Highly, highly recommend this. Everything from the ferry to the hike to the lunch is amazing,
Horrible experience with this company. We recently stayed adjacent to the Featherbed Private Nature Reserve as part of a short family vacation at a lovely cottage on the Knysna Lagoon at Brenton on Lake. Access to our cottage is along a private road taking you to one of the loveliest spots along the lagoon. As part of the familys fitness regime we would walk out onto the private road for the usual mornings hike - an hour in total. With spectacular views of the lagoon and Knysna. On our final morning I decided to take my two visiting nieces along. Up until now Ive mostly walked the path alone. But on our last day, I had these two lovely 14 year olds with me. At some point along this private road, we encountered numerous Featherbed private property signs (Keep Out in angry red, or face prosecution in an even darker angry red) and we assumed this relates to the private homesteads and roads turning off the main road. It turns out most of the property along this picturesque lagoon belongs to this extremely belligerent and aggressive company who sole purpose it seems are to keep people off their property. You guessed right, it transpired the private road and signs naturally belonged to them and we were not welcome. This was communicated to us by two extremely rude and crude men driving up in a golf-cart. As I have walked this same road the previous 3days and had no indication then we were trespassing, it occurred to me that this time was different. There was no kind words or explanation. Just a vituperative outburst of the crudest kind. Get the f*** off our property. Cant you read. Etc. What an eyeopener. In front of two 14 year old girls, one which is black, I could not wonder if this outburst had anything to do with the fact that one of my nieces were black. Seeing that as a white male on the previous occasions I was left alone on the exact same walk. Either way, this is not the way to bully and coerce visitors to this beautiful area. The encounter left my nieces and myself traumatized, spoiling what otherwise would have been the perfect holiday. Ive mentioned our encounter to numerous friends and acquaintances in the area who immediately all had a similar story to relate about the Featherbed Companys aggressive, rude and crude manners and behavior in this small Garden Route town. They apparently are known for their aggressive stance and behavior. The fact that there was no gate on this private road which we had accessed from our own property made no difference to them. The fact that there was two young girls present, made no difference. We got the distinct feeling the fact that one little girl was black, aggravated the whole situation. And what made us wonder even more, is how it is still possible in todays South Africa, that one company can still claim ownership of what should be for all South Africans. This property straddles arguably one of the countrys most beautiful nature zones. An ecosystem and biome of spectacular beauty. Claimed by a brutal company set on keeping people out. What a shame. Maybe its time someone stand up to these bullies.
The company does a variety of tours. Refer to their website or broucher for detailed explanation of each. We did a basic ferry ride to the estuary. Beautiful scenery and worth the visit. On the ferry they have bar and food service on extra payment basis. Didnt try the food but it smelled pretty nice. The ferry ride is for an hour. Must do for first time visitors to Knysna. The safety demo was pretty funny.
Nice cruise. Friendly staff. Food mediocre and over-priced. While the online booking process was smooth, there is no guarantee that the booked cruise will actually take place. The is ZERO follow-up communication from Featherbed. When we arrived we were told that there are not enough people and the cruise got cancelled. While this might be according to their T&Cs, they SHOULD inform their clients upfront!
Such an incredible upgrade since the fires. Gorgeous venue that hosted my cousins wedding. The courtyard is absolutely magical and Im.sire parking your boat there for a few is an afternoon well spent
Excellent tour company! Have previously been on their Eco experience and this time was just the a ferry trip around the Knysna Lagoon/Estuary with the family. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny. Highly recommended however, one point of contention is the tour prices. More geared with the foreign tourist market and not locals in mind.
Fantastic tour. Skipper and crew on the paddle boat really pleasant. Thank you very much😊
The trip was amazing. We went on the John Benn Ferry. The problem was that there was a delay and the communication was poor so we stood around for 20 minutes not sure of whether we were going to go or not. Once we were on the ferry though it was wonderful. The staff were professional and friendly. If you have kids with you a visit to the captain during the trip is a treat. Dont forget to tip!
Good experience. it is a fabulous place. and the boat tour is good. food is good but be careful the beverages are not free :)
Went to the restaurant which was pretty empty. Sat down and waited for more then 15min, the waiters kept ignoring us so we left.Seems like they just care about people from tour busses who come in aver 2 hours or so.
Visited the beach bar. Excellent for the locals. Best kept secret
What a fantastic beach bar. Overlooking the Knysna heads. Great vibe and food. A must do when in Knysna.
A very nice boat trip. Nice experience for the whole family.

Wow. Wow. Wow. The new featherbed restaurant, and hotel. Is out of this world. Most beautiful scenic ride on the ferry, to get there. Then its the warm reception, the astonishing aray of foods, and extremely well prepared. They must have an exceptional chef. And the scenery, and views of the knysna lagoon, leisure isle, and the heads! Wow. Wow. Wow.
The views were amazing, and the cruise was everything.
The Paddle Cruise was amazing and the food was devine. Super awesome experience!
Stunning upgrade after the June 2017 fires. A must see!!
Great Ares to visit around Plettenberg Bay
Had a lovely time on the lagoon. Awesome view from the Paddle Cruiser of Knysna.

Great day out, very knowledgeable staff, the weather unfortunately was not in our favour, but a great trip thanks to all staff
A must do experience when visiting Knysna. With such a variety of cruise options it can fit anyones pocket.
Absolutely stunning. A must do when visiting Knysna.
Enjoy ,d our trip were singing dancing was fun..
Place so nice, and clean, nice for passing by just for fresh air
The lagoon cruise on the Paddle Cruiser is pleasant enough. The lunch is not recommended. The Schnitzel was tough and tasted awful. The Hake fish was bland and the batter did little to redeem it.. Service was also bad. Dishes to each of 3 diners was delivered seperately, five minutes apart.
The best experience EVER.
Ferry captain was informative and entertaining.
Such a nice walk with magnificent views
