The walk is amazing. It took the 3 of us 4 HR 20 mins to complete the approx 14.5 Km walk. The views are amazing and the little beaches that you find is stunning. The only problem with the walk from The point to Dana Bay is the trail isnt marked very clearly. We did walk a few paths that was definitely not part of the trail. Early morning start for the walk. Take water and something to eat. You could stop at the Pinnacle Point Golf club house for a coffee if you want.
A little part of heaven! This trail is running along one of the most picturesque parts of South Africa. Pinnacle Point is not only renowned for its caves “known as the archeological site of the earliest artifacts of modern human beings” but also for its Golf Estate and home development which had one various awards over time. We often visited and walking the trail from the one end of the estate all the way to the other end is a exhilarating experience. It is so beautiful. The trail is kept in good condition by the Estate and offers magnificent views over the Atlantic ocean. It is not difficult but I think a modern level of fitness is necessary. Walking or running this trail is also quite safe especially the section crossing Pinnacle Point Estate. There is security checkpoints at both ends of the trail where it enters and exit the estate. From PP you can also carry on with the trail all the way to Danabaai on the one side, or to Mosselbaai on the other side. We had some great whale sightings during the whale season and uf you are a bird watcher do take your binoculars with you.
The most beautiful trail ever, I am regularly running this trail, from the Pinacle Point Security point to the Clubhouse/Danabay, very ragged at start, become more easy towards Danabay, very safe part of the route, from Mosselbay point to the Pinacle point security checkpoint dont try it alone, and be prepaired with pepper gas.
We walked the St Blaze hiking trail from Dana Bay to Mosselbay. I highly recommend walking it that way around, since Dana Bay has lots of sand dunes which consumes quite a bit of your energy. We saw a minimum of 100 dolphines alongside the coast of Dana Bay just after 6am the morning we walked. It was a big plus point. There were times we werent sure where to walk, especially around the Pinacle Point area. Very enjoyable walk, but it gets quite long.
Its a beautiful trail. Easy and the scenery was spectacular. Unfortunately by arrival at Pinnacle point check point, they asked us to fill in a form. No problem. Then the guy asked us if we are going to Dana Bay. We said no, we are only doing the half way trail, till Pinnacle Point Hotel and then turn back to the light house where our car was parked. Immediately the guard said he cant allow us to do that. We ask him what is the difference if we walk all the way to Dana Bay and back or just halfway. He said we are not allowed to walk around in Pinnacle point. We said we are not going to the Hotel. Firstly we are not dressed for a Hotel and we dont want to go up the stairs but no go. So we had to turn around. This was a real downer for me and my wife.
Loved it. The scenic route is everything. Would definitely do it again. Just like any other hiking trail, its advisable to go as a group of 4 or more. Its safer and more fun that way. Pack some water and a good camera.
Beautiful views. Great trail
Breathtaking views but be mindful of safety in numbers on the route.!!!
Good clean hike. Please dont dalk alone
Beautiful walk, but need to be agile enough to handle a slightly uneven and rocky path for almost 3km.
Best course in south Africa I would say😍
Do it! Takes about 3 hours to walk from the light house to pinnacle point, then stop for a coffee/ drink etc at the country club. Its worth the stop on a road trip
