cute, the little guy was a bit shy but a good time nonetheless. Lion feeding was exciting! Sofia remains my favorite with her calm and collected attitude🦁To the guys that handled the elephants, a huge applause goes out to your bravery of handling them so well and giving us a fantastic encounter with the gentle giants.The accommodation was just a huge bonus to the whole experience, large and clean. The outside shower was a delightful surprise and the bath with that view over the dam! Wow! 🛀🌅Thank you to the house service as well, friendly and always made sure we had clean towels and a neatly made bed🛌.Dont even get me started on the food🤤 Never had Ostrish fillet before and Im 100% regretting that I didnt try it sooner. Beautifully made desserts with mouth watering flavors to match. Do yourself the favor and have the Decadent Chocolate Valcano, to die for!Thank you once again to everyone involved in making the weekend a memorable one.

Last minute spur of the moment booking and wow was I glad that I spent my birthday here!! Tents are luxurious and the food was devine. Sundowners on the deck watching hippos and buck was just what was needed to reset and start my new year. Loved the outdoor shower! Customer service alone is 5*

Ive been here a few times now to feed the Elephants with my visitors as Im based in Hartenbos. What am amazing humane way they treat their animals. There are only 3 but they have raised them since babies. I highly recommend this experience.

It was breath taking to walk into a world of new adventure, cool breeze, due to trees and the dam. Seeing animals, being more chilled than the actual guests. Lol😁Dont let me start on the food.. The chefs know thr way around cooking indeed. The ambiance, like ur heart is smiling and u seeing everything through the eyes of a child.. I will definitely go thr again.Too service indeed.. 😊

Absolutely loved our stay at Buffelsdrift Game Lodge.Accomodation, food, Spa and staff were amazing.Game drives and elephant experience were unforgettable.

We stopped for an afternoon drink here so cannot really comment on the restaurant or accommodation but the setting is beautiful and I would love to stay here sometime as I expect the sunsets overlooking the dam would be awesome. It was very hot the day we stopped - 35 degrees - and truly felt as if we were in the Bushveld... That simmering heat when even the birds were lathargic.
