We just arrived back from dining at Burlesque Café. What a lovely experience!! It is a tiny but very quaint restaurant. Our hostess was friendly and very helpful. The restaurant and restroom was clean and interestingly decorated. We had the Goulash Soup for starters. Wow!! It was SO DELICIOUS that I could have had it for mains as well. The portions are also plentiful. For our mains we had the De-boned Eisbein with fried potatoes, mushrooms, onions and peppers and a side of Sauerkraut. That was very tasty as well. The homemade mustard is so good I wish I could have bought some.

This under new management and is now called La Scalli. I loved Burlesque Cafe and hoped the new place would be the same. I am happy to say it is and maybe even better. I have been there twice now so far and I must say:The food is amazing. The hake thermador is an especially great meal. All the meals have been excellent so far. Great atmosphere, brilliant service. Definitely would recommend it.

Sadly we went out of season, when the crowds are thin and the ambience is low. But the foundation promises a quaint atmosphere for the seasonal guests, with a lovely and informative hostess to provide you with all the tips and directions you need.

I eventually got the chance to go and I was definitely not disappointed. The hosts are great people and a good laugh. The menu is varied and I think anybody could find something that will make them happy and more than satisfy the tastebuds. From French and German dishes all the way to pastas and burgers. DEFINITELY give it a try.

Awesome lil seaside bistro. Had the pork belly with sauerkraut and German style fried potatoes. Was delicious, pork belly properly crispy without drying out the meat and the fried potatoes are proper. Washed it all down with a Weiss beer.

A group of friends spent a most unexpected pleasant visit to the Burlesque Café in Ramsgate/Margate yesterday.Small but intimate, with a feeling of being in the France of the time! Staff most welcoming, intelligent and warm. Though the food took a little while to arrive, we were in no hurry as we were warned that each plate of food would be prepared on demand. What a surprise, we would like to have congratulated the chef himself, as the plate as well as the food was hot, well presented, deliciously seasoned, without the components of the meal being overwhelmed. We all ordered different meals, and they were served exactly as requested - not often in these days of fast foods and high turnovers.A welcome and pleasant surprise in a little bistro tucked away almost unnoticed, but worth a return visit and recommendation!Michelle

What a disappointment! We had my daughters Hen party with 15 friends at Burlesque Cafe on 7 April 2016. Most of the guests travelled from overseas. The theme was supposed to be High Tea but it was more like Low budget. I was so embarrassed when the waitress plonked the food on the table. The top layer had a pile of low budget mass produced dry square biscuits. The next layer had Strawberries dipped in white chocolate, which were not that bad tasting compared to the rest, and the last layer had pecan nut pie which was purchased from the local superette and so soggy we couldnt lift the slices off the serving platter without having half of it stay behind and the other half landing on the table. The scones were enormous and did not taste that good either. Probably also from the local superette. The crudely made salmon sandwiches did not look appetizing at all and had big whole capers in them that created a salt bomb in your mouth. The enormous bowls of fish and mayonnaise dip with limp crudely made toast soldiers was less than appetizing. The prawns were in fact shrimp on kebab sticks with tinned orange segments. I had to send them back because they were still raw and there was sand on them. Shame on you for serving a bunch of classy ladies such poor quality food. Sadly I can not recommend this cafe at all and will never set foot in it again. They clearly do not have any idea of what High Tea is.
