A tranquil spot. It wasn’t very busy when we went. Tables set outside under the trees. The party chose a number of different mains, from the wraps through the lasagna and chicken pie. Everyone enjoyed their food. The wine selection was a little limited but all were exceptionally well priced. Staff were friendly and helpful. Worth a stop.

We were greeted by very friendly staff. The place is very beautiful with some relaxed live music in the background. Great fun to walk around the place and have a look at the antiques. The vibe is very relaxed and open air with nice views. Definitely worth a visit. The food menu is limited but tasty. Expect something a little bit different from what you are used to. I had a pie and this was quite good, although a bit on the dry side.

This place is definitely a hidden gem! Beautiful setting, out in a gorgeous garden. There is a cute antique store too! The food was delicious and homely! We had the lamb and mint pie and the lasagne and both were great! Their pies are homemade too which was amazing, and the pastry was spot on!

Lovely to browse; food is averageThis is a lovely place to browse when youre in the area.Their store is packed with antiques and unique items that is hard to source anywhere else. Take the time to browse through the various areas with goods; youll find anything from clothes to furniture, art and even a section with books at Melon RougeThe menu offer mostly cafe food with pies, some salads, breakfasts and more. I opted for the bobotie with salad and it was an average meal. You can either sit inside or outside, depending on your preference. If you like browsing then put this place on your list of places to visit

Tons of antique eye candy. Old typewriters etc. Very quaint. Wish they would bring back the shady canopy that distinguished the restaurant from all others and left me with an indelible memory of a great meal.

Review №67

We did go for a Sunday breakfast. The staff was super friendly. The breakfast was well prepared. For a place called Melon Rouge I just would have expected some more options for the breakfast like e.g. Croissants. When we asked if we are allowed taking some pictures they even suggested to try on some of their vintage clothes to take pictures. We will come again.

Staying in Magaliesburg so decided to pop in. Wandered through the antiques, clothing, art and books. Interesting but did not find anything that appealed to me. Decided to have lunch. Yes it is a small menu but found a vegetarian pie of sweet corn and butternut. Very nice! Enjoyed a couple of hours away from the caravan park.

They were great a few years ago. Now not so much. The service is dismal. The decor is tired. The menu glued into ancient magazines doesnt quite work. The food doesnt even redeem them - a little expensive, and my cottage pie was swimming in oil. Rather give them a skip.
