Great little pub, good food.

Service is lacking a bit.Ordered cappuccino got a regular black coffee.Ordered my eggs over easy and they were raw.Waitress brought us toast and it fell all over me.Major improvements needed.However there is potential.

Took my sister frm Alice for few drinks

I ordered the bacon and spinach pizza as well as the butternut and chorizo pizza for delivery. The delivery was on time but the bacon and spinach pizza was raw with a raw egg in the middle so we could only eat 3 slices of the 23cm pizza. The chorizo and butternut pizza had exactly 5 pieces of very small chorizo and an abundance of very soggy butternut, the pizza was gross.

The meat is glosby (tough) and in general food is not well prepared. They also do not serve hot beverages

Dominated by the student population so the vibe might not be for everyone

Ordered a pizza at 19:19. It’s 20:44 now and I’m yet to receive my order.

Poor service . Limited vegan options and the manager is condescending and unhelpful.

Rat & Parrot in Makhanda, formerly known as Grahamstown.I went there for a bite after a long day on the road, the air and a 4hr meeting.I like their menu but I was expecting more fish dishes because it is pretty close to the ocean. Bite me. The few fish dishes they have are more expensive than in Pretoria.I ordered Chili corn carne with chips, cheese and avocado. It came without nachos or beans. The dish is rather on the lemon and herb side than the chili side. Oh, it came with two thin slivers of avocado.Do not treat too much into it. The dish sas good and my coke zero came in a chilled glass. The waitress was so professional. I will be back.

Great pizza.

The best burger Ive had in a while! And it was much more than what I was expecting, so much bang for your buck. Highly recommended

The Rat & Parrot is a really cool break-away from the months under lockdown. Friendly staff and they are always helpful. A favourite among students and rightly so.

I had a fantastic time here! The Bacovian pizza is a must try! The drinks are reasonably priced, and the food is everything to be expected from pub-grub.You have to come with people you enjoy though, otherwise itll probably be quite average and possibly incredibly dull. The service is actually quite decent and pleasant.Give it a try if you have good company for a night out.

Please work on ya kitchen. Was not impressed by ya food at all and expensive too, drinks, any day yall are an awesome joint and ya people are welcoming too

An old-English style pub and grub. Nice atmosphere. All varieties of alcohol served. Great food! Also now has a number of areas or rooms available to hire or use for small events. Service is hit and miss... it can be great but also can be really bad.

Good food, great vibes, always pumping. Depending on the time you go, theres various different vibes from very chilled afternoon lunch and drinks with close friend to an absolute banger of a party and everyone has a good time. Definitely made some good memories there!

This pub has two different sections : a section where you chill with family or friends while listening to soft music and then there is a section where you just out for a jol, have drinks and pizza and have a dance off. 🕺

Phenomenal potato chips. I really enjoy their Bacovian pizza, breakfast burger and blue cheese burger. I dont think Ive ever had a bad meal here. Their drinks are reasonably priced and they serve Leopards Leap wine which is quite decent.

Stopped over as someone from out of town and had the best pizza I have had to date. A friend of mine really complimented the steak there as well. Good vibe overall.

I was there back in 2011 when I wasn in the U.S. Marine Corps, I remember how much fun we had with the locals and the food and drink was awesome as well. I still talk about the Rat and Parrot to this day. Great life memories made at this place!

Had to turn their mains on for them after load shedding as the manager was nowhere to be found. The stood for 10 minutes waiting to be served after asking 2 waitresses and a barman for service. Left after that. Had jalapeño poppers from them earlier in the day and they were great.

All of the college town vibes with delicious food options that aren’t just your normal pub fare. The servers are also really great. A perfect place to stop by on a road trip down the coast!

Liked it but the bathrooms were not appealing

The food is very good but the service is almost always very slow. As a result its usually uncomfortable to go there because sometimes you need to stand around before getting shown to a table.

Good beer and food, slow service, unworkable Internet.We stopped by for dinner and a drink around 7 pm. We picked a table on the second floor by the windows for a view of the street and fresh air. The waitress was quick to bring menus and returned fifteen minutes later to ask for drinks. We asked for a beer and a beer sampler. About fifteen minutes later she returned to let us know that they didnt have one of the beers listed on the sampler, so we ordered two regular beers. The waitress returned a few minutes later with the beers. So, it took about half an hour to get two beers. We ordered pizza immediately after getting our beers. It took more than half an hour to receive the pizza. Nobody checked to see how we were doing or if we wanted another beer.While waiting, we tried to use their Internet. We were able to connect, but it was so slow that connections timed out on the web and email didnt update. The Internet connection was useless.Bottom line, one star off for slow service and another one off for Internet. Three starts for good pizza, good beer, clean bathrooms and nice seats by the window.

Its a really great sport for watching Sport events as a lot of people use it for watching football, rugby and cricket games. They also have great specials when games are being televised.

Considered one of the best pubs in Makhanda, this place really is great. I was in town for just a single night and decided to pop in. It reminded me of my own local pub: the barperson was friendly, chatty, answered my questions about local information; the other locals were equally friendly and quick to make suggestions.I was there on a Monday night, supposedly a quiet night, though still found more than enough people to have conversation with.

Our favourite hangout when we were studying here. Chill, nice, and you could stay here the entire evening. Start with an after-class-drink, go on to dinner (their pizzas never disappointed us, so we stuck to those during our entire studies), and end up dancing till closing or until bedtime. However, even when a DJ is playing it still holds the sportsbar-vibe, which means its crowded, a tad loud and people can get rowdy.
