We had a wonderful stay in Knysna Backpackers, the hostel has all the necessary comodities (Wifi, kitchens, bath towels...) The staff is always listening, benevolent and we spent unforgettable moments with them. I highly recommend Knysna Backpackers!

What an amazing time I had there! The staff were so accommodating and even had made a braai for us one night! And by chance the literal ultimate braai master from the show was passing by 🤪 so we had a lekker night! Kevin that works there even took me crabbing one day!The place has a real authentic feel and great vibe. It over looks knysna stunningly with a legendary view of the heads.

Its afrika if you travel and you want to stay over for a night ore two on a budget then its good its a beutifull little town on the garden route close to everything the beach pubs restaurant you can walk all over frendly helpful people

My first time at a backpackers. Great location. Close to shops. Safe and secure - no issues. Fast WiFi with good coverage across the house. Good quality breakfast included in the price. I would definitely stay in a backpackers like this again. So glad I came here. Great experience

A lovely peaceful backpackers in knysna with a great view of the town. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend it for anyone visiting Knysna on a budget. A good breakfast option too.

Just love those place. Comfortable rooms very clean and a great breakfast. A backpacking gem and love that is its a national heritage site. Knysna is a must see for backpackers.

We asked for laundry service and they delivered our clothes wet. Even though they didn’t finish their service, they insisted in charging us. There are no way to keep your things secure. The atmosphere was not welcoming. The staff was basically on his phone the whole time. The house where the house is located is gorgeous but everything despite that was very bad.

Very special house in a quiet neighbourhood in the center of Knyna. The gem of this place is Jason the manager, he will welcome you with a big smile and you‘ll feel right at home. Sadly the WiFi didn‘t really work but the rooms are nice and clean, breakfast is included and the outdoor area is also very pretty =)

We stayed with our family.. They made us feel at home. Breakfast was excellent and included in price... Very affordable with fast wifi... They provided us everything we asked. Overall great experience

Not really worth the price you pay. Especially compared to a backpackers Im staying in tonight which looks like a boutique hotel for R70 less with loads of amenities. Place was clean,staff are friendly. Breakfast bowl was replated with previous persons milk still left in it. So wasnt washed, just emptied.Pillows are completely worn down. I think it could do with a major price adjustment for what you get. Else, youll need to step it up.

First of all, this is a really beautiful hostel. I love the architecture of the building, its just super beautiful!The hostel doesnt have a bar or something like that, but I did not miss it at all. It made me feel more at home than at other backpackers.The included breakfast was good and the kitchen was well equipped.The staff was super friendly!Also, they offer free, uncapped WiFi!

Not effen worth a star..very very bad service..broken windows in the room we need to sleep in..not worth visiting..thats a big no go.

The stay at Knysna Backpackers was quite enjoyable, which also related to the super nice staff & other guests that stayed at the same time. The house is really pretty, however a bit moist and there‘re only 2 bathrooms. Besides, the WiFi is really bad.The breakfast, however, was lovely and also, we joined a low tide tour guided by a volunteer of the hostel and it was super interesting.

BEWARE and DONT BOOK HERE... We had a reservation and the host cancelled us 1.5 weeks before arrival. The communication with Julian is terrible as he blames you for everything (even though it might be his fault and weakness of the reservation system they have). I highly do not recommend booking here at this place if you are looking for something more reliable. This is just a hassle at this place!!! One last thing that is unacceptable: if you make a booking and he cancels your reservation, he will keep the deposit with the following argument: we would be entitled to keep it in respect of the late cancellation under terms and conditions that you had access to and signed up to when making your booking. So, his understanding is that even though the property cancelled and not us, he still is entitled to keep the deposit. That is fraud!

Dstv was off no wifi only sabc channels and breakfast was cereal and scrambled eggs on toast. Place was very clean. Nice views of the lagoon and town.

No wifi, no TV and u have to walk up a Hill after along day in the sun.

Unsafe hostile with very insolent owner. Car was broken into and another was broken in the next night. No gates or lights to deter crime. Hostel is located in a unsafe area. Watch your belongings. Police will provide information about the history of the hostel. Not worth the risk.

Located in calm northern Knysna, this house is full of rooms for backpackers, two bathrooms, shared kitchen, lovely little garden with terrasse ideal for breakfast outside. Wifi available at all rooms, shared livingroom with TV. Clean and comfy, friendly atmosphere.

The place very nice and warm, a few blocks from the main street that can be walked. Our beds were good. Enjoy the armchair at the entrance with that view. The breakfast fine. There were only two bathrooms for all of us, we had to wait long to bathe. It happened to us that they had misplaced our reservation, but after a while they asked us to locate, it was a tense moment having to talk to the owner and the manager. These are not all day, the manager arrives in the morning and retires in the afternoon.

The beds are very bad and the internet ... Forget it!

Of all the hostels we slept in in SA, this was the worst in terms of price / performance. I dont know how it is in the shared rooms. In any case, we had a double room (without a bathroom) and would not recommend it!At first nobody was there when we arrived at the hostel at 4 p.m., so we had to wait (no one could be reached on the given mobile number). Finally we were opened and we had to pay the stay directly: 500 rand (actually 495 but we were not given any change. We did not want to complain because of 5 rds, about 30 ct ..). Now the double room is located in an attached winter garden, which is why it gets quite cold at night. At this time of year (end of September) it wasnt that bad. We were extremely bothered by the dirty bed linen and the musty smell. Especially the bed linen was really annoying. Sometimes there were toothpaste stains on the pillows (I hope it was toothpaste ...), hair and fluff in the bed and just stains on the bed linen ... That is mainly the reason why we would not recommend the hostel to others. Also the price of 500 Rd is simply overpriced! Everything else is small ...Otherwise there is a small breakfast in the morning and it takes about 30 minutes to walk to the waterfront.We would not recommend the double room. It is situated in kind of a winter garden which makes it pretty cold during the nights. The most annoying think was the dirty bed linen .... for 500 Rd its way to expensive for just a (dirty) bed to sleep in ...

Who likes it a bit quieter, should come here. The Knysna Backpackers is priced optimal and offers a contemplative beautifully furnished accommodation. There is even a small breakfast in the morning. The view is very nice and with a bike borrowed from the hostel you are in no time on the beautiful waterfront.

Beautiful Victorian historic house very well located. Home very friendly. Very clean. Stay very pleasant in this very interesting city.
